In this work, we propose a novel strategy for the fabrication of flexible thermoplastic microdevices entirely based on lamination processes. The same low-cost laminator apparatus can be used from master fabrication to microchannel sealing. This process is appropriate for rapid prototyping at laboratory scale, but it can also be easily upscaled to industrial manufacturing. For demonstration, we used here Cycloolefin Copolymer (COC), a thermoplastic polymer that is extensively used for microfluidic applications. COC is a thermoplastic polymer with good chemical resistance to common chemicals used in microfluidics such as acids, bases and most polar solvents. Its optical quality and mechanical resistance make this material suitable for a large range of applications in chemistry or biology. As an example, the electrokinetic separation of pollutants is proposed in the present study.  相似文献

A flexible hybrid polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)-polycarbonate (PC) microfluidic chip with integrated screen printed electrodes (SPE) was fabricated and applied for electrochemical quantum dots (QDs) detection. The developed device combines the advantages of flexible microfluidic chips, such as their low cost, the possibility to be disposable and amenable to mass production, with the advantages of electrochemistry for its facility of integration and the possibility to miniaturize the analytical device. Due to the interest in biosensing applications in general and particularly the great demand for labelling alternatives in affinity biosensors, the electrochemistry of cadmium sulfide quantum dots (CdS QDs) is evaluated. Square wave anodic stripping voltammetry (SWASV) is the technique used due to its sensitivity and low detection limits that can be achieved. The electrochemical as well as the microfluidic parameters of the developed system are optimized. The detection of CdS QDs in the range between 50 to 8000 ng mL(-1) with a sensitivity of 0.0009 μA/(ng mL(-1)) has been achieved. In addition to the single in-chip flow through measurements, the design of a recirculation system with the aim of achieving lower detection limits using reduced volumes (25 μL) of sample was proposed as a proof-of-concept.  相似文献

The synthesis of well-defined soluble polystyrene supports bearing tin hydride functionalities has been achieved in two steps. First, a precursor was prepared by copolymerization of styrene and acetoxystyrene using atom transfer radical polymerization. Prior any modification, this precursor was fully characterized to check its structure. Then in a second part, tin hydride functions were introduced by a four step process. The chemical modification was monitored by IR and 1H NMR spectroscopies. The soluble support was also characterized by triple detection size exclusion chromatography at each step. Two families of supports were synthesized by varying the molecular weight and the degree of functionalization. The effectiveness of these tin hydride supports was tested through the reduction of 6-bromohexene and compared with the small counterpart Bu3SnH. Measurements of rate constant for hydrogen transfer were also reported.  相似文献

The amount of internal energy imparted to the ions prior to the ion mobility cell influences the ion structure and thus the collision cross section. Non-covalent complexes with few internal degrees of freedom and/or high charge densities are particularly sensitive to collisional activation. Here, we investigated the effects of virtually all tuning parameters of the Agilent 6560 IM-Q-TOF on the arrival time distributions of ubiquitin7+ and found conditions in which the native state prevails. We discuss the effects of solvent evaporation conditions in the source, of the entire pre-IM DC voltage gradient, of the funnel RF amplitudes. We also report on ubiquitin7+ conformations in different solvents, including native supercharging conditions. Collision-induced unfolding (CIU) can be conveniently provoked either behind the source capillary or in the trapping funnel. The softness of the instrumental conditions behind the mobility cell was further optimized with the DNA G-quadruplex [(dG4T4G4)2·(NH4+)3-8H]5?, for which ion activation results in ammonia loss. To reduce the ion internal energy and obtain the intact 3-NH4+ complex, we reduce the post-IM voltage gradient, but this results in a lower IM resolving power due to increased diffusion behind the drift tube. The article describes the various trade-offs between ion activation, ion transmission, and ion mobility performance for native MS of very fragile structures.

Immobilization of indene ligands onto two types of hydrogen-terminated surfaces, oxide-free Si [H/Si(111)] and oxidized Si [H/SiO2/Si], has been investigated by infrared absorption spectroscopy. The activity of a common catalyst (H2PtCl6) is shown to depend critically on the nature of the solvent. For instance, 2-propanol preferentially reacts with the surface, preventing any ligand attachment. Chlorobenzene is more stable, allowing some ligand attachment, but the H2PtCl6 catalyst also fosters silicon oxidation. In contrast, UV irradiation on oxide-free surfaces promotes a cleaner and more efficient reaction, leading to ligand attachment without substrate oxidation. The complete inactivity of H-terminated surfaces with a thin oxide layer [H/SiO2/Si] suggests that the UV-induced immobilization is mediated solely by the excitation of electron-hole pairs (excitons) in the substrate and is not the result of direct Si-H bond breaking.  相似文献

The present account is concerned with the measurement of local reactant concentrations by observing specific fluorescent probes in fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS). The Theoretical Analysis section revisits the photophysical, thermodynamic, and kinetic information that is contained in the corresponding FCS correlation curves. In particular, we examine the conditions under which FCS is revealed as a superior tool to measure concentrations of reactive species. Careful molecular engineering of the specific fluorescent probes that simultaneously integrates photophysical, thermodynamic, and kinetic constraints will be required to benefit most from FCS. We illustrate the FCS titration approach with a series of fluorescent probes that we tailored to measure pH at around 4-6 by FCS after two-photon excitation. We show that an optimal design allows one to access pH without any preliminary calibrations such as the determination of the protonation constant or the photophysical properties of the fluorescent probe.  相似文献

Carbonates are the predominating species in natural chemical processes. Thus, understanding the reactions that occur on their surfaces is very important. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of carbonates on the surface charge of a natural soil sample. First, surface properties of a synthesized calcite were determined using a simplified surface speciation model correlated to potentiometric titrations, and then intrinsic acidity constants and pH(znpc) (pH where protonic surface charge is equal to 0) were studied for solids with different percentages of calcite. A strong influence on surface properties of the solids was evidenced even for small additional quantities of calcite.  相似文献
