Indices Versus Transcendental Functions in Seasonal Forecasting: Reaping the Benefits of Both

Two different statistical models have been frequently used for short-term forecasting. The first, involving seasonal indices, is easy to understand but can lead to problems of instability. The second, transcendental functions (mixtures of sine waves), tends to be much more stable but is difficult for the user to understand. In this paper, we explain an approach that combines the benefits of the two types of models.

New and efficient procedures are described for the conversion of homoallylic alcohols to esters of diazoacetic acid and for the further intramolecular cyclopropanation of those esters.

Stereochemistry of the sn2′ displacement of chiral 1, 3-disubstituted bromoallenes to form chiral acetylenes

Optically active 1,3-disubstituted bromoallenes react with a variety of cuprate reagents preferentially in an S_N2′ fashion with very high $\text{anti}$ selectivity.
