The geometry, harmonic and anharmonic force fields, and fundamental vibrational frequencies of cis- and trans-thiolformic acid are studied ab initio in the 4-31G basis set. An extensive comparison is made between changes in diagonal and off-diagonal quadratic and cubic force constants and diagonal stretching quartic constants in going from the chain to the ring structure in thiolformic acid and formic acid. The changes in the force constants are indicative of a much weaker interaction in the trans conformer between S? H and O?C, compared with O–H and O?C, in keeping with the weaker hydrogenbonding property of the S? H group in general. 相似文献

We discuss the relaxation dynamics of glycerol-water mixtures, as studied by dielectric spectroscopy in the frequency range from 1 Hz to 250 MHz and at temperatures between 173 and 323 K. The experimental results obtained for the glycerol-rich mixtures suggest that the main dielectric relaxation process, as well as the so-called high-frequency "excess wing" (EW) and dc conductivity, follow the same temperature dependence. This result indicates that all of these processes are induced by the same molecular origin. A new phenomenological function is proposed to describe the whole dielectric spectrum in the covered frequency range, and some possible mechanisms of dielectric behaviors through the dc conductivity, the main relaxation process, and the EW are discussed. 相似文献

The results of (low energy) photoelectron spectroscopy render possible a better appreciation of the “Nature of the Chemical Bond”. The application of this new experimental method is demonstrated utilizing representative compounds of the nonmetal elements, and a close symbiosis delineated with molecular orbital models. In particular, general consequences are discussed concerning electron deficiency, σ- and π-interactions, electron pair delocalization, and substituent effects or geometric perturbations. Photoelectron spectroscopic ionization energies permit evaluation of parameters for specified molecular groups, allow correlation with numerous other experimental data, and are didactically valuable in the teaching of general chemistry. 相似文献

Structures and Molecular Properties of Charge-Pertubed Molecules. 2, 3-Diphenylquinoxaline Radical Anions in Solution and in Crystals The Na⊕ and K⊕ radical-ion salts of 2, 3-diphenylquinoxaline seem to be (according to a structural database search) among the first ones of N-heterocyclic radical anions in crystals. The one-electron reduction in aprotic 1, 2-dimethoxyethan (DME) solution at metal mirrors and the crystallization under Ar have been preceded by cyclovoltammetric (CV) and ESR/ENDOR measurement. The first electron insertion at ?1.63 V proves to be reversible, whereas the irreversible second step, which is accompanied by an overcrossing of the CV line, can be rationalized by an ‘ECE-DISP’ mechanism via a dianion redox disproportionation. The ENDOR spectrum resolves four 1H couplings and allows to simulate the ESR spectrum including the 14N hyperfine splittings. Both dark-blue single crystals of the radical ion salts $[2,3{\rm - diphenylquinoxaline}^{{.} \ominus} {\rm Met}^ \oplus ({\rm DME})]^.$ show unexpected similarities for Met⊕ = Na⊕, K⊕ despite the 36-pm difference in their ionic radii. The largest structural changes inflicted by the one-electron reduction of the N-heterocyclic molecule are observed in the vicinity of the N-centers bearing the highest effective nuclear charge. The DME-chelated metal cations coordinate at the N electron pairs and form Met⊕(DME)-bridged polymer chains of the radical anion, which are differently ondulated in the Na⊕ and K⊕ radical anion salts. The take-home lesson suggests that many more N-heterocyclic molecules might be analogously reduced under optimized conditions and isolated as single crystals. 相似文献

PCl2, ClH2? PCl2, (H3C)H2C? PCl2 and (H3C)2HC? PCl2 split off HCl on heating in a gasflow under reduced pressure. PE spectroscopic gas analysis proves that under these conditions the short-lived phosphaalkenes H2C?PCl, (H3C)H2C?PCl and – catalyzed by [MgCl2? MgO/SiO2]∞ – (H3C)2C?PCl as well as the phosphaalkines HC≡P and (H3C)C≡P are formed, all of which can be isolated by low temperature condensation. Based on the PES ionization patterns recorded and on the MNDO calculations for their assignment, the πCP multiple bonds are discussed. The reaction of [Ni(Mes2Im)2] (1) (Mes2Im = 1,3-dimesityl-imidazolin-2-ylidene) with polyfluorinated arenes as well as mechanistic investigations concerning the insertion of 1 and [Ni(iPr2Im)2] (1ipr) (iPr2Im = 1,3-diisopropyl-imidazolin-2-ylidene) into the C–F bond of C6F6 is reported. The reaction of 1 with different fluoroaromatics leads to formation of the nickel fluoroaryl fluoride complexes trans-[Ni(Mes2Im)2(F)(ArF)] (ArF = 4-CF3-C6F42, C6F53, 2,3,5,6-C6F4N 4, 2,3,5,6-C6F4H 5, 2,3,5-C6F3H26, 3,5-C6F2H37) in fair to good yields with the exception of the formation of the pentafluorophenyl complex 3 (less than 20%). Radical species and other diamagnetic side products were detected for the reaction of 1 with C6F6, in line with a radical pathway for the C–F bond activation step using 1. The difluoride complex trans-[Ni(Mes2Im)2(F)2] (9), the bis(aryl) complex trans-[Ni(Mes2Im)2(C6F5)2] (15), the structurally characterized nickel(i) complex trans-[NiI(Mes2Im)2(C6F5)] (11) and the metal radical trans-[NiI(Mes2Im)2(F)] (12) were identified. Complex 11, and related [NiI(Mes2Im)2(2,3,5,6-C6F4H)] (13) and [NiI(Mes2Im)2(2,3,5-C6F3H2)] (14), were synthesized independently by reaction of trans-[Ni(Mes2Im)2(F)(ArF)] with PhSiH3. Simple electron transfer from 1 to C6F6 was excluded, as the redox potentials of the reaction partners do not match and [Ni(Mes2Im)2]+, which was prepared independently, was not detected. DFT calculations were performed on the insertion of [Ni(iPr2Im)2] (1ipr) and [Ni(Mes2Im)2] (1) into the C–F bond of C6F6. For 1ipr, concerted and NHC-assisted pathways were identified as having the lowest kinetic barriers, whereas for 1, a radical mechanism with fluoride abstraction and an NHC-assisted pathway are both associated with almost the same kinetic barrier.A combined experimental and theoretical study on the mechanism of the C–F bond activation of C6F6 with [Ni(NHC)2] is provided. 相似文献

Interaction in Crystals: The Keyboard of Na⊕ Coordination Numbers in Its Carbazole Anion Salts Some local minima in the shallow potential of the system carbazole anion, sodium cation, and the ethers tetrahydrofuran, 1,2-dimethoxyethane, diglyme, triglyme, tetraglyme, 15-crown-5 as well as 2.2.1-cryptand are explored experimentally and by quantum-chemical calculations. Three prototype contact-ion multiples of Na⊕-solvated carbazole anion M? salts have been crystallized and structurally characterized: polyether-solvated monomers [M?Na⊕solv]1, solvent-shared dimers [M?Na⊕solv]2, and solvent-separated polyions [(M?)nNa?solv](n?1)? [Na⊕solv](n?1). The Na⊕ coordination numbers stretch from 3 to 7 as illustrated by the compounds [(M?)3Na+]??[Na+(2.2.1-crytand)]2 for 3 and 7, [(M?)2Na+(THF)2]? [Na⊕(2.2.1-cryptand)] for 4 and 7, [M? Na+(diglyme)]2 for 5, or [M? Na+(l 5-crown-5)] for 6. Structural comparison is based on literature analogies as well as on results of MNDO calculations concerning charge distribution and enthalpies of formation. The NagR protein is a response regulatory protein found in the bacterium Ralstonia sp. U2 that is involved in sensing for salicylic acid and the subsequent induction of the operaon just upstream of its gene.
The genes encoded for in this operon are involved in the degradation of salicylic acid. Escherichia coli strain RFM443 carrying a fusion of the Photorhabdus luminesscens luxCDABE operon with the nagR gene and upstream region of the nagAa gene was constructed and characterized with respect to its optimum temperature, its response time and kinetics, and its ability
to deterctnumerous benzoic acid derivatives. Although capable of detecting 0.5 mM salicylic acid at any temperature between 28 and 40°C, this E. coli strain, labeled DNT5, showed its greatest relative activity at 30°C, i.e., the temperature at which the largest induction
was seen. Furthermore, experiments done with numerous benzoic acid derivatives found the NagR protein to be responsive to
only a few of the compounds tested, including salicylic acid and 3-methyl salicylic acid and 3-methyl saliyclic acid, and
acetyl salicylic acid was the strongest inducer. The lower limits of detection for these compounds with E. coli strain DNT5 were also established, wit the native inducer, salicylic acid, giving the most sensitive response and detectable
down to a concentration of about 2 μM. A second lux fusion plasmid was also constructed and transformed into an NahR background, Pseudomonas putida KCTC1768. Within this strain, NAGK-1768, the supplemental activity of the NahR protein on the nagAn promoter, was shown to extend both the range of chemicals detected and the sensitivity. 相似文献

Platinum(II) and palladium(II) complexes of the potentially hexadentate P,N-donor ligand family Ar2P-X-PAr2 (X = (CH2)2 [dmape], cyclic-C5H8 [dmapcp]; Ar = o-N,N-dimethylanilinyl) are described. In CH2Cl2, the dmape complexes exist as equilibrium mixtures of MCl2(P,P'-dmape) and [MCl(P,P',N-dmape)]Cl isomers (M = Pd, Pt), governed by deltaH(o) = -19 +/- 4 kJ mol(-1) and deltaS(o) = -100 +/- 30 J mol(-1) K(-1) for M = Pt, and deltaH(o) = -11 +/- 7 kJ mol(-1) and deltaS(o) = -60 +/- 20 J mol(-1) K(-1) for M = Pd. The water-soluble dmapcp complexes exist solely in the [MCl(P,P',N-dmapcp)]Cl form, but the free and coordinated anilinyl rings in these complexes are in slow diastereoselective exchange. X-ray crystal structures for MCl2(P,P'-dmape) (M = Pd, Pt), and the [PdCl(P,P',N-dmape)]+ and [PtCl(P,P',N-dmapcp)]+ cations, are presented. Some of the complexes show marginal activity in water for the catalyzed hydration of maleic to malic acid, giving about 6-7% conversion in 24 h at 100 degrees C and substrate:catalyst loadings of 100:1. Attempts to synthesize a PdCl(P,P',N-dmapm)+ species led instead to isolation of [Pd(mu-Cl)(P,P'-dmapm)]2[PF6]2 (dmapm = Ar2PCH2Ar2). 相似文献
