Schemes such as phase-modulated Lee–Goldburg (PMLG) for homonuclear dipolar decoupling have been shown to yield high-resolution 1H spectra at high magic-angle spinning (MAS) frequencies of 50–70 kHz. This is at variance to the commonly held notion that these methods require MAS frequencies not comparable to the cycle frequencies of the pulse schemes. Here, a theoretical argument, based on bimodal Floquet theory, is presented to explain this aspect together with conditions where PMLG type of schemes may be successful at high MAS frequencies.  相似文献

We point out that modern brane theories suffer from a severe vacuum energy problem. To be specific, the Casimir energy associated with the matter fields confined to the brane, is stemming from the one and the same localization mechanism which forms the brane itself, and is thus generically unavoidable. Possible practical solutions are discussed, including in particular spontaneously broken supersymmetry, and quantum mechanically induced brane tension.  相似文献

Results of a study of temporal characteristics of the emission of gas-discharge plasma of atmospheric pressure in multicomponent mixtures (mercury dibromide and dichloride with helium and additions of molecular nitrogen and xenon) of working media of HgBr/HgCl excimer lamps are presented. Gas-discharge plasma was produced and components of the working mixture were excited by high-frequency barrier and surface discharges occurring simultaneously. The repetition rate of the pumping pulse and its duration are 1000 Hz and ~100 ns, respectively. It is found that the amplitude and the length of emission pulses and their trailing edge are modified in HgBr2: HgCl2: Xe: He and HgBr2: HgCl2: N2: He mixtures when xenon and molecular nitrogen are added, as compared to a HgBr2: HgCl2: He mixture. Regularities observed in temporal characteristics of gas-discharge plasma emission are discussed.  相似文献

Glycolic acid is a useful and important α-hydroxy acid that has broad applications. Herein, the homogeneous ruthenium catalyzed reforming of aqueous ethylene glycol to generate glycolic acid as well as pure hydrogen gas, without concomitant CO2 emission, is reported. This approach provides a clean and sustainable direction to glycolic acid and hydrogen, based on inexpensive, readily available, and renewable ethylene glycol using 0.5 mol % of catalyst. In-depth mechanistic experimental and computational studies highlight key aspects of the PNNH-ligand framework involved in this transformation.  相似文献

It is shown that photorefractive wave-mixing gives saturable gain, saturable absorption and Kerr-like nonlinear phase retardation. An analogy between photorefractive two-beam coupling and two-level atom system is then drawn. We investigate optical bistability in a ring cavity, utilizing these phenomena, and compare our results with classical absorptive and dispersive optical bistability.  相似文献

We report the synthesis of highly luminescent CdTe/ZnS and CdHgTe/ZnS core/shell semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs). A hybrid of two synthesis routes leads to novel nanocrystal compositions and small core/shell sizes (4-5 nm) that emit in the far-red and near-infrared regions. These particles exhibit higher resistance to oxidation and photobleaching, have high quantum yields, and could be used for biological labeling and imaging.  相似文献

We previously reported that when cultured goldfish cells are illuminated with fluorescent light, photorepair ability for both cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers and (6–4) photoproducts increased. In the present study, it was found that the duration of the induced photorepair ability for cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers was longer than that for (6–4) photoproducts, suggesting the presence of different photolyases for repair of these two major forms of DNA damage. A gel shift assay was then performed to show the presence of protein(s) binding to (6–4) photoproducts and its dissociation from (6–4) photoproducts under fluorescent light illumination. In addition, at 8 h after fluorescent light illumination of the cell, the binding of pro-tein(s) to (6–4) photoproducts increased. The restriction enzymes that have recognition sites containing TT or TC sequences failed to digest the UV-irradiated DNA pho-toreactivated by using Escherichia coli photolyase for cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers, indicating that restriction enzymes could not function because (6–4) photoproducts remained in recognition sites. But, when UV-irradiated DNA depleted of cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers was incubated with extract of cultured goldfish cells under fluorescent light illumination, it was digested with those restriction enzymes. These results suggested the presence of (6–4) photolyase in cultured goldfish cells as in Dro-sophila, Xenopus and Crotalus.  相似文献

A possibility of antimony oxide as a catalyst for the selective oxidation of methane with oxygen to formaldehyde was investigated. The activity measurement was carried out at an atmospheric pressure and at 873 K, where the homogeneous gas-phase reaction was negligible. Oxidized diamond (O-Dia)-supported antimony oxide catalyst produced 1.3 mmol h−1 g-cat−1 of formaldehyde with a formaldehyde selectivity of 23%. On the other hand, SiO2 supported antimony oxide catalyst exhibited negligible catalytic activity. XRD and UV–vis analyses revealed that -Sb2O4 was formed on the oxidized diamond while Sb6O13 was formed on SiO2. Selective oxidation of methane to formaldehyde seemed to proceed on -Sb2O4 with moderate activity and selectivity to formaldehyde, via a redox cycle of -Sb2O4 and Sb2O4−x. On the other hand, Sb6O13 on SiO2 was stable under the reaction conditions and the selective oxidation occurred only slightly.  相似文献

A model is introduced to investigate the transport properties of an inhomogeneously dense flexible chain particle. The specific model used is a sedimenting non-neutrally buoyant inhomogenously weighted flexible Brownian dumbbell, and it is shown that density inhomogeneity gives rise to a novel coupling effect between the "shape-fluctuation" and "size-fluctuation" dispersion mechanisms. The previously reported shape-fluctuation dispersion term stems from the dumbbell's nonspherical shape and the ensuing anisotropic mobility tensor, while the already investigated size fluctuation term is the result of the dependence of the overall dumbbell translational mobility on the separation distance between the constitutive spheres. Because the density of the constitutive spheres is unequal, the external force simultaneously reorients and deforms the flexible dumbbell, and it is this mutual dependence between dumbbell orientation and size that induces the coupling. Numerical results are presented for the case of a tethered dumbbell composed of two spheres, identical in size but differing in density. The "weak-field" limit is addressed, where the externally applied torque and particle deformation forces are dominated by the thermal fluctuations associated with rotational and deformation Brownian motion. This numerical solution, obtained by including a large number of higher order hydrodynamic interactions (120 terms), describes the Brownian particle's long-time transport without resorting to ad hoc approximations, such as preaveraging the hydrodynamic force or incorporating only first-order hydrodynamic interaction effects (such as employing the Burgers-Oseen tensor). Separate analytical solutions, based on these respective approximations, are also presented and it is concluded that in the limit of "long tethers," where the ratio of tether length to sphere size is greater than seven, no more than 15% error is introduced by neglecting higher-order hydrodynamic interactions. Similarly, the preaveraging approximation introduces no more than a few percent error in the limit of "almost-rigid" dumbbells, where the ratio of tether length to sphere size is less than three. For tethers of "intermediate" length, the full numerical solution must be employed.  相似文献
