Highly Efficient Synthesis of Tricyclic Perimidines under Microwave Heating

A new and efficient access to (Z)‐N‐(2‐argio‐1‐(1H‐perimidin‐2‐yl)vinyl)benzamide derivatives from readily available substrates in HOAc is described with aid of microwave irradiation. The results of our study provide a simple, straightforward synthetic route to these interesting classes of 2‐substituted perimidines analogs in excellent yields.     

Crystal structure of a novel complex [Co(3,3′-bpbc)(H2O)3]·H2O

A novel coordination polymer constructed with [Co(3,3′-bpbc)(H₂O)₃]·H₂O(I) (3,3′-bpbc = 2,2′-bipyridine-3,3′-dicarboxylic acid) is successfully synthesized at room temperature and characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectra. The crystal structure of the complex is determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The unit cell parameters for complex I are: a = 9.9606(11) Å, b = 9.2552(10) Å, c = 16.0258(17) Å, β = 96.731(0)°, V = 1467.2(3) ų, Z = 4, space group P2(1)/n. In the crystal, the cobalt(II) ion adopts a hexa-coordinate environment, and the structure units aggregate together to give birth to infinite 1D chains. The 2D and 3D framework is constructed via intermolecular hydrogen bonds.     

Dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction of phenolic compounds using solidified floating organic droplets, and their determination by HPLC

We have developed a simple and efficient method for dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction of 4-nitrophenol, 2-naphthol and bisphenol A in real water samples. It is making use of solidified floating organic droplets of 1-dodecanol which has low density and a proper melting point. The type and volume of extraction solvent and dispersive solvent, the effect of salts, pH value and extraction time were optimized and resulted in enrichment factors of 84 for 4-nitrophenol, 123 for 2-naphthol, and 97 for bisphenol A. The limits of detection by HPLC are 1.50, 0.10 and 1.02 ng · mL^?1, respectively. Excellent linearity is observed in the concentration range from 10 to 800 ng · mL^?1, with coefficients of correlation ranging from 0.9988 to 0.9999. The relative standard deviations (for n?=?5) are from 3.2 to 5.3 %, and relative recoveries for the three phenols in tap, river and spring water range from 85.0 to 105.0 %, 98.3 to 110.0 %, and 98.6 to 109.0 %, respectively.

Asymmetric Syntheses IV: Enantioselective Synthesis of (R)-Benzylic Amines Via Alkylation of D-Camphor Ketimine

An efficient asymmetric synthesis of (R)-benzylic amines in optical purity 36–90% had been achieved by alkylation of a chiral ketimine prepared from D-camphor and benzylamine. Diastereoselectivity in the alkylation is dependent on the alkyl halides.     

Asymmetric Synthesis XIV: TiCl(Oipr)3-Promoted Asymmetric Coupling Reaction of D-Camphor Ketimine Anion

Optically active 1, 2-Diphenylethylendiamine(9) is obtained by asymmetric oxidative coupling reaction of d-camphor ketimine anion (4). Among various oxidating agents, TiCl(Oipr)₃ is better than l₂, Br₂, CuCl₂, FeCl₃ and BrCH₂CH₂Br.     

Oxidative Coupling Reaction of N,N‐Dialkylanilines with Cerium(IV) Ammonium Nitrate in the Solid State

Oxidative coupling reactions of N,N‐dialkylanilines with cerium(IV) ammonium nitrate can be achieved by grinding at room temperature in the absence of solvents.     

Simple and Efficient Method for Obtaining Fluorene and Spirobifluorene Bromide Derivatives

A mild, simple, and efficient synthetic procedure for the preparation of 2-monobromo-, 2,7-dibromo-, and 2,2′,7,7′-tetrabromo-substituted spirobifluorene derivatives and their key intermediates, 2-monobromo- and 2,7-dibromo-substituted fluorene compounds, has been developed. The oxidative bromination of fluorene and spirobifluorene was achieved using NaBr/H₂O₂ as the bromine source. High conversion of the starting materials was achieved together with good selectivities under optimized reaction conditions.     

Asymmetric Syntheses XXVI: Catalytic Enantioselective Syntheses of β-Hydroxy Esters via Double Chiral Induction in Asymmetric Reformatsky Reactions

Catalytic asymmetric Reformatsky reactions of benzaldehyde with optically active menthyl bromoacetates in the presence of Zn-Cu couple were performed using 0.25 equiv. of (1R,2S) or (1S,2R)-dimethyl-2-amino-1,2-diphenyl ethanol as chiral ligand to obtain β - hydroxy esters with enantioselectivities up to 60.2%. The obvious double chiral induction effect was observed while chiral ligands matched with optically active substrates.     

Synthesis of Cholesterylated Thiogalactosides for Gene Delivery

A series of cholesterylated thiogalactosides L₁ –L₆ the cell targeting ligands for gene delivery to hepatocytes, was synthesized. Related poly(ethylene glycol) chain was used as a bridge for the attachment of galactoside on one hydroxyl end, while the other hydroxyl end was linked with cholesterol. This design provided an effective entry for the synthesis of a poly(ethylene glycol) compound with the hepatocyte targeting.     

Synthesis of 3-Trifluoromethyl-Substituted Benzo[f]chromene Derivatives in a One-Pot Reaction

In the presence of 1,8-diazabicycolo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene (DBU) and concentrated H₂SO₄, 2-naphthol reacted smoothly with α,β-unsaturated trifluoromethyl ketones in CH₂Cl₂ at room temperature, affording the 3-trifluoromethyl-substituted benzo[f]chromene derivatives in good to excellent yields in a one-pot reaction.
