This paper proves that several initial-boundary value problems for a wide class of nonlinear reaction-diffusion equations have solutions ci(x, t), 1 ? i ? N (with ci(x, t) representing the concentration of the ith species at position x in a set Ω at time t ? 0), which exist for all t ? 0 and are unique, smooth, nonnegative, and strictly positive for t > 0. The Volterra-Lotka predator-prey model with diffusion (to which the results above are proved to apply) is then studied in more detail. It is proved that any bounded solution of this model loses its spatial dependence and behaves like a periodic function of time alone as t → ∞. It is proved that if the spatial dimension is one or if the diffusion coefficients of the two species are equal, then all solutions are bounded.  相似文献

The near K-edge structure of oxygen in liquid water and ices III, II, and IX at 0.25 GPa and several low temperatures down to 4 K has been studied using inelastic x-ray scattering at 9884.7 eV with a total energy resolution of 305 and 175 meV. A marked decrease of the preedge intensity from the liquid phase and ice III to ices II and IX is attributed to ordering of the hydrogen bonds in the proton-ordered lattice of the latter phases. Density functional theory calculations including the influence of the Madelung potential of the ice IX crystal correctly account for the remaining preedge feature. Furthermore, we obtain spectroscopic evidence suggesting a possible new phase of ice at temperatures between 4 and 50 K.  相似文献

We determine the local structure of isolated positively charged muonium (Mu+) in heavily doped p-type GaAs based on muon level crossing resonance and zero applied field muon spin depolarization data. These measurements provide the first direct experimental confirmation that Mu+, and by analogy H+, is located within a stretched Ga-As bond. The distances between Mu+ and the nearest neighbor Ga and As atoms are estimated to be 1.83 +/- 0.10 A; and 1.76 +/- 0.10 A, respectively. These results are compared to existing theoretical calculations on the structure of hydrogen in GaAs and additionally provide data on the induced electric field gradients.  相似文献

A paramagnetic muonium (Mu) state with an extremely small hyperfine parameter was observed for the first time in single-crystalline GaN below 25 K. This paper describes the application of a novel broadband acoustic sensor to evaluating the acoustic emissions from cavitation produced by a typical commercial 20 kHz sonochemical horn processor. Investigations of the reproducibility of the processor, and of the variation in cavitation emissions as a function of output setting and sensor location are described, and resulting trends discussed in terms of the broadband integrated power in the megahertz frequency range. Companion studies with a conventional membrane hydrophone have illustrated for the first time that cavitation emissions produced by a sonochemical horn processor can extend to frequencies beyond 20 MHz, and the sensor shows that significant nonlinearity can be seen in measured cavitation activity with increasing nominal output power.  相似文献

Major antioxidants of aqueous ethanol extract from Lady's Finger (Hibiscus esculentus Linn) were systematically investigated in this study. Firstly, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was applied to identify antioxidant peaks in a sample by spiking the sample extract with 2,2'-azino-bis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) free radical, which was prepared from manganese dioxide and ABTS. Secondly, in order to identify the elution period of major antioxidant peaks, the antioxidant capacities of different fractions from solid-phase extraction (SPE) were measured, and the chromatograms of fractions were also recorded. Lastly, multiple mass spectrometry (MS(n)) was used to elucidate the possible chemical structures of antioxidants, and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) was further applied for structure confirmation. The major antioxidant compounds in lady's finger were identified to be quercetin derivatives and (-)-epigallocatechin using HPLC-MS and HPLC-MS(n) (n = 2-4) techniques. It was found that about 70% of total antioxidant activity was contributed by four quercetin derivatives. The structures of major antioxidants, which were isolated by semi-preparative RP-HPLC with two tandem C18 columns, were further confirmed using UV-vis absorption spectroscopy and 13C NMR spectra. Quercetin 3-O-xylosyl (1' --> 2') glucoside, quercetin 3-O-glucosyl (1' --> 6') glucoside, quercetin 3-O-glucoside and quercetin 3-O-(6'-O-malonyl)-glucoside were first identified and characterized as major antioxidants in lady's finger.  相似文献

We report an experimental demonstration of an ultracompact biochemical sensor based on a two-dimensional photonic crystal microcavity. The microcavity, fabricated on a silicon-on-insulator substrate, is designed to have a resonant wavelength (lambda) near 1.5 microm. The transmission spectrum of the sensor is measured with different ambient refractive indices ranging from n = 1.0 to n = 1.5. From observation of the shift in resonant wavelength, a change in ambient refractive index of delta(n) = 0.002 is readily apparent. The correspondence between absolute refractive index and resonant wavelength agrees with numerical calculation to within 4% accuracy. The evaporation of water in a 5% glycerol mixture is also used to demonstrate the capability for in situ time-resolved sensing.  相似文献
