An additional symmetry in the Weinberg-Salam model

An additional Z₆ symmetry hidden in the fermion and Higgs sectors of the Standard Model has been found recently. It has a singular nature and is connected to the centers of the SU(3) and SU(2) subgroups of the gauge group. A lattice regularization of the Standard Model was constructed that possesses this symmetry. In this paper, we report our results on the numerical simulation of its electroweak sector.     

Products of thermal desorption from silicon after its prior reaction with hydrogen chloride

Motion of a non-Newtonian liquid in the annular channel of an insulation-coating tool

The axisymmetric flow of a non-Newtonian liquid with an exponential rheological law between two coaxial cylinders is considered for the case when the outer cylinder is fixed and the inner cylinder moves freely together with the liquid. At the outer cylinder the liquid moves either with or without slip. Wagner-Meerwein skeletal rearrangement of 3-spiroannulated 6,8a-epoxy- and 6,8a;7,8-diepoxyisoquinolines (3-aza-11-oxatricyclo[6.2.1.0(1,6)]undec-9-enes). Isolation and identification of 5-aza-2-oxatricyclo[6.2.1.0(3,9)]undec-3-enes

The reactions of 3-acetyl-3-aza-11-oxatricyclo[6.2.1.0(1,6)]undec-9-ene and its 9,10-epoxy derivative with bromine and Ac(2)O/BF(3).OEt(2) under different conditions were studied. Unusual products of Wagner-Meerwein rearrangement bearing the olefin fragment (5-aza-2-oxatricyclo[6.2.1.0(3,9)]undecen-3-enes) were isolated and characterized by X-ray analysis.     

Band structure of the superconducting MgB2 compound and modeling of related ternary systems

Band structure of a novel superconductor—magnesium diboride—is studied by the self-consistent FP-LMTO method. Density of states near the Fermi level of MgB₂ and its electronic properties are governed by the metal-like boron 2p orbitals in the planar network of boron atoms. The modification of the band structure of MgB₂ upon doping the boron (with Be, C, N, and O substitutional impurities) and the magnesium (with Be, Ca, Li, and Na substitutional impurities) sublattices or upon the introduction of structural vacancies (boron nonstoichiomety) is analyzed. The electronic structures of MgB₂ and hypothetical CaB₂ are also studied as functions of pressure.
