Hybrid systems of the conjugated organic polymer poly(p-phenylene vinylene-co-2,5-dioctyloxy-m-phenylene vinylene)(PmPV) and HiPco single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) are explored using spectroscopic and thermal techniques to determine specific interactions. Vibrational spectroscopy indicates a weak interaction, and this is further elucidated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), confocal laser scanning microscopy, temperature-dependent Raman spectroscopy, and temperature-dependent infrared spectroscopy of the raw materials and the composite. An endothermic transition is observed in the DSC of both the polymer and the 0.1% HiPco composite in the region of 50 degrees C. Also observed in the DSC of the composite is a double-peaked endotherm at -39 and -49 degrees C, which does not appear in the polymer. The Raman spectroscopy of the polymer upon increasing the temperature to 60 degrees C shows a diminished cis-vinylene mode at 1575 cm(-1), with an increase in relative intensity of the trans-vinylene mode at 1630 cm(-1). Partially irreversible change in isomerization suggests increased order in the polymer. This change in the polymer is also manifest in the Raman composite spectrum upon increase of the temperature to 60 degrees C, where the spectrum becomes abruptly dominated by nanotubes. Raman spectroscopy of the composite shows no change at -35 degrees C; however, infrared absorption measurements suggest that the transition at -35 degrees C derives from the polymer side chains. Here the composite at -35 degrees C shows a change in the absorbance of the polymer side chain aryl-oxide linkage at 1250 cm(-1) and alkyl-oxide stretch at 1050 cm(-1). Infrared spectra thus suggest that the transitions in the lower temperature region around -35 degrees C are side chain-induced, while Raman spectra suggest that the transition at 60 degrees C is backbone-induced. Furthermore, temperature cycling induces an irreversible decrease in the mean fluorescence intensity of the polymer, coupled with a further reduction in the mean fluorescence intensity of the composite. This suggests that an increase in crystallization of the composite is supported and enhanced by an increase in ordering of the polymer. Implications are discussed.  相似文献

The possibility of material design technology to obtain negative refractive indices poses the question on the optical properties of aspherical surfaces made from such media. Here, the special aspherical surfaces connected with Cartesian ovaloides are discussed in the case of a negative refractive index. A subset of the Cartesian ovaloides contains spheres which allow aplanatic imaging in the well-known kind. Using the flexible linker H(2)O(3)P-C(4)H(8)-SO(3)H (H(3)L) and rare earth ions Ln(3+) (Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd) we were able to synthesize the new isostructural inorganic organic hybrid compounds Ln(O(3)P-C(4)H(8)-SO(3))(H(2)O). High-throughput experiments were employed to study the influence of the molar ratios Ln:H(3)L and pH on the product formation. The crystal structure of the compounds Sm(O(3)P-C(4)H(8)-SO(3))(H(2)O) (1) and Pr(O(3)P-C(4)H(8)-SO(3))(H(2)O) (2) were determined by single crystal diffraction. The structures are built up from chains of edge-sharing LnO(8)-polyhedra that are connected by the phosphonate and sulfonate groups into layers. These layers are linked by the -(CH(2))(4)- group to form a three-dimensional framework. The synthesis of compound 1 was scaled up in a conventional oven as well as in a microwave reactor system. A modification of a microwave reactor system allowed its integration into the beamline F3 at HASYLAB, DESY, Hamburg. The crystallization was investigated in situ by means of energy dispersive X-ray diffraction using conventional as well as microwave heating methods applying temperatures varying from 110 to 150 °C. The formation of Sm(O(3)P-C(4)H(8)-SO(3))(H(2)O) takes place in two steps. In the first step a crystalline intermediate was observed, which transforms completely into compound 1. The method by Sharp and Hancock was used to determine the rate constants, reaction exponents, and the Arrhenius activation energy for both reaction steps. Comparing both heating methods, microwave heating leads to fully crystallized reaction product after shorter reaction times, but neither the temperature nor the heating method has significant influence on the induction time.  相似文献

Reaction of iron(II) thiocyanate with 4,4‐bipyridine (bipy) in methanol leads to the formation of three new solvates of different composition depending on the reaction conditions: At room temperature two new ligand‐rich 1:2 (1:2 = ratio between metal and N‐donor ligand) polymorphic forms [Fe(NCS)2(bipy)2 · 2MeOH]n ( 1I ) and [Fe(NCS)2(bipy)(MeOH)2 · (bipy)]n ( 1II ) are obtained, whereas solvothermal conditions leads to the formation of the new ligand‐deficient 1:1 compound [{Fe(NCS)2(bipy)(MeOH)}2]n ( 2 ). All crystal structures were determined by X‐ray single crystal structure analysis. In the crystal structure of modification 1I the metal atoms are coordinated by four bridging bipy ligands, which connect them into layers. The methanol molecules occupy voids in the structure. Compared to 1I in modification 1II the crystal structure contains of linear Fe–bipy–Fe chains, which are further connected by hydrogen bonds between coordinating MeOH and noncoordinated bipy ligands into layers. The ligand‐deficient 1:1 compound 2 shows a completely different coordination topology with linear Fe–bipy–Fe chains, which are connected by coordinating methanol molecules into double‐chains. In all compounds the thiocyanato anions are terminal N‐bonded to the metal atoms. Investigation of the thermal behavior of compound 1I shows a two‐step decomposition, in which ligand‐deficient intermediates are formed. Magnetic measurements on 1I reveal Curie–Weiss paramagnetism with increasing antiferromagnetic interactions on cooling.  相似文献

We report on efficient single-pass, high-power second-harmonic generation in a periodically poled MgO-doped LiNbO3 planar waveguide using a distributed Bragg reflector tapered diode laser as a pump source. A coupling efficiency into the planar waveguide of 73% was realized, and 1.07 W of visible laser light at 532 nm was generated. Corresponding optical and electro-optical conversion efficiencies of 26% and 8.4%, respectively, were achieved. Good agreement between the experimental data and the theoretical predictions was observed.  相似文献
