Syntheses of heterocycles, CXXX: Glomerine and arborine

A one step synthesis ofglomerine (2) [1.2-dimethyl-4(1H)-quinazolinone] andarborine (3) [1-methyl-2-benzyl-4(1H)-quinazolinone] is described.

     

Der Nachweis des Cadmiums durch selektive Papierchromatographie

Zusammenfassung Durch die Anwendung eines H₂S-haltigen Laufmittels werden die Ionen Cu²⁺, Pb²⁺, Bi³⁺ und Hg²⁺ am Startpunkt des Chromatogramms als Sulfide fixiert, während Cd²⁺ nach kurzer Laufzeit in scharf begrenzter Zone als Sulfid im Chromatogramm nachgewiesen wird. Als Arbeitsgefäße dienen Reagensgläser. Die Spezifitäten liegen für 5 g Cd bei Cd²⁺Cu²⁺=12000, Cd²⁺Pb²⁺=12000, Cd²⁺Bi³⁺=12000, Cd²⁺Hg²⁺=1100.Herrn Prof. Dr. O. Synthesis and Structural Characterization of [Mn(ethyl isonicotinate)(2)(N(3))(2)](n)(), a Two-Dimensional Alternating Ferromagnetic-Antiferromagnetic Compound. Magnetostructural Correlations for the End-to-End Pseudohalide-Manganese System

Three compounds with formula [Mn(L)(2)(N(3))(2)](n)(), in which L is 4-acpy = 4-acetylpyridine (1), Etinc = ethyl isonicotinate (2), and py = pyridine (3), have been studied from the magnetic point of view. The new compound [Mn(L)(2)(N(3))(2)](n)() (2) crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P2(1)/a (No. 14), formula [C(16)H(18)MnN(8)O(4)], with a = 15.176(5) ?, b = 9.060(3) ?, c = 15.760(6) ?, beta = 111.62(3) degrees, and Z = 4. Compounds 1 and 2 are two-dimensional systems, whereas 3 is a 3-D compound. Compound 2 shows ferromagnetic Mn(2)(N(3))(2) dimeric entities linked antiferromagnetically to the four neighboring dimeric entities by four end-to-end azido bridges, leading to an alternate ferromagnetic-antiferromagnetic two-dimensional compound. MO calculations have been performed to study the superexchange pathway for the manganese 1,3-azido system.     

Synthesis of non-k-region ortho-quinones of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from cyclic ketones

Non-K-region $\text{o}$-quinones of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are prepared in four steps from cyclic ketones via dehydrogenation of tetrahydrodiols with 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone.

The luminescence properties of about twentyfive model compounds representing the three main partial structures of bile pigments (namely pyrromethenes, pyrromethenones and methylenepyrrolylmethylenepyrrolinones) as well as tripyrrines and the geometrical isomers of aetiobiliverdin-IV- are reported. In these compounds there is usually only a very faint or even no fluorescence and phosphorescene as the pathway of deexcitation. Vibrational internal conversion and photoisomerizations at the exocyclic double bonds are the main anaerobic paths of radiationless decay of the excited states.

Untersuchungen zur Temperaturabhängigkeit charakteristischer IR-Absorptionen, 9. Mitt.: Zur Tautomerie des “o-Hydroxymandelsäurelactons”

Zusammenfassung Die Abhängigkeit der Struktur des o-Hydroxymandelsäurelactons von Lösungsmittel und Temperatur wird mit Hilfe IR- und NMR-spektroskopischer Methoden nachgewiesen.

The temperature and solvent dependence of the structures of 2-hydroxymandelic acid lactone and dioxindole have been shown by IR and NMR spectroscopy.

     

Variaminblau als colorimetrisches Reagens

Zusammenfassung Es wurde ein colorimetrisches Verfahren mit Variaminblau zur Bestimmung von Fe³⁺, Cr⁶⁺, Mn⁷⁺, V⁵⁺, Ag⁺, JO₃ ^–, J₂ und weiterer oxydierender Ionen entwickelt. Äquivalente Mengen dieser Ionen geben dieselbe Extinktion, so daß eine einzige Vergleichslösung zur Auswertung der Extinktionen aller Ionen genügend ist. Es werden die günstigsten Umstände für die Bestimmungen entwickelt, weiter wird ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung von Fe^III, Mn^VII, Cr^VI, V^V nebeneinander beschrieben.     

Übergangsmetall—methylen-komplexe: LXI. Übergangsmetall—vinyliden-komplexe: Neuartige synthese aus diazoalken-vorstufen

The diazoolefines of composition N₂CCR₂ (R/R = CH₃/CH₃ and(-CH₂-)₅) are suitable precursors of the corresponding vinylidene ligands CCR₂. Thus, treatment of the RhRh complex [(η⁵-C₅Me₅)Rh(μ-CO)]₂ (1) with the N-nitrosourethanes 2a and 2b, resp., in the presence of lithium t-butoxide yields the otherwise inaccessible μ-vinylidene complexes (μ-CCR₂)[(η⁵-C₅Me₅)Rh(CO)]₂ (R = CH₃ (3a), R,R = (-CH₂-)₅ (3b)). The analogous cobalt compound (μ-CCMe₂)[(η⁵-C₅Me₅)Co(CO)]₂ (5a) is obtained similarly. This procedure extends the well-documented diazoalkane method for the synthesis of μ-alkylidene complexes to the less stable diazoalkenes. A single-crystal X-ray diffraction study of the dimethylvinylidene derivative 3a shows the CMe₂ ligand to adopt an almost symmetrically metal-bridging position (d(RhC) 197.8(1) and 204.3(1) pm), with a rhodium-rhodium single bond completing a three-membered Rh₂C-metallacycle (d(RhRh) 268.4(0) pm) analogous with cyclopropane.

Preparation and physical and chemical properties of 3-ethinyl-2,4-diformyl-pentandial (3 a) and its salts are described.3 a contains 2 malonaldehyde groups. Starting from3 a, 4H-pyranes, 4H-dihydropyridines, dipyrazoles, diisoxazoles, bisdiazepines and vinamidine derivates are obtained.

Total Syntheses of the Alkaloids Ipalbidinium and Clathryimine B

 The indolizidinium alkaloid ipalbidinium and the quinolizidinium alkaloid clathryimine B were prepared starting from brominated 2-aminopyridines using two Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions and a Sandmeyer-type diazotation/iodination protocol as the key steps.
