The standard method to diagnose and follow-up osteoporosis is the measurement of bone mineral density (BMD) using dual X-ray
absorptiometry (DEXA). Manufacturers' manuals of DEXA devices state the intrascanner coefficient of variance is less than
0.01 g/cm2. The aim of this study was to evaluate the in vivo coefficient of variance of a Lunar DPX scanner in male and female healthy
adult subjects. Average BMD for females and males were 1.170±0.091 g/cm2 and 1.272±0.115 g/cm2, respectively. Monthly phantom measurements provided and controlled by the manufacturer were 1.243±0.008 g/cm2 (range 1.222 to 1.257) and the coefficient of variance was 0.006. It is concluded that the in vivo coefficient of variance
of DEXA devices can slightly be higher than that proposed by the manufacturer.

Perovskites of ABO3 type like strontium titanate (SrTiO3) are of great practical concern as materials for oxygen sensors operating at high temperatures. It is well known that the surface layer shows different properties compared to the bulk. Numerous studies exist for the SrTiO3(1 0 0) and (1 1 0) surfaces which have investigated the changes in the electronic structure and topography as a function of the preparation conditions. They have indicated a rather complex behaviour of the surface and the near surface region of SrTiO3 at elevated temperatures. Up to now, the behaviour of the SrTiO3(1 1 1) surfaces under thermal treatment is not sufficiently known. This contribution is intended to work out the relation between alteration of the surface topography with respect to the preparation conditions and the simultaneous changes of the electronic structure. We applied scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) to investigate the surface topography and, additionally, metastable impact electron spectroscopy (MIES) to study the surface electronic structure of reconstructed SrTiO3(1 1 1) surfaces. The crystals were heated up to 1000 °C under reducing and oxidizing conditions. Both preparation conditions cause strong changes of the surface topography and electronic structure. We study perturbations of the Erdös–Renyi model for which the statistical weight of a graph depends on the abundance of certain geometrical patterns. Using the formal correspondance with an exactly solvable effective model, we show the existence of a percolation transition in the thermodynamical limit and derive perturbatively the expression of the threshold. The free energy and the moments of the degree distribution are also computed perturbatively in that limit and the percolation criterion is compared with the Molloy–Reed criterion. 相似文献
