In this paper, gain flatness is studied for simultaneous 16-ITU-T channel amplifications at C-band (1,532–1,558 nm) in a single
stage EDFA for WDM application at different average inversion levels. The inversion levels are varied due to the change of
the input signal levels from the targeted operating point and also for dropping few numbers of channels. Specially designed
gain flattening filter (GFF) is used in order to get the flat gain with gain variation ±0.5 dB for −20 dBm/ch input signal
power (total input signal power is −8.0 dBm) at a fixed average inversion level which is maintained by proper selection of
optimum fibre length and pump power. A specific loss spectrum of GFF is obtained by writing a chirped fibre Bragg grating
of length 20 mm. Gain variations are studied by changing the total input signal levels from −8.0 dBm to −20.0 dBm and maintained
within 20.0 ± 0.5 dB by using automatic gain control (AGC) circuit. About 15 out of 16 channels are dropped and observed ±
0.5 dB gain-variation which is an important parameter in optical network system. 相似文献

We present a new algorithm for continuation of limit cycles of autonomous systems as a system parameter is varied. The algorithm
works in phase space with an ordered set of points on the limit cycle, along with spline interpolation. Currently popular
algorithms in bifurcation analysis packages compute time-domain approximations of limit cycles using either shooting or collocation.
The present approach seems useful for continuation near saddle homoclinic points, where it encounters a corner while time-domain
methods essentially encounter a discontinuity (a relatively short period of rapid variation). Other phase space-based algorithms
use rescaled arclength in place of time, but subsequently resemble the time-domain methods. Compared to these, we introduce
additional freedom through a variable stretching of arclength based on local curvature, through the use of an auxiliary index-based
variable. Several numerical examples are presented. Comparisons with results from the popular package, MATCONT, are favorable

The synthesis of symmetrical 2,6-disubstituted 4-fluorotetrahydropyran derivatives has been achieved using HBF4·OEt2 via a tandem allylation and Prins cyclization. This is a highly efficient and diastereoselective approach for the preparation of 4-fluorotetrahydropyrans in a single step. Starting from a variety of substituted chroman-4-ones, a highly enantioselective CBS reduction using in situ-generated B-H catalyst gave (S)-chroman-4-ols. We demonstrate the method of averaging for conservative oscillators which may be strongly nonlinear, under small perturbations including delayed and/or fractional derivative terms. The unperturbed systems studied here include a harmonic oscillator, a strongly nonlinear oscillator with a cubic nonlinearity, as well as one with a nonanalytic nonlinearity. For the latter two cases, we use an approximate realization of the asymptotic method of averaging, based on harmonic balance. The averaged dynamics closely match the full numerical solutions in all cases, verifying the validity of the averaging procedure as well as the harmonic balance approximations therein. Moreover, interesting dynamics is uncovered in the strongly nonlinear case with small delayed terms, where arbitrarily many stable and unstable limit cycles can coexist, and infinitely many simultaneous saddle-node bifurcations can occur. 相似文献

Patterning of sol gel based silica and silica–titania films has been developed at room temperature by soft lithographic technique.
Corresponding metal alkoxides have been utilized for the preparation of precursor sols. Elastomeric stamps of polydimethylsiloxane
(PDMS) are used to emboss patterns of a master grating on the as-prepared silica and silica–titania films obtained by sol
gel process. Pressure-less capillary force lithography has been used to fabricate both 1-D and 2-D ordered structures of simple
stripe patterns. A modified solvent assisted lithography and micro-molding in capillaries yielded stable and high fidelity

We consider three dimensional finite element computations of thermoelastic damping ratios of arbitrary bodies using Zener’s
approach. In our small-damping formulation, unlike existing fully coupled formulations, the calculation is split into three
smaller parts. Of these, the first sub-calculation involves routine undamped modal analysis using ANSYS. The second sub-calculation
takes the mode shape, and solves on the same mesh a periodic heat conduction problem. Finally, the damping coefficient is
a volume integral, evaluated elementwise. In the only other decoupled three dimensional computation of thermoelastic damping
reported in the literature, the heat conduction problem is solved much less efficiently, using a modal expansion. We provide
numerical examples using some beam-like geometries, for which Zener’s and similar formulas are valid. Among these we examine
tapered beams, including the limiting case of a sharp tip. The latter’s higher-mode damping ratios dramatically exceed those
