Reaction of pentafluorobenzoylpyruvic acid with amines

Reactions of pentafluorobenzoylpyruvic acid with amines afford the respective enamines. The intramolecular cyclization of the latter results inN-substituted 4-quinolone-2-carboxylic acids. Ammonia and triethylamine favor the cyclization of pentafluorobenzoylpyruvic acid to 2-carboxychromone.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Hydrophobicity and thermal stability of fluorinated pentaerythritol esters

Wetting angles and limits of thermal stability of esters derived from pentaerythritol and perfluoro-, ω-chloropolyfluoro-, and perfluoropolyethercarboxylic acids were studied.     

Synthesis of substituted pyrido[1,2-<Emphasis Type="Italic">a</Emphasis>]pyrimidines from 2-arylmethylidene-3-fluoroalkyl-3-oxopropionates

Cyclocondensation of 2-arylmethylidene-3-fluoroalkyl-oxopropionates with 2-amino-pyridine occurs at both the polyfluoroacylvinyl and alkoxycarbonylvinyl fragments to give alkyl 4-aryl-2-polyfluoroalkyl-4H-pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidine-3-carboxylates and 4-aryl-2-hydroxy-3-polyfluoroacyl-4H-pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidines, respectively. When treated with copper(II) acetate, the pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidines yield metal complexes. Published in Russian in Izvestiya Akademii Nauk. The transformations of fluoroalkyl-containing 2-arylhydrazono-1,3-dicarbonyl compounds with methylamine

Fluoroalkylated 1,2,3-triketone 2-arylhydrazones and 2-arylhydrazono-3-oxo esters react variously with methylamine depending on the structure of the fluorinated substituent. 2-Arylhydrazono-1,3-dicarbonyl compounds having “short” fluoroalkyl substituents condense with methylamine at the carbonyl group attached to the non-fluorinated substituent whereas ones containing a lengthy polyfluoroalkyl substituent undergo haloformic cleavage as a result of the amine addition at the carbonyl group bearing such a substituent. The resulting 2-arylazo-3-(N-methyl)amino-1-polyfluoroket-2-en-1-ones and 1-(N-methyl)amino-2-arylhydrazono-3-fluoroalkyl-3-oxopropanamides have complexing properties, and they can bind to nickel(II) and copper(II) ions. Nickel chelates can be obtained by a three-component condensation of 2-arylhydrazono-1,3-dicarbonyl compounds and methylamine in the presence of nickel(II) cations.     

From oxides of internal perfluoroolefins to fluorocontaining camphor thiazolinylhydrazones

The reaction of oxides of internal trans- and cis-perfluoroolefins with (1S, 4S)- or racemic camphor thiosemicarbazone leads to the formation of trans- and cis-isomers of (1S, 4S)- or racemic camphor 5′-fluoro-4′-hydroxy-4′,5′-di(perfluoroalkyl)-1′,3′-thiazolinyl-2′-hydrazones, respectively. Unsymmetrical dodecafluoro-2,3-epoxyhexane yields a mixture of regioisomeric hydrazones. The molecular structure of the trans-isomer of (1S, 4S)-camphor 5′-fluoro-4′-hydroxy-4′,5′-bis(trifluoromethyl)-1′,3′-thiazolinyl-2′-hydrazone has been established by X-ray crystallography. The quite rare example of cocrystallization of two diastereomers of the latter in homochiral crystal (sp. group P2₁) has been revealed.     

Reactions of 5,6,7,8-tetrafluoro-4-hydroxycoumarin derivatives with benzylamine and aniline

5,6,7,8-Tetrafluoro-4-hydroxycoumarin reacted with benzylamine under mild conditions to give a stable salt, while its refluxing with aniline or benzylamine in xylene afforded 5,6,7,8-tetrafluoro-4-phenyl(benzyl)aminocoumarins. Reactions of 3-acetyl(acetimidoyl)-5,6,7,8-tetrafluoro-4-hydroxycoumarins with benzylamine followed different pathways, depending on the solvent. Condensation at the acyl substituent can be accompanied by replacement of the F atom in position 7. 3-Acetylcoumarin formed a salt, while 3-acetimidoylcoumarin yielded a 7-monosubstituted product. 3-Acetyl(acetimidoyl)-5,6,7,8-tetrafluoro-4-hydroxycoumarins reacted with aniline to give only 5,6,7,8-tetrafluoro-4-hydroxy-3-(N-phenylacetimidoyl)coumarin. Reactions of 5,6,7,8-Tetrafluoro-4-hydroxy-2H-chromen-2-ones with methylamine

5,6,7,8-Tetrafluoro-4-hydroxy-2H-chromen-2-one reacts with methylamine to give methylammonium 5,6,7,8-tetrafluoro-2-oxo-2H-chromen-4-olate, regardless of the solvent. The reaction of 3-acetyl-5,6,7,8-tetrafluoro-4-hydroxy-2H-chromen-2-one with the same amine in ethanol or acetonitrile leads to the formation of methylammonium 3-acetyl-5,6,7,8-tetrafluoro-2-oxo-2H-chromen-4-olate, while in dimethyl sulfoxide 5,6,8-trifluoro-7-methylamino-3-(1-methylaminoethylidene)-3,4-dihydro-2H-chromene-2,4-dione is formed. The latter is also formed in the reaction of 5,6,7,8-tetrafluoro-4-hydroxy-3-(1-iminoethyl)-2H-chromen-2-one with methylamine in DMSO, whereas in ethanol and acetonitrile 5,6,7,8-tetrafluoro-3-(1-methylaminoethylidene)-3,4-dihydro-2H-chromene-2,4-dione is obtained. 5,6,7,8-Tetrafluoro-3-(1-methylaminoethylidene)-3,4-dihydro-2H-chromene-2,4-dione reacts with methylamine, yielding 7-mono-or 5,7-bis(methylamino)-substituted derivatives.     

Reaction of 2-amino-4-imino-2-perfluoropentene with ethylenediamine and diethylenetriamine

The transamination of 2-amino-4-imino-2-perfluoropentene with ethylenediamine gives the corresponding 6-fluoro-5,7-bis(trifluoromethyl)-2,3-dihydro-1H-1,4-diazepine. The transamination of 2-amino-4-imino-2-perfluoropentene by diethylenetriamine is accompanied by intramolecular nucleophilic substitution of the α-fluorine atom to form 1,9-bis(trifluoromethyl)-3,4,6,7-tetrahydro-2H-pyrazino[1,2-a]pyrazine whose structure was established by an X-ray structural investigation. Synthesis of 7-Alkyl(aryl)-6-alkoxycarbonyl-5-fluoroalkyl-1,2,4-tri(tetr)azolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines

Fluorinated 3-oxo esters react with aldehydes and 3-amino-1,2,4-triazoles and 5-aminotetrazoles to give, respectively, 7-alkyl(aryl)-6-alkoxycarbonyl-5-fluoroalkyl-1,2,4-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines and -tetra-zolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines. The same heterocyclic products can be obtained by reaction of 2-benzylidene-2-fluoroacyl esters with the corresponding aminoazoles.     

Synthesis of Polyfluorinated Ethers

Procedures for preparing polyfluorinated ethers H(CF₂CF₂) _n CH₂OR by alkylation of the corresponding telomeric alcohols H(CF₂CF₂) _n CH₂OH (n = 1–3) with alkyl halides and alkyl tosylates were examined.
