A liquid crystal lens with focus movable in the focal plane is reported. There are three electrodes in the cell. One electrode with a hole in the center is divided into four subelectrodes. The potential of each subelectrode is adjusted to produce a desired asymmetrical phase transformation resulting in off-axis movement of the focus. The potential of another electrode is adjusted to maintain the focus in the focal plane. Movements of the focus in three directions in the focal plane are demonstrated experimentally, and off-axis movement as large as approximately 800 μm is realized. 相似文献

The analytical method using transfer function or impulse response is very effective for analyzing non-linear systems with localized non-linearities. This is because the number of non-linear equations can be reduced to that of the equations with respect to points connected with the non-linear element. In the present paper, analytical method for the steady state vibration of non-linear system including subharmonic vibration is proposed by utilizing convolution integral and the impulse response. The Galerkin method is introduced to solve the non-linear equations formulated by the convolution integral, and then the steady state vibration is obtained. An advantage of the present method is that stability or instability of the steady state vibration can be discriminated by the transient analysis from convolution integral. The three-degree-of-freedom mass-spring system is shown as a numerical example and the proposed method is verified by comparing with the result by Runge-Kutta-Gill method. 相似文献

The copper‐mediated atom transfer radical polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) in 1,1,1,3,3,3‐hexafluoro‐2‐propanol (HFIP) was studied to simultaneously control the molecular weight and tacticity. The polymerization using tris[2‐(dimethylamino)ethyl]amine (Me6TREN) as a ligand was performed even at ?78°C with a number‐average molecular weight (Mn) of 13,400 and a polydispersity (weight‐average molecular weight/number‐average molecular weight) of 1.31, although the measured Mn's were much higher than the theoretical ones. The addition of copper(II) bromide (CuBr2) apparently affected the early stage of the polymerization; that is, the polymerization could proceed in a controlled manner under the condition of [MMA]0/[methyl α‐bromoisobutyrate]0/[CuBr]0/[CuBr2]0/[Me6TREN]0 = 200/1/1/0.2/1.2 at ?20°C with an MMA/HFIP ratio of 1/4 (v/v). For the field desorption mass spectrum of CuIBr/Me6TREN in HFIP, there were [Cu(Me6TREN)Br]+ and [Cu(Me6TREN)OCH(CF3)2]+, indicating that HFIP should coordinate to the CuI/Me6TREN complex. The syndiotacticity of the obtained poly(methyl methacrylate)s increased with the decreasing polymerization temperature; the racemo content was 84% for ?78°C, 77% for ?30°C, 75% for ?20°C, and 63% for 30°C. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The factors affecting pattern‐forming properties in reaction development patterning were examined with polyarylates with various bisphenol moieties. The developability of the photosensitive polyarylates was dependent on the properties of the subtituent (R) in the bisphenol moieties. The development time decreased in the following order: R?C(CH3)2 > fluorenyl unit ? phenolphthalein unit > C(CF3)2 > SO2. This order agreed with that of the reactivity between the polyarylates and ethanolamine, and these orders can be explained by pKa of the bisphenol used to prepare the polyarylates. The development with NH2? R′? OH resulted in successful positive‐tone pattern formation. However, pattern formation with the developers containing NH2? R′? In this study, we attempted to control the timing of light-emission from bioluminescent bacteria, by changed cell numbers inoculated into medium. Luminous bacteria express bioluminescence when the number of cells reached a threshold. Inoculated cell density had an effect on the time of bioluminescence starting. Samples were prepared by varying cell density of inoculation. In the results, all the vials showed different luminescence profiles in the order of inoculated cell population. 相似文献

An approach to deduce the mechanism of stabilization of the hybrid-derived populations in the Ohomopterus ground beetles has been made by comparative studies on the phylogenetic trees of the mitochondrial and nuclear DNA. A phylogenetic tree based on the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) of nuclear ribosomal gene roughly reflects the relations of morphological species group, while mitochondrial NADH dehydrogenase subunit 5 (ND5) gene shows a considerable different topology on the tree; there exist several geographically-linked lineages, most of which consist of more than one species. These results suggest that the replacement of mitochondria has occurred widely in the Ohomopterus species. In most cases, hybridization is unidirectional, i.e., the species A (♂) hybridized with another species B (♀) and not vice versa, with accompanied replacement of mitochondria of A by those of B. The results also suggest that partial or complete occupation of the distribution territory by a hybrid-derived morphological species. The morphological appearance of the resultant hybrid-derivatives are recognized as that of the original species A. Emergence of a morphological new species from a hybrid-derived population has been exemplified. 相似文献

Mössbauer spectra of ferrocene adsorbed on silica gel were measured in order to study the state of adsorption. Ferrocene adsorbed on silica gel tended to oxidize in air and form ferricenium ion. It is assumed that the oxidation of adsorbed ferrocene was caused by surface hydroxyls on the silica gel and O2 in air. It was observed that ferrocene adsorbed weakly at 293 K, although the ferricenium ion adsorbed strongly at 293 K. Thus the adsorption states of ferrocene depend on the experimental condition. 相似文献
