We show that optical and electrical measurements on pentacene single crystals can be used to extract the density of states in the highest occupied molecular orbital-lowest unoccupied molecular orbital band gap. It is found that these highly purified crystals possess band tails broader than those typically observed in inorganic amorphous solids. Results on field-effect transistors fabricated from similar crystals imply that the gap state density is much larger within 5-10 nm of the gate dielectric. Thus, organic thin-film transistors for such applications as flexible displays might be significantly improved by reducing these defects.  相似文献

We describe a defect generation phenomenon that is new to organic semiconductors. A defect in pentacene single crystals can be created by bias-stress and persists at room temperature for an hour in the dark but only seconds with 420 nm illumination. The defect gives rise to a hole trap at Ev+0.38 eV and causes metastable transport effects at room temperature. Creation and decay rates of the hole trap have a 0.67 eV activation energy with a small (10(8) s(-1)) prefactor, suggesting that atomic motion plays a key role in the generation and quenching process.  相似文献

The anisotropy of the upper critical field of PbMo6S8, PbMo6Se8 and SnMo6Se8 has been measured. All three compounds show an anisotropy of about 20 %, with the maximum Hc2 value when H is perpendicular to the ternary axis. The effective mass model with the mass ratio ε2≈ 0.69 fits well our results.  相似文献

Optimal fractions of resolution V design matrices proposed by Rechtschaffner in 1967 are developed and applied as supersaturated designs in screening experiments. Rechtschaffner matrices allow evaluation of all main factors and two-factor interactions, which in many real-world studies are of practical significance. However, the number of experimental runs increases rapidly with the number of factors in the matrices, which are therefore impractical for more than 5–6 factors. On the contrary, saturated fractions based on Hadamard matrices, which are commonly applied in screening studies, cannot evaluate the interaction effects. Here, a procedure for selecting the optimum fractions of Rechtschaffner matrices is presented and provides supersaturated matrices that are well adapted to a variety of problems, thus allowing the development of screening studies with a relatively small number of experiments. The procedures developed to derive the size-reduced matrices and to evaluate the active factors are discussed and compared in terms of efficiency and reliability, by means of simulation studies and application to a real problem. These fractions are the first supersaturated design matrices capable of estimating interaction effects. Additionally, one important advantage of these supersaturated matrices is that they enable development of follow-up procedures in cases of inconclusive results, by enlarging the matrix and eventually resolving the full Rechtschaffner matrix of departure when it is necessary to evaluate the active factors and their interactions.  相似文献

An optimization procedure for the reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RPLC) assay of naphthodianthrones in St John’s wort extract from the European Pharmacopoeia project is described. The results obtained from two screening designs showed that light exposure, recommended in the monograph as sample pretreatment, does not permit one to obtain a reproducible quantification of the main ingredients. Improvement of the method robustness implies the need to overcome the problem of light exposure, to subsequently quantify protonaphthodianthrones and to perform the separation on octadecyl (ODS)-bonded phase at optimized flow rate. The method robustness was checked by using a bifurcation sequential approach investigating the influence of 13 factors. The eluent recommended in the monograph is a ternary mixture of methanol, phosphate buffer and ethyl acetate. For the sake of simplicity, the phosphate buffer was substituted by an acetate buffer. The best composition of the ternary mixture was determined by a combined design including three mixture variables and the temperature as an independent variable. Chromatographic parameters were modelled in terms of analysis time, resolution and asymmetry. Desirability functions permit one to cope with these parameters and to determine the best compromise. The naphthodianthrones were separated on a conventional endcapped octadecyl silica gel column eluted by a ternary mobile phase at 40 °C in 10 min. A library of phosphoramidite monomers containing a main-chain cleavable alkoxyamine and a side-chain substituent of variable molar mass (i.e. mass tag) was prepared in this work. These monomers can be used in automated solid-phase phosphoramidite chemistry and therefore incorporated periodically as spacers inside digitally-encoded poly(phosphodiester) chains. Consequently, the formed polymers contain tagged cleavable sites that guide their fragmentation in mass spectrometry sequencing and enhance their digital readability. The spacers were all prepared via a seven steps synthetic procedure. They were afterwards tested for the synthesis and sequencing of model digital polymers. Uniform digitally-encoded polymers were obtained as major species in all cases, even though some minor defects were sometimes detected. Furthermore, the polymers were decoded in pseudo-MS3 conditions, thus confirming the reliability and versatility of the spacers library.  相似文献
