Synthesis and properties of ω-(hydroxyaryl)alkylsulfides based on 2-isobornyl-6-methyl-4-propylphenol

Proceeding from 2-isobornyl-6-methyl-4-propylphenol new derivatives have been synthesized having sulfur atoms included in different functional groups. Antiradical and antioxidant activity, as well as membrane-protecting properties of the derivatives of 2-isobornyl-6-methyl-4-propylphenol in chemical and biological model systems have been investigated.     

Tritium-labeled 5-oxo-Pro-Arg-Pro

Conditions of tritium introduction into 5-oxo-Pro-Arg-Pro have been developed. Labelled 5-oxo-Pro-Arg-Pro has been obtained in 75% yield and molar radioactivity of 60 Ci/mmol. Tritium distribution over amino acid residues in the peptide has been determined. 5-Oxo-Pro : Arg : Pro ratio in the labelled peptide has been found to be 1 : 5.2 : 2.8. Nonterminal amino acid has been found to contain the major portion of tritium, about 35 Ci/mmol; i.e., arginine includes more than half of the label. Such a feature can be explained by the effect of readily protonated guanidine group of arginine. The influence of charged guanidine group of arginine seems to increase the shift of electron density in the neighboring C–H bonds of arginine and proton mobility, thus increasing protium–tritium exchange at these carbon atoms.     

Influence of the fractality of opal matrices on melting and crystallization of decane in pores

In this paper we present the results of studies on melting and crystallization of decane embedded in the pores of opal matrices filled with chemically pure hexadecane. In this studies measured the ultrasonic velocity by the pulse-interference method at frequencies of about 7 MHz in the temperature range 170–290 K.

The studies of structural aspects of the cluster formation in silicate glasses doped with cerium and titanium oxides by small-angle neutron scattering

The structural aspects of the formation of Ti-Ce-O nanoclusters in silicate glasses doped with oxides TiO₂ and CeO₂ have been studied by means of small-angle neutron scattering. It has been obtained that, in such glasses, complex oxide nanoclusters with sizes of 300–380 Å are formed; their average size increases and the fractal dimension is changed as the concentration of the initial oxides increases. Correlation between the structural characteristics of the nanoclusters and the optical properties of the doped silicate glasses is discussed.
