The influence of maneuvering on the chaotic response of a fluttering buckled plate on an aircraft has been studied. The governing equations, derived using Lagrangian mechanics, include geometric non-linearities associated with the occurrence of tensile stresses, as well as coupling between the angular velocity of the maneuver and the elastic degrees of freedom. Numerical simulation for periodic and chaotic responses are conducted in order to analyze the influence of the pull-up maneuver on the dynamic behavior of the panel. Long-time histories phase-plane plots, and power spectra of the responses are presented. As the maneuver (load factor) increases, the system exhibits complicated dynamic behavior including a direct and inverse cascade of subharmonic bifurcations, intermittency, and chaos. Beside these classical routes of transition from a periodic state to chaos, our calculations suggest amplitude modulation as a possible new mode of transition to chaos. Consequently this research contributes to the understanding of the mechanisms through which the transition between periodic and strange attractors occurs in, dissipative mechanical systems. In the case of a prescribed time dependent maneuver, a remarkable transition between the different types of limit cycles is presented.Nomenclature

Cellular long-range transport involves motor proteins (MPs) (especially, kinesin and myosin) which contain a so-called relay helix. Its motion is of crucial importance to the conversion of chemical energy released in ATP hydrolysis into the coordinated mechanical movement of the entire motor protein. In this paper, we propose two combined nonlinear mechanisms for this particular functional activity and suggest the application of neutron scattering assays to experimentally determine the incoherent dynamic structure factor S(q,ω). We find numerically that a regular array of isolated ring defects can exist as a stable state in a highly chiral liquid crystal confined in a thin cell imposing fixed planar anchoring at the parallel confining surfaces. This peculiar defect structure can be stable when the cell thickness d is around 3/4 of the helical pitch p. A cell of thickness 3p/4 with parallel surface anchoring is incompatible with helical alignment that favors d=mp/2 (with m being an integer). Formation of ring defects can thus be regarded as a result of frustrations between the helical alignment with a specific pitch and the confining surfaces that prevent it. 相似文献

Requirements for higher and higher performances of contemporary guns intensify investigations concerning influence of various factors on barrel erosion. The most important parameter for the life of the gun is the type of the gun propellant. The device based on modification of 37 mm M39 gun for investigating influence of gun propellant on barrel erosion is used. The nozzle (main part of device) mass loss during firing was the measure of gun propellant erosivity. The theory of nozzle erosion includes basic thermal, chemical and metallurgical factors. The main thermal and chemical factors are maximum nozzle inside surface temperature and gun propellant composition. The maximum nozzle surface temperature was determined theoretically by developed interior ballistic model with heat transfer, and experimentally by micro thermocouples measurements and solution of inverse heat conduction problem. A spectral graph theory is a theory in which graphs are studied by means of eigenvalues of a matrix M which is in a prescribed way defined for any graph. This theory is called M-theory. We outline a spectral theory of graphs based on the signless Laplacians Q and compare it with other spectral theories, in particular to those based on the adjacency matrix A and the Laplacian L. As demonstrated in the first part, the Q-theory can be constructed in part using various connections to other theories: equivalency with A-theory and L-theory for regular graphs, common features with L-theory for bipartite graphs, general analogies with A-theory and analogies with A-theory via line graphs and subdivision graphs. In this part, we introduce notions of enriched and restricted spectral theories and present results on integral graphs, enumeration of spanning trees, characterizations by eigenvalues, cospectral graphs and graph angles. 相似文献

In this paper, examination of the aerial parts of seven Senecio species from Serbia and Montenegro is reported. In this paper, we shall give a survey of applications of the theory of graph spectra to Computer Science. Eigenvalues and eigenvectors of several graph matrices appear in numerous papers on various subjects relevant to information and communication technologies. In particular, we survey applications in modeling and searching Internet, in computer vision, data mining, multiprocessor systems, statistical databases, and in several other areas. Some related new mathematical results are included together with several comments on perspectives for future research. In particular, we claim that balanced subdivisions of cubic graphs are good models for virus resistent computer networks and point out some advantages in using integral graphs as multiprocessor interconnection networks. 相似文献
