To study the effect of selection with respect to mutation and mating in genetic algorithms, we consider two simplified examples in the infinite population limit. Both algorithms are modeled as measure valued dynamical systems and are designed to maximize a linear fitness on the half line. Thus, they both trivially converge to infinity. We compute the rate of their growth and we show that, in both cases, selection is able to overcome a tendency to converge to zero. The first model is a mutation‐selection algorithm on the integer half line, which generates mutations along a simple random walk. We prove that the system goes to infinity at a positive speed, even in cases where the random walk itself is ergodic. This holds in several strong senses, since we show a.s. convergence, Lp convergence, convergence in distribution, and a large deviations principle for the sequence of measures. For the second model, we introduce a new class of matings, based upon Mandelbrot martingales. The mean fitness of the associated mating‐selection algorithms on the real half line grows exponentially fast, even in cases where the Mandelbrot martingale itself converges to zero. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. This article presents a method to compute the response of a viscoelastic layered half-space to a moving load when interlayer slip is considered. The Navier equations of equilibrium are solved for each layer in the frequency domain. The solution in the spatial coordinate system is subsequently obtained by means of Fast Fourier Transform and quadrature rules applied to integrable singularities. Following the global solution technique, the developed method compiles all the interface and the boundary conditions within a global matrix and it solves a unique linear system per couple of wave numbers. This method proves to be effective and is validated in an elastic case by comparison with the ALIZE-LCPC software that implements the Burmister axisymmetric solution. The influence of the interface sliding condition on the response of a layered viscoelastic medium is studied through an application to pavement structures. In this application, the effect of the load speed on vertical and horizontal profiles of the longitudinal strain and the normal stress is analyzed. It is shown, inter alia, that the maximum extension in the medium is not systematically observed at the location of an interface and that, as expected, low speeds and interlayer slip are more damaging to the structure when either a strain or a stress criterion is considered.  相似文献

5-Geranoxypsoralen, commonly called bergamottin, a major furocoumarin contained in bergamot oil, is reported in vitro as a highly photoreactive psoralen. In ethanol, it exhibits quite a high triplet state quantum yield (approximately 0.37). The triplet state is involved in subsequent photochemistry which depends on the initial concentration and on the presence of oxygen. In contrast to most psoralens, absorption and fluorescence data suggest that 5-geranoxypsoralen does not interact with DNA in the dark. No UVA-induced interstrand cross-links in DNA were shown.  相似文献

A selection of kernel functions is given to be used in a new integral constitutive equation proposed by Piau whereby the deviatoric stress is calculated from the integral of the history of the past intrinsic rate of rotation and rate of deformation tensors through a representation theorem. Piau has demonstrated the objectivity of a frame moving with a given particle whose axis are directed along the eigenvectors of the rate of deformation tensor. The use of such a framework provides a new approach in the attempt to reduce the computational difficulties associated with conventional constitutive equations written in co-deformational or co-rotational reference frames.The shear and primary normal-stress material functions and the extensional (elongational) stress growth function are defined for the proposed integral constitutive equation. These material functions are used to calculate the kernel functions using steady state, stress relaxation and stress growth data of Attané in simple shear flow for monodisperse polystyrene solutions. The shear and extensional stress growth data of Meissner for a polyethylene melt are also used to show the flexibility of the rheological model.The material functions are first written in terms of five monotonically decreasing functions of the time lag between the past and the present time. Then kernel functions are chosen such that when substituted in the new integral constitutive equation they yield the functions used to describe the data. A further condition imposed on the normalized kernel functions is that they be decreasing functions of time lag.  相似文献

Dual-detector differential non-destructive Fourier transform detection in a quadrupole ion trap is shown to improve signal intensity and reduce noise compared with spectra recorded using a single detector. A larger area detector in each end-cap electrode is machined to fit its hyperbolic shape and so minimize field imperfections on the z-axis. Argon, acetophenone and bromobenzene spectra were recorded to allow a comparison between single- and dual-detector (differential) modes of detection and to demonstrate the improvement achieved with differential detection. The structure and orientation dynamics of sepiolite clay fibers about 1,000 nm long and 10 nm thick, suspended in an aqueous poly(ehtylene oxide) matrix of 105 g/mol molecular mass, have been studied under control extensional and shear flow. A new extensional flow cell developed at the “Laboratoire de Rhéologie” and the combined rheology and small angle X-ray scattering (Rheo-SAXS) setup available at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility have allowed access to in situ and time-resolved fiber orientations and structure properties in the volume of suspensions under flow. In the volume fractions and shear rate domains for which the suspensions exhibit shear-thinning properties, two regimes of orientation separated by a critical strain rate have been identified under extensional flow.  相似文献

A simple closed-form causal solution is derived for electromagnetic waves of arbitrary frequency in polycrystalline media by invoking a Rokhlin-type relation for the effective attenuation function and the Kramers-Kronig relations for the effective phase velocity. This solution is used to sort out the acceptable, and, for some, until now unrevealed, complex roots of the dispersion relation arising in the basically more rigorous theory of Bussemer, Hehl, Kassam and Kaganov (1991). Modifications to the Bussemer et al theory are proposed which incorporate the causality of the coherent wave.  相似文献
