Groups with π-Minimal and π-Layer Minimal Conditions. II

For an arbitrary set of prime numbers we study the properties and structure of groups satisfying the -minimal and -layer minimal conditions. In particular, we describe the structure of the almost RN-groups (and thereby that of the locally solvable groups) with these conditions. Under the assumption 2, we describe the structure of locally graded groups (and thereby that of locally finite groups) with these conditions.     

Synthesis of novel linear exo-bidentate bispyridine ligands and their complexes with silver(i) tetrafluoroborate

Novel exo-bidentate ligands containing two -pyridyl fragments and their complexes with silver(i) tetrafluoroborate were synthesized.     

Thermochemistry of Complexation of 15-Crown-5 and 18-Crown-6 with Na+and NH+4Ions in Aqueous Solutions

The complexation constants and the heats of complexation of 15-crown-5 (15C5) and 18-crown-6 (18C6) with sodium and ammonium ions in aqueous solutions at several temperatures were determined using calorimetry methods. Thermodynamic characteristics (H°, G°, S°, and C _p°) of the formation of Na(15C5)⁺, Na(18C6)⁺, and NH₄(18C6)⁺were calculated.     

Infinite nonabelian groups with minimal condition for non-normal subgroups

Infinite nonabelian groups which do not possess a descending chain of non-normal subgroups are examined. It is established that under certain additional conditions, in particular the condition of the existence of a normal system with finite factors, the class of all such groups consists only of infinite extremal nonabelian groups and infinite hamiltonian groups, see [6].Translated from Matematicheskie Zametki, Vol. 6, No. 1, pp. 11–18, July, 1969.     

Scattering of two plane electromagnetic waves in the non-linear Born-Infeld electrodynamics

The problem of scattering of two plane waves is exactly solved in the Born-Infeld electrodynamics. The shape and the direction of the plane waves after scattering turn out to be unchanged. There is only change in the wave phase by the value which is the product of its frequency and the momentum of the incident wave. It is shown that in the interaction region the solution becomes a multiple-valued function ofx, t when the electromagnetic field exceeds a certain value which plays the role of an absolute field scale.
