Oxygen-carrying plasma hemoprotein “albumin-heme”: nitric oxide binding and physiological responses after administration in vivo

Recombinant human serum albumin complexed with tetraphenylporphinatoiron(II) derivative, “albumin-heme (rHSA-FeP)”, is a synthetic oxygen (O₂)-carrying plasma hemoprotein, which becomes a new class of red blood cell substitute. The UV-vis. absorption and ESR spectroscopy revealed that rHSA-FeP formed six-coordinate nitrosyl complex after exposure of nitric oxide (NO) gas. Although the NO-binding affinity of rHSA-FeP (P_1/2^NO: 1.7 × 10⁻⁶ Torr, pH 7.3, 25°C) is 9-fold higher compared to that of hemoglobin (Hb), the administration of this artificial hemoprotein solution into anesthetized rat does not induce an acute increase in blood pressure (hypertension), which is often observed in Hb-based O₂-carriers due to the depletion of NO (endothelial derived relaxing factor).     

Novel Hole‐Transport Material for Efficient Polymer Light‐Emitting Diodes by Photoreaction

Summary: The photo‐crosslinking of carbazole dendrimers was analyzed by UV and IR spectroscopic methods. Photoirradiation results in the formation of a film that is insoluble in toluene and benzene. Time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry studies revealed that the photoirradiation lead to an oligomerization of the dendrimer through crosslinking. The resulting insoluble dendrimer film could be applied as a hole‐transport layer in efficient polymer electroluminescence devices (PLEDs).

Luminance‐voltage characteristics for PLEDs wherein PEDOT:PSS and CbzG3 complex with SnCl₂ were employed as the hole transport layer (ITO/HTL/EML/Ca/Ag).     

Easily Switchable 18π-, 19π-, and 20π-Conjugation of Diazaporphyrin Double-Pincer Bispalladium Complexes

Ni^II 3,7,13,17-tetrapyridyl-5,15-diazaporphyrin serves as a double tridentate ligand to Pd^II ions to provide a pincer-type bispalladium complex. Electrochemical analysis revealed that the bispalladium complex shows excellent ability to accept electrons and reversible redox properties due to the coordination of the two cationic Pd^II centers to the meso-nitrogen atoms. We isolated and characterized one- and two-electron reduction species of the bispalladium complex. The 20π antiaromatic nature of the two-electron reduction species was confirmed by ¹H NMR spectroscopy, UV/Vis-near-IR (NIR) absorption spectra, and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. X-ray diffraction revealed highly twisted structures for the bispalladium complexes regardless of the oxidation state.
