The inhibited photo-oxidation of polystyrene and styrene/HALS copolymers

The influence of molecular weight and the mode of binding of HALS stabilisers on their efficiency in the inhibited photo-oxidation of polystyrene and styrene/HALS copolymers was investigated. Photo-oxidation was performed with radiation of λ > 310 nm and 366 nm. The following functionalised HALS stabilisers were prepared: 4-methacryloylamino-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine, 4-methacryloyloxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine, 4-methacryloyloxy-1,2,2,6,6-pentamethylpiperidine and 15-methacryloyl-7,15-diazadispiro [5.1,5.3] hexadecane-14,16-dione. Binding by copolymerisation is substantially less efficient than addition of low molecular weight stabiliser.     

Initial State Interaction in the (π+,3p) Reaction on N, Ar and Xe

The pion absorption reaction (π^{+,3 p} ) on Ar was studied at pion energies of 70, 118, 162 and 239 MeV, and on N and Xe at 239 MeV. The 3p cross section with a 50 MeV cut on the missing energy is presented. The existence of an initial state interaction (ISI) component to the reaction was investigated. The portion of the 3p cross section assigned to the ISI process is less than one half and at lower energies significantly so. Received: 11 December 1997     

Carbonaceous phases by IR laser-induced decomposition of 3-butyn-2-one

2 laser radiation in the gas phase results in the deposition of carbonaceous films composed of a graphitic and monohydrogenated carbon, in which H is dominantly bonded to sp³ sites. The films incorporate oxygen in the topmost layers. The technique is suitable for the preparation of thin C-based films at low substrate temperatures. Appearance of localized superconductivity in magnetic field: Possible percolation mechanism of conductivity

The case of small defect with the transition temperature higher than in the bulk is studied. It is shown that localized superconductivity appears in magnetic field — in zero field it does not exist. The percolation mechanism as well as anisotropic character resistivity is studied.
