CuCl-Catalyzed ring-opening isomerization of gem-chlorofluorocyclopropanes with the formation of chlorofluoroalkenes and chlorofluoroalkadienes

The ability of copper(I) chloride to catalyze the ring-opening isomerization of alkyl-, phenyl-, vinyl-, and cyclopropyl-substituted gem-chlorofluorocyclopropanes to chlorofluoroalkenes or chlorofluoroalkadienes was found.     

The Effect of the Complexation of <Emphasis Type="Italic">p-N,N</Emphasis>-Dimethylaminobenzoic Acid and <Emphasis Type="Italic">p-N,N</Emphasis>-Dimethylaminobenzonitrile with LaCl<Subscript>3</Subscript> on Spectral-luminescent Parameters of Fluorophores

The LE band fluorescence enhancement of p-N,N-dimethylaminobenzoic acid (DMABA) and p-N,N-dimethylaminobenzonitrile (DMABN) was found in aprotic acetonitrile and butyronitrile at the addition of LaCl₃. The corresponding ICT fluorescence band remains unchanged. This enhancement is explained by the decrease of the internal conversion rate constant in a coordination complex with LaCl₃. The formation of the coordination complex between DMABA and LaCl₃ in ethanol is accompanied by the efficient fluorescence quenching in LE and ICT bands, in parallel with the enhancement of ICT/LE emission ratio. The experimental data are well described by the proposed kinetic schemes.     

Influence of the special features of the effective magnetic anisotropy on the temperature dependences of the magnetoimpedance of nanocrystalline Fe<Subscript>73.5</Subscript>Si<Subscript>16.5</Subscript>B<Subscript>6</Subscript>Nb<Subscript>3</Subscript>Cu<Subscript>1</Subscript> strips

The influence of the thermal treatment type on the temperature dependences of the magnetoimpedance of nanocrystalline Fe_73.5Si_16.5B₆Nb₃Cu₁ alloy strips is investigated. The main mechanisms determining the temperature behavior of the magnetoimpedance of strips with induced magnetic anisotropy having various special features are established. The prospects for application of the alloy strips nanocrystallized in the presence of a magnetic field as sensitive elements of temperature sensors and special magnetic field detectors are demonstrated.     

Continuous loading of a conservative potential trap from an atomic beam

We demonstrate the fast accumulation of 52Cr atoms in a conservative potential from a guided atomic beam. Without laser cooling on a cycling transition, a dissipative step involving optical pumping allows us to load atoms at a rate of 2×10(7) s(-1) in the trap. Within less than 100 ms we reach the collisionally dense regime, from which we produce a Bose-Einstein condensate with subsequent evaporative cooling. This constitutes a new approach to degeneracy where Bose-Einstein condensation can be reached without a closed cycling transition, provided that a slow beam of particles can be produced.
