Pumping fluids in microfluidic systems using the elastic deformation of poly(dimethylsiloxane) 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
This paper demonstrates a methodology for storing and pumping fluids that provide a useful capability for microfluidic devices. It uses microfluidic screw valves to isolate fluids in poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) microcompartments, in which the pressure of the liquid is stored in the elastic deformation of the walls and ceiling of the compartments. Fluids can be stored under pressure in these structures for months. When the valves are opened, the walls and ceiling push the fluid out of the compartments into microfluidic channels. The system has five useful characteristics: (i) it is made using soft lithographic techniques; (ii) it allows multiple reagents to be preloaded in devices and stored under pressure without any additional user intervention; (iii) it makes it possible to meter out fluids in devices, and to control rates of flow of fluids; (iv) it prevents the user from exposure to potentially toxic reagents; and (v) it is hand-operated and does not require additional equipment or resources. 相似文献

Silver acetylides are among the oldest organometallics known; however, their applications in organic chemistry remained scarce until very recently. Indeed, several reactions involving silver salts as catalyst or silver acetylides have been reported in the past five years. The extreme mildness and very low basicity of these nucleophilic reagents nicely complement the behavior of other alkynyl metals, rendering them very useful in various transformations, especially in the synthesis of complex molecules. Silver acetylides are now seen as promising tools in organic chemistry. The composition of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in a soil is the product of a variety of soil processes. Changes in the composition of DOM in water discharged from soil should, therefore, give an important insight into modifications in these soil processes. We hypothesise that these processes in soils, under different grassland management regimes, would be affected to different extents by the short-term disturbance of a storm event and that evidence of this could be detected in delta(13)C and delta(15)N signatures in drainage and surface runoff waters. During a storm event we collected discharge waters from 1 ha grassland lysimeters, with or without artificial drainage, which received contrasting fertiliser inputs, and delta(13)C and delta(15)N signatures were determined. Changes in (13)C enrichment during the storm event were clearly identifiable, as were differences between plots for (13)C and (15)N, illustrating that this technique has potential to be a useful tool for identifying and investigating short- and long-term changes in soil organic matter dynamics. Photon stimulated ion desorption (PSID) studies from poly(sulphone) (PS) have been carried out by using high-resolution time-of-flight mass spectrometry. Synchrotron radiation at the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Source (LNLS) operating in a single-bunch mode was used as excitation source. PS was excited at the sulphur 1s-edge and the desorption of small and large fragments has been observed. The results are discussed in terms of the X-ray induced electron stimulated desorption mechanism. The present results contrast with previous ones reported for poly(3-methylthiophene) (PMeT), in which the observation of S+ and S2+ was interpreted solely in terms of an Auger-stimulated ion desorption mechanism. 相似文献
