Nuclear matter test for a separable non-localN-N interaction

A nuclear matter test has been conducted on a separable non-localN-N interaction proposed by Sirohi and Srivastava. The potential had been constructed by fitting the phase-shifts. The results obtained compare with those obtained by Tabakin in each partial wave. The binding energy per particle and the symmetry energy coefficient obtained are 19.4 MeV and 66.5 MeV respectively atk _F=1.65 fm⁻¹, while the best estimated values for these quantities are 16 MeV and 30–35 MeV atk _F=1.5 fm⁻¹. Single particle potential generated out of this NLSI has in general the same shape as the one obtained through Tabakin potential. Finally as a test of non-locality the integrated photoabsorption cross-section parameterh has been calculated and the value of 1.03 agrees with other reported values.     

Electrical transport in bulk amorphous selenium

D.C. conductivity measurements have been made as a function of temperature and external electric field on bulk amorphous selenium. A decrease in the activation energy with increase of electric field has been observed. This has been interpreted in terms of a mixed, thermally activated and trap limited conduction process.     

Fission track annealing and age determination of hornblende

Hornblende which occurs in igneous and metamorphic rocks is well suited for age determination by the fission track method. The tracks which are readily etched in hydrofluoric acid are annealed in 1 hr at 530° C. Extrapolation of the experimentally determined temperatures suggest that a temperature of 200° C for one m.y. will erase all the tracks present before the heating. Fission track ages of hornblende agree with the main orogenic metamorphic cycles.     

2,3-Pyridinediol as a specific reagent for the detection of iron

Summary Iron complexation with 2,3-pyridinediol is used to detect iron specifically in presence of common ions present in the scheme of qualitative analysis. The method finds use in detection of iron in alloys, salts and medicinal preparations.

Theory of radiation from relativistic positrons moving in the 〈110〉 axial channels of f.c.c. (diamond) crystal

The emission of radiation from relativistic positrons moving in the 〈110〉 axial channels of an f.c.c. (diamond) crystal has been studied. An expression for the radiation intensity has been obtained for the general case of positron motion. This expression has been simplified for the particular case of well-collimated incident beam. Enhancement of the radiation over (ordinary) bremsstrahlung has been discussed.     

Asymptotic normality of H-L estimators based on dependent data

LetX ₁,X ₂, ... be a strictly stationary φ-mixing sequence of r.v.'s with a common continuous cdfF. Let θ be a location parameter ofF. We prove the asymptotic normality of a class of Hodges-Lehmann estimators of θ under various regularity conditions on the mixing number φ and the underlyingF. We also establish the asymptotic linearity of signed rank statistics in the parameter θ. Our results also enable us to study the effect of φ-dependence on the asymptotic power of signed rank tests for testingH ₀: θ=0 againstH _n :θ=θ ₀ n ^?1/2,θ ₀≠0. Finally these results are shown to remain valid for strongly mixing processes {X _i } also.     

Observation of Meyer-Neldel rule in thermally activated Poole-Frenkel photoconduction in a-Se<Subscript>70</Subscript>Te<Subscript>30−<Emphasis Type="Italic">x</Emphasis></Subscript>Cd<Subscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">x</Emphasis></Subscript> thin films

In the present paper, we report the compensation effect on photoconductivity of thin films of Se₇₀Te_30−x Cd _x (x = 2, 4, 6) alloys for high field conduction. Steady state photoconductivity measurements have been made in thin films for different electric fields. The photoconduction was found to be ohmic at low fields and Poole-Frenkel type at high fields. Meyer-Neldel rule (MN rule) for the pre-exponential factor (σ _ph)₀ and activation energy (ΔE _ph) of photoconduction in thin films of Se₇₀Te_30−x Cd _x is observed in the present study.
