A new and efficient metal-free approach toward the synthesis of phenols via an aerobic hydroxylation of arylboronic acids by using a novel quaternary ammonium hydroxide g-C3N4 catalyst has been described. The functionalized quaternary ammonium hydroxide (g-C3N4-OH) has been prepared from graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) scaffold by converting the residual –NH2 and –NH groups to quaternary methyl ammonium iodide by performing a methylation reaction with methyl iodide followed by ion-exchange with 0.1 N KOH or anion exchange resin Amberlyst A26 (OH- form) by post-synthetic modification. The resultant g-C3N4-OH was characterized by XRD, FTIR, field-emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM), N2 adsorption/desorption isotherms, and acid–base titration. Tested as solid-base catalysts, the g-C3N4-OH showed excellent catalytic activity in the aerobic hydroxylation reaction by converting a variety of arylboronic acids to the corresponding phenols in high yields. More importantly, the g-C3N4-OH solid-base has been successfully reused four times with the minor loss of initial catalytic activity (10.5%).  相似文献

Core-shell-corona (CSC) micelles of asymmetric triblock copolymer, poly(styrene-b-2-vinylpyridine-b-ethylene oxide) (PS-PVP-PEO), containing polystyrene homopolymer (homo-PS) in the core were successfully prepared in aqueous media. The influence of homo-PS contents over the formation of the micelles was investigated thoroughly by various techniques such as dynamic light scattering (DLS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and fluorescence spectroscopy. It was found that the size of the PS core of the micelle was increased by the addition of homo-PS as observed by DLS and TEM techniques. The SEM and TEM measurements confirm the spherical morphology of the micelles and enlargement of PS core over the addition of homo-PS. The increase in the PS core volume of the PS-PVP-PEO micelles is attributed to the insertion of homo-PS in the PS core. The micelles have also been demonstrated as facile soft templates for synthesis of hollow silica nanospheres. The average diameter of the spherical hollow particles could be tuned between 30.6 and 38.8 nm with cavity sizes ranging from 20.7 to 28.5 nm using tetramethoxysilane as silica precursors under mild acidic conditions. The facile synthesis of hollow silica using the CSC micelles with different homo-PS contents indicates that the hollow void size can be controlled within a range of several nanometers.  相似文献

Titania-lanthanum phosphate nanocomposites with multifunctional properties have been synthesized by aqueous sol-gel method. The precursor sols with varying TiO2:LaPO4 ratios were applied as thin coating on glass substrates in order to be transparent, hydrophobic, photocatalytically active coatings. The phase compositions of the composite powders were identified by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM). The anatase phase of TiO2 in TiO2-LaPO4 composite precursors was found to be stable even on annealing at 800 °C. The glass substrates, coated with TL1 (TiO2-LaPO4 composition with 1 mol% LaPO4) and TL50 (composite precursor containing TiO2 and LaPO4 with molar ratio 1:1) sols and annealed at 400 °C, produced contact angles of 74° and 92°, respectively, though it is only 62° for pure TiO2 coating. The glass substrates, coated with TL50 sol, produced surfaces with relatively high roughness and uneven morphology. The TL1 material, annealed at 800 °C, has shown the highest UV photoactivity with an apparent rate constant, kapp=24×10−3 min−1, which is over five times higher than that observed with standard Hombikat UV 100 (kapp=4×10−3 min−1). The photoactivity combined with a moderate contact angle (85.3°) shows that this material has a promise as an efficient self-cleaning precursor.  相似文献

Hybrid silica-based porous aerogels containing propylsulfonic acid and methyl functionalities were prepared by co-condensation route from the corresponding mercaptopropyltriethoxysilane and methyltriethoxysilane precursors using aqueous ammonia as hydrolyzing agent in the absence of any organic templates. The hybrid aerogel was dried under supercritical CO2 and characterized by SEM, TEM, 13C CP-MAS NMR, 29Si MAS NMR, TG/DTA, and nitrogen adsorption/desorption analyses. The hybrid-silica aerogel containing propylsulfonic acid serves as an efficient heterogeneous acid catalyst in transesterification of fatty acid esters with methanol in a batch reactor.  相似文献

The potential genotoxic effects of methanolic extracts of Euphorbia hirta which is commonly used in traditional medicine to treat a variety of diseased conditions including asthma, coughs, diarrhea and dysentery was investigated using Allium cepa assay. The extracts of 125, 250, 500 and 1,000 μg/mL were tested on root meristems of A. cepa. Ethylmethanesulfonate was used as positive control and distilled water was used as negative control. The result showed that mitotic index decreased as the concentrations of E. hirta extract increased. A dose-dependent increase of chromosome aberrations was also observed. Abnormalities scored were stickiness, c-mitosis, bridges and vagrant chromosomes. Micronucleated cells were also observed at interphase. Result of this study confirmed that the methanol extracts of E. hirta exerted significant genotoxic and mitodepressive effects at 1,000 μg/mL.  相似文献

An efficient and simple protocol for synthesis of novel La(2)O(3) hollow nanospheres of size about 30 ± 2 nm using polymeric micelles is reported. The La(2)O(3) hollow nanospheres exhibit high charge capacity and cycling performance in lithium-ion rechargeable batteries (LIBs), which was scrutinized for the first time among the rare-earth oxides.  相似文献

The urgent need to treat multi-drug resistant pathogenic microorganisms in chronically infected patients has given rise to the development of new antimicrobials from natural resources. We have tested Elaeis guineensis Jacq (Arecaceae) methanol extract against a variety of bacterial, fungal and yeast strains associated with infections. Our studies have demonstrated that E. guineensis exhibits excellent antimicrobial activity in vitro and in vivo against the bacterial and fungal strains tested. A marked inhibitory effect of the E. guineensis extracts was observed against C. albicans whereby E. guineensis extract at ?, 1, or 2 times the MIC significantly inhibited C. albicans growth with a noticeable drop in optical density (OD) of the bacterial culture. This finding confirmed the anticandidal activity of the extract on C. albicans. Imaging using scanning (SEM) and transmission (TEM) electron microscopy was done to determine the major alterations in the microstructure of the extract-treated C. albicans. The main abnormalities noted via SEM and TEM studies were the alteration in morphology of the yeast cells. In vivo antimicrobial activity was studies in mice that had been inoculated with C. albicans and exhibited good anticandidal activity. The authors conclude that the extract may be used as a candidate for the development of anticandidal agent.  相似文献
