Several quantum paramagnets exhibit magnetic-field-induced quantum phase transitions to an antiferromagnetic state that exists for H c1 ≤ H ≤ H c2. For some of these compounds, there is a significant asymmetry between the low- and high-field transitions. We present specific heat and thermal conductivity measurements in NiCl2-4SC(NH2)2, together with calculations which show that the asymmetry is caused by a strong mass renormalization due to quantum fluctuations for H ≤ H c1 that are absent for H ≥ H c2. We argue that the enigmatic lack of asymmetry in thermal conductivity is due to a concomitant renormalization of the impurity scattering.  相似文献

Theoretical and experimental studies on magnetic shielding of the phosphorus nucleus in trichloro-[2-(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)ethenyl]phosphonium hexachlorophosphate(V) and 1,1,1,1-tetrachloro-1H-1λ6-pyrazolo-[1,2-a][1,2,3]diazaphosphol-8-ium-1-ide showed that intramolecular coordination of the phosphorus atom in the chlorophosphonium group to the nitrogen atom in the pyrazole ring leads to upfield shift of the phosphorus signal (to δP 170 ppm) and that the contribution of the spin-orbital contribution to the 31P chemical shift reaches 15%. Relativistic effects and effects of the medium are determining in the theoretical calculation of 31P NMR chemical shifts.  相似文献

Adducts of cobalt(II) bis(salicylaldiminates) and 2,4,6,8-tetra-tert-butylphenoxazin-1-one were synthesized and their molecular and crystal structures were determined. According to the ESR and magnetochemical data, the metal atom is in the low-spin trivalent state (CoIII) due to the intramolecular electron transfer to the redox-active ligand. In the solid state, the mixedligand complexes are stable in air for several months, but in solution at elevated temperatures they dissociate to the starting components. Such a behavior detected by the temperature dependence of the effective magnetic moment is explained by the quantum chemical DFT calculations of the energy barriers of possible valence tautomeric dynamics, whose values were found to be higher than the enthalpy of dissociation.  相似文献

An induction method used to measure the drift current in thrusters with anode layer (TAL) has been applied for measuring the integral distortion of the magnetic field in the channel of a low-power stationary plasma thruster (SPT). Experiments are described in which the integral level of magnetic field oscillations in the narrow channel of a thruster with closed electron drift was determined. Experimental data show that when a discharge is ignited in an SPT, the drift current completely demagnetizes the discharge gap (the ratio between the self-magnetic and external fields reaches 90%). The same effect has been observed in TALs. In thrusters of both types, the total discharge current is one and a half order of magnitude higher than that typical of the stationary discharge and the plasma glow is observed not only inside but also outside the discharge channel. Drift current oscillations have been measured under steady-state conditions. It has been shown, in particular, that when the oscillations are intense (in weak magnetic fields on the order of 100 G), the drift-current-induced distortion of the magnetic field may reach 33%. Under rated operating conditions (200 G), the distortion does not exceed 8%. Beyond optimal operating conditions, the type of oscillation in SPTs and TALs and their performances differ. For example, in SPTs, a critical magnetic field at which the “turbulent” regime sets in is absent. In general, the discharge current is weakly dependent on the magnetic field.  相似文献
