We study the quark-mass dependence of \(\omega \rightarrow 3\pi \) decays, based on a dispersion-theoretical framework. We rely on the quark-mass-dependent scattering phase shift for the pion–pion P-wave extracted from unitarized chiral perturbation theory. The dispersive representation then takes into account the final-state rescattering among all three pions. The described formalism may be used as an extrapolation tool for lattice QCD calculations of three-pion decays, for which \(\omega \rightarrow 3\pi \) can serve as a paradigm case.  相似文献

Background  

The hematopoietic Granulocyte-Colony Stimulating Factor (G-CSF) plays a crucial role in controlling the number of neutrophil progenitor cells. Its function is mediated via the G-CSF receptor, which was recently found to be expressed also in the central nervous system. In addition, G-CSF provided neuroprotection in models of neuronal cell death. Here we used the retinal ganglion cell (RGC) axotomy model to compare effects of local and systemic application of neuroprotective molecules.  相似文献

Background  

Dysphagia is a major complication of different diseases affecting both the central and peripheral nervous system. Pharyngeal sensory impairment is one of the main features of neurogenic dysphagia. Therefore an objective technique to examine the cortical processing of pharyngeal sensory input would be a helpful diagnostic tool in this context. We developed a simple paradigm to perform pneumatic stimulation to both sides of the pharyngeal wall. Whole-head MEG was employed to study changes in cortical activation during this pharyngeal stimulation in nine healthy subjects. Data were analyzed by means of synthetic aperture magnetometry (SAM) and the group analysis of individual SAM data was performed using a permutation test.  相似文献

We present a dispersive analysis of the decay amplitude for \(\eta '\rightarrow \eta \pi \pi \) that is based on the fundamental principles of analyticity and unitarity. In this framework, final-state interactions are fully taken into account. Our dispersive representation relies only on input for the \({\pi \pi }\) and \({\pi }\eta \) scattering phase shifts. Isospin symmetry allows us to describe both the charged and neutral decay channel in terms of the same function. The dispersion relation contains subtraction constants that cannot be fixed by unitarity. We determine these parameters by a fit to Dalitz-plot data from the VES and BES-III experiments. We study the prediction of a low-energy theorem and compare the dispersive fit to variants of chiral perturbation theory.  相似文献

Re–attachment of separated flow is investigated for the model problem of a backward facing step at moderate Reynolds number (up to 400), where the length of the detachment zone is reduced by blowing in (or sucking out) fluid through a nozzle below the step. Both optimal feed forward control as well as a simple feedback control are considered, with surprisingly good results obtained by a very simple (non–optimal) linear feedback controller. Bedload sediment transport of two-size coarse spherical particle mixtures in a turbulent supercritical flow was analyzed with image and particle tracking velocimetry algorithms in a two-dimensional flume. The image processing procedure is entirely presented. Experimental results, including the size, the position, the trajectory, the state of movement (rest, rolling, and saltation), and the neighborhood configuration of each bead, were compared with a previous one-size experiment. Analysis of the solid discharge along the vertical displayed only one peak of rolling in the two-size bed, whereas three peaks of rolling appeared in the one-size case due to a larger collective motion. The same contrast is evidenced in spatio-temporal diagrams where the two-size mixtures are characterized by the predominance of saltation and a smaller number of transitions between rest and rolling. The segregation of fine particles in a bed formed by larger particles was analyzed taking into account the neighborhood configurations.  相似文献

Symmetry and spin dephasing in (110)-grown GaAs quantum wells (QWs) are investigated applying magnetic field induced photogalvanic effect and time-resolved Kerr rotation. We show that magnetic field induced photogalvanic effect provides a tool to probe the symmetry of (110)-grown quantum wells. The photocurrent is only observed for asymmetric structures but vanishes for symmetric QWs. Applying Kerr rotation we prove that in the latter case the spin relaxation time is maximal; therefore, these structures set the upper limit of spin dephasing in GaAs QWs. We also demonstrate that structure inversion asymmetry can be controllably tuned to zero by variation of delta-doping layer positions.  相似文献

We present a method to characterize surface-chemical properties of gold nanocrystals. Spherical, 60 nm gold nanocrystals were immobilized on quartz substrates by a coupling agent and cleaned in a hydrogen plasma. The nanocrystals were then functionalized with alkanethiol self-assembled monolayers (SAM) of varying chain lengths by adsorption from the gas phase, and localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) spectroscopy was performed on the samples. Depending on the alkanethiol chain length, the adsorption of the SAM redshifted the LSPR to different extents, in accordance with Mie theory. SAM thickness differences below 1 nm could be easily resolved. Our results demonstrate that LSPR spectroscopy can be applied to characterize thin organic layers on dry supported gold particles with high sensitivity.  相似文献

A model-based approach is proposed to objectively measure and classify vocal fold vibrations by left-right asymmetries along the anterior-posterior direction, especially in the case of nonstationary phonation. For this purpose, vocal fold dynamics are recorded in real time with a digital high-speed camera during phonation of sustained vowels as well as pitch raises. The dynamics of a multimass model with time-dependent parameters are matched to vocal fold vibrations extracted at dorsal, medial, and ventral positions by an automatic optimization procedure. The block-based optimization accounts for nonstationary vibrations and compares the vocal fold and model dynamics by wavelet coefficients. The optimization is verified with synthetically generated data sets and is applied to 40 clinical high-speed recordings comprising normal and pathological voice subjects. The resulting model parameters allow an intuitive visual assessment of vocal fold instabilities within an asymmetry diagram and are applicable to an objective quantification of asymmetries.  相似文献

We discuss the importance of phase information and coherence times in determining the dynamo properties of turbulent flows. We compare the kinematic dynamo properties of three flows with the same energy spectrum. The first flow is dominated by coherent structures with nontrivial phase information and long eddy coherence times, the second has random phases and long-coherence time, the third has nontrivial phase information, but short coherence time. We demonstrate that the first flow is the most efficient kinematic dynamo, owing to the presence of sustained stretching and constructive folding. We argue that these results place limitations on the possible inferences of the dynamo properties of flows from the use of spectra alone, and that the role of coherent structures must always be accounted for.  相似文献
