Solution-solid phase equilibrium in the systems copper(II) halide-aprotic organic solvent-water

In the study of the solution-solid phase equilibrium in CuX₂-S-H₂O system (X = Cl, Br, S = dimethyl sulfoxide, N, N-dimethylformamide, tetrahydrofuran, 1,4-dioxane) at 25°C we established the effect of the solvent properties and the type of the halide ligand (dielectric premeability, donor number, hydrophobicity) on the solubility of the solid phase in binary and ternary systems, the length of the fields of crystallization of the compounds and the structure of the water-organic solvates.     

Solution-solid phase equilibrium in the systems MgBr<Subscript>2</Subscript>-NR<Subscript>4</Subscript>Br-H<Subscript>2</Subscript>O at 25°C (R = Me,Et, Bu)

Solubility in the ternary systems MgBr₂-NR₄Br-H₂O (R = Me, Et, Bu) at 25°C was determined by the isothermal saturation method. A comparative analysis of phase diagrams was fulfilled. The results obtained were interpreted in the context of competition between hydration and association processes in water-salt systems. The structure of double salts NMe₄Br·MgBr₂·6H₂O and NEt₄Br·MgBr₂·8H₂O was determined, and the possibility for predicting compositions of crystallizing double salts on the basis of crystallographic characteristics of ions was analyzed.     

Structure of NR<Subscript>4</Subscript>BR-H<Subscript>2</Subscript>O and CoBr<Subscript>2</Subscript>-NR<Subscript>4</Subscript>BR-H<Subscript>2</Subscript>O solutions according to electronic and IR spectroscopy data

Absorption spectra of NR₄Br-H₂O and CoBr₂-NR₄Br-H₂O (R = Et, Bu) aqueous solutions were measured within the range of 1000–25000 cm⁻¹, and the influence of tetraalkylammonium cations on the equilibrium between cobalt octahedral and tetrahedral complexes was revealed. The specificity of hydration interactions in solutions under study in various concentration ranges and resulting from them difference in spectral characteristics were analyzed. Variously directed changes in positions of bands in the region of stretching vibrations, a composite frequency of 5200 cm⁻¹, and the first water overtone occurring due to the concentration variation were found.     

Adsorption of copper(II) ions from aqueous solutions on alumina industrial wastes

Equilibrium adsorption of copper(II) ions on red mud (alumina industrial wastes) modified by various methods was studied. The effect exerted by the nature the modifier (NaHSO₄, NaCl + HCl, and H₂SO₄) on the sorption activity of red mud was determined.

Infrared and Raman spectroscopic and theoretical studies of nonaaqua complexes of trivalent rare earth metal ions

Infrared (IR), far-infrared (far-IR) and Raman spectra have been recorded of the hydrated lanthanide(III) trifluoromethanesulfonates, [Ln(OH2)9](CF3SO3)3, (Ln=La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu), and also for the deuterated [La(OD2)9](CF3SO3)3 compound. This has enabled complete assignments of all seven metal-oxygen stretching modes for the first time. Force constant calculations have been performed for an LnO9(3+) moiety, with a tricapped trigonal prismatic oxygen atom arrangement in D3h point group symmetry. The lanthanide contraction in reflected in continuously increasing trends for the averaged LnO stretching frequencies and force constants with increasing inverse of ionic radii. The stretching force constants increased from 0.81 to 1.16 Ncm-1 for the LnO6 prism in the series from La to Lu, while those for the capping LnO3 bonds increased from 0.49 to 0.65 Ncm-1. The LnO stretching force constants showed a smooth correlation with the LnO bond distances to the prism oxygen atoms, while the correlation to the LnO capping oxygen atoms has a different shape, reflecting the increased ligand-ligand repulsion with decreasing lanthanide ion size.     

Dynamics of η→3π0 decay

The η→3π⁰ decay was studied with the SND detector at the VEPP-2Me ⁺ e ^? collider. The parameter that describes deviation of the Dalitz plot of events from a uniform distribution was found to be α=?0.010±0.021±0.010.
