The unsteady laminar flow of an electrically conducting viscous fluid between parallel insulating plates subject to a transverse magnetic field is considered. The plates are fixed and flow is due to a constant pressure gradient. The induced field is taken into account. The fluid is incompressible and of couple stress type. The defining equations are coupled and numerical solutions for different values of couple stress parameter are obtained. The velocity and induced magnetic field profiles are sketched as functions of time, Hartmann number, and magnetic Prandtl number. The velocity decreases with increase in couple stress parameter.  相似文献

The true potential energy curves for some electronic states of CuF, CuO, CuSe and CuTe molecules have been constructed by the method of Lakshman and Rao (RKR method as modified by Lakshman and Rao). The ground-state dissociation energies evaluated by the method of curve fitting using the H-H function agree well with the values reported earlier. Ther-centroids and Franck-Condon factors for various band systems of the above diatomic molecules have been computed.  相似文献

The class of thermotropic ionic liquid crystals (LCs) of the metal alkanoates possesses a number of unique properties, such as intrinsic ionic conductivity, high dissolving ability and ability to form time-stable mesomorphic glasses. These ionic LCs can be used as nanoreactors for the synthesis and stabilisation of different types of nanoparticles (NPs). Thus, some semiconductors, metals and core/shell NPs were chemically synthesised in the thermotropic ionic liquid crystalline phase (smectic A) of the cadmium octanoate (CdC8) and of the cobalt octanoate (CoC8). By applying the scanning electron microscopy, the cadmium and cobalt octanoate composites containing CdS, Au, Ag and core/shell Au/CdS NPs have been studied. NPs’ sizes and dispersion distribution of the NPs’ size in the nanocomposites have been obtained.  相似文献

A series of 1‐substituted 4,5‐diformyl‐[1,2,3]triazole derivatives were prepared by 1,3‐dipolar cyclo‐addition of aryl azides with acetylene dicarboxaldehyde mono‐diethylacetal. The triazoles were readily converted into 1‐substituted [1,2,3]triazolo[4,5‐d]pyridazines in good yields. The 1‐(2‐nitrophenyl)‐[1,2,3]triazolo[4,5‐d]pyridazine was found to be a useful intermediate for the generation of the novel 5H‐benzo[1,2,3]triazolo[1′,2′:1,2]triazolo[4,5‐d]pyridazin‐6‐ium inner salt ring system.  相似文献

A rapid method is described for the determination of yttrium, scandium, and other rare earth elements (REEs) in uranium-rich geological samples (containing more than 0.1% U) and in pitch blende type of samples by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) after separation of uranium by selective precipitation of the analytes as hydroxides using H(2)O(2)/NaOH in the presence of iron as carrier. Uranium goes into solution as soluble peruranate complex. The precipitated rare earth hydroxides (including Y and Sc) are filtered and dissolved in hydrochloric acid prior to their aspiration into plasma for their individual estimation after selecting interference free REE emission lines. The method has also been applied to some international reference standards like SY-2 and SY-3 (by doping a known amount of uranium) along with one in-house pitch blende sample and the REE values were found to be in agreement with the most usable values, offering an R.S.D. of 1-8.8% for all the REEs', Y and Sc. The method compared well, with the well- established cation exchange separation procedure.  相似文献

Summary The inertia effects in externally pressurized and squeeze film bearings with lubricants obeying a power law are considered. It is found that the inertia forces decrease the load capacity of the externally pressurized bearing with a given flow rate and the inertia effect increases with the flow behaviour index. At a given feeding pressure, on the other hand, the inertia increases or decreases the load capacity when the flow behaviour index is smaller than or greater than 3, respectively. A theoretical investigation of the effects of a transverse magnetic field on the combined problem of viscous lifting and drainage of a conducting fluid on a plate is presented. The effects of inertia and transverse magnetic field on the liquid film thickness is studied for two cases namely a plate withdrawn with a constant velocity and one withdrawn with a constant acceleration. The expressions for the flow rate and the free surface profiles are obtained for the above two cases. It is found that the free surface profiles are convex in nature as in the non-magnetic case thus showing that the inertia does not effect the general pattern of flow, and the effect of the magnetic field is to retard both the lifting and drainage of the fluid.  相似文献

The specific retention volumes, , for adsorption of 21 solute probes on the solid surface of cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB) were determined in the temperature range 343.15 to 403.15 K by inverse gas chromatography (IGC). The weight fraction activity coefficients, , and Flory–Huggins interaction parameters, , were evaluated using . Both and values decreased with increase of temperature in all the solutes. Further, the values increased with increase of chain length in n-alkanes, but in the case of alcohols the trend was reversed. values were less than 0.5 in polar solutes and greater than 0.5 in 1-alkanes and alcohols. The Hansen solubility parameters (HSP) were calculated by relating with the cohesive energy of adsorption of the solutes on the surface of CAB. The adsorption model proposed by Snyder and Karger was used to determine the HSP for the CAB. The dispersive, , polar, , and hydrogen bonding components of HSP decreased with increase of temperature and the relative error associated with these parameters increased with increase of temperature. The characterization of the solid surface of CAB in terms of the three solubility parameter components was analyzed and is discussed.  相似文献

In binary mixtures of cholesteryl chloride and cholesteryl alkanoates, the threshold field for the cholesteric to nematic transformation depends on the length of the alkanoate ester chain. The threshold field also depends on the pitch, the dielectric anisotropy and the twist elastic constant of the mixtures. This paper describes the experiments performed to establish the role of these three parameters in the observed variation of threshold field with alkanoate ester chain length in such binary mixtures.

The temperature dependence of threshold field, dielectric anisotropy and pitch has been studied. From these experiments the relative response of the various mixtures to applied electric fields has been established. In most of the mixtures, temperature ranges over which pretransitional effects do not predominate, have been identified. Twist elastic constants of the mixtures in these temperature ranges have been calculated. It has been shown that both the intrinsic response of the mixtures to applied electric fields, and the twist elastic constants do not show a regular variation with chain length of the alkanoate ester tail. Some observations suggest that mixtures containing non-smectogenic alkanoates show different temperature dependence of threshold field as compared to those containing smectogenic alkanoates.  相似文献

Summary A theoretical investigation of inertia effects in a squeeze film bearing with an electrically conducting lubricant in the presence of a uniform transverse magnetic field is presented. The two cases of infinitely long rectangular plates and circular plates as bearing surfaces are considered. It is shown that the load supporting capacity of the bearing increases and the squeeze decreases if the lubricant inertia effects are taken into account. However, the inertia effect becomes smaller when the strength of the magnetic field increases.  相似文献
