Small-angle light-scattering (SALS) patterns were obtained during melting and crystallization of blends of linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) with conventional low-density polyethylene (LDPE). Quantitative measurements of these SALS patterns using a two-dimensional optical multichannel analyzer apparatus (OMA2) indicate that the LLDPE which is miscible with the LDPE component in the molten state crystallizes first, forming volume-filling spherulites. The LDPE then crystallizes within the preformed spherulites. These findings are supported by optical microscopy studies showing that the blend samples were volume filled with one kind of the spherulites having a radius comparable to that of the pure LLDPE. The SALS intensity curve changes with composition of the blends in a manner that may be interpreted by considering the orientation of crystals within spherulites. It has been observed that the spherulites in the blend have more diffuse boundaries as the LDPE content increases. The lattice spacing and long spacings in blends were obtained by wide-angle and small-angle x-ray scattering, respectively. The SALS technique along with differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) is shown to be useful for determining the crystallization behavior of a crystallizable polymer blend system.  相似文献

High throughput data are frequently observed in contemporary chemical studies. Classification through spectral information is an important issue in chemometrics. Linear discriminant analysis (LDA) fails in the large‐p‐small‐n situation for two main reasons: (1) the sample covariance matrix is singular when p > n and (2) there is an accumulation of noise in the estimation of the class centroid in high dimensional feature space. The Independence Rule is a class of methods used to overcome these drawbacks by ignoring the correlation information between spectral variables. However, a strong correlation is an essential characteristic of spectral data. We proposed a new correlation‐assisted nearest shrunken centroid classifier (CA‐NSC) to incorporate correlation information into the classification. CA‐NSC combines two sources of information [class centroid (mean) and correlation structure (variance)] to generate the classification. We used two real data analyses and a simulation study to verify our CA‐NSC method. In addition to NSC, we also performed a comparison with the soft independent modeling of class analogy (SIMCA) approach, which uses only correlation structure information for classification. The results show that CA‐NSC consistently improves on NSC and SIMCA. The misclassification rate of CA‐NSC is reduced by almost half compared with NSC in one of the real data analyses. Generally, correlation among variables will worsen the performance of NSC, even though the discriminatory information contained in the class centroid remains unchanged. If only correlation structure information is used (as in the case of SIMCA), the result will be satisfactory only when the correlation structure alone can provide sufficient information for classification. A series of tetracyanoruthenate(II) with chelating pyridyl N‐heterocyclic carbene ligands (NHC‐py) was synthesized and characterized. Their photophysical and electrochemical properties as well as the photochromic behavior of their dithienylethene‐containing complexes were studied. Photocyclization was found to take place upon irradiation into the metal‐to‐ligand charge transfer (MLCT) absorption bands of these complexes, and evidence is provided to support the triplet‐sensitizing reaction pathway.  相似文献

A series of platinum(II) alkynyl‐based sensitizers has been synthesized and found to show light‐to‐electricity conversion properties. These dyes were developed as sensitizers for the application in nanocrystalline TiO2 dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Their photophysical and electrochemical properties were studied. The excited‐state property was probed using nanosecond transient absorption spectroscopy, which showed the formation of a charge‐separated state that arises from the intramolecular photoinduced charge transfer from the platinum(II) alkynylbithienylbenzothiadiazole moiety (donor) to the polypyridyl ligand (acceptor). A lifetime of 3.4 μs was observed for the charge‐separated state. A dye‐sensitized solar cell based on one of the complexes showed a short‐circuit photocurrent of 7.12 mA cm?2, an open circuit voltage of 780 mV, and a fill factor of 0.65, thus giving an overall power conversion efficiency of 3.6 %.  相似文献

A series of photochromic spironaphthoxazine derivatives has been designed, synthesized, and characterized by using 1H NMR spectroscopy, FAB mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis. Their photophysical and photochromic behavior have been investigated. Two of the compounds (G12‐en‐SA‐SO and G16‐en‐SA‐SO) have been shown to be capable of forming stable thermoreversible organogels in organic solvents, tested by the “stable‐to‐inversion of a test tube” method. Addition of p‐toluenesulfonic acid was found to induce the formation of stable organogels at concentrations below that of the critical gelation concentration (c.g.c.), with a concomitant change in color from colorless to purple. Transmission electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy of the xerogels showed typical fibrous structures in the micrometer scale. The activation parameters for the bleaching reaction of G8‐en‐SA‐SO in the solution state and G16‐en‐SA‐SO in the gel state have been determined in ethanol through kinetic studies at various temperatures. The results showed that the rate of the bleaching reaction in the gel state was much slower than that in the solution state.  相似文献

The preconcentration of analytes is important in biochemical analysis as it offers the ability to detect for trace species, and increase signal-to-noise ratios when using optical sensing on fluorophores. A strong advantage of the evaporation technique lies in its ability to operate without the need of any energy source; albeit major challenges exist on how to increase the surface area exposure to air for heightened evaporation, ensure no further increases once specified analyte concentrations have been achieved, and not needing any intervening membranes. We demonstrate here that the droplet creation and retraction approach in capillary based microplates offers such abilities whilst at the same time facilitating mixing.  相似文献

Satisfiability is a class of NP-complete problems that model a wide range of real-world applications. These problems are difficult to solve because they have many local minima in their search space, often trapping greedy search methods that utilize some form of descent. In this paper, we propose a new discrete Lagrange-multiplier-based global-search method (DLM) for solving satisfiability problems. We derive new approaches for applying Lagrangian methods in discrete space, we show that an equilibrium is reached when a feasible assignment to the original problem is found and present heuristic algorithms to look for equilibrium points. Our method and analysis provides a theoretical foundation and generalization of local search schemes that optimize the objective alone and penalty-based schemes that optimize the constraints alone. In contrast to local search methods that restart from a new starting point when a search reaches a local trap, the Lagrange multipliers in DLM provide a force to lead the search out of a local minimum and move it in the direction provided by the Lagrange multipliers. In contrast to penalty-based schemes that rely only on the weights of violated constraints to escape from local minima, DLM also uses the value of an objective function (in this case the number of violated constraints) to provide further guidance. The dynamic shift in emphasis between the objective and the constraints, depending on their relative values, is the key of Lagrangian methods. One of the major advantages of DLM is that it has very few algorithmic parameters to be tuned by users. Besides the search procedure can be made deterministic and the results reproducible. We demonstrate our method by applying it to solve an extensive set of benchmark problems archived in DIMACS of Rutgers University. DLM often performs better than the best existing methods and can achieve an order-of-magnitude speed-up for some problems.  相似文献
