We study quantum coherence in a semiconductor charge qubit formed from a GaAs double quantum dot containing a single electron. Voltage pulses are applied to depletion gates to drive qubit rotations and noninvasive state readout is achieved using a quantum point contact charge detector. We measure a maximum coherence time of ~7 ns at the charge degeneracy point, where the qubit level splitting is first-order insensitive to gate voltage fluctuations. We compare measurements of the coherence time as a function of detuning with numerical simulations and predictions from a 1/f noise model.  相似文献

In this paper a new approach for simultaneous 2D velocity and temperature measurements using phosphoric particles is presented. The phosphoric particles respond to the temperature changes in the flow while acting as tracers for velocity mapping. The temperature sensitive particles were seeded into a heated flow and were excited by a pulsed UV laser. The subsequent red shifted emission was detected and analyzed to infer temperature using calibration procedures for lifetime and emission spectra against temperature. The diameter of the temperature sensitive particles, usually in the range of 1–10 μm, makes them useful for velocity measurements using particle image velocimetry (PIV). We establish a functional calculus, with nice properties, for one and several continuous operators on some non-normable locally convex spaces, more specifically, for operators on the space of entire functions and on other power series spaces. In particular we obtain spectral mapping theorems. The calculus rests on Schauder decompositions for the spaces under consideration, which are of independent interest.  相似文献

Reversed phase continuous full filling capillary electrochromatography with electrospray ionisation mass spectrometric detection was performed with highly sulphated poly[styrene-co-(lauryl methacrylate)-co-(divinylbenzene)] nanoparticles. The nanoparticles that contained a hydrophobic core and a hydrophilic surface were prepared in a one step synthesis using soap free emulsion polymerisation. By changing the concentration of monomers, the polymerisation temperature, and the polarity of the dispersive phase, the size of the nanoparticles could be controlled. With the optimised conditions, nanoparticles with an average size of 157 nm were obtained. These nanoparticles were dispersed in the background electrolyte and used for reversed phase continuous full filling. An orthogonal electrospray ionisation interface was used to separate the eluting nanoparticles from the eluting analytes prior to mass spectrometry detection. Compared to previous studies on reversed phase continuous full filling, the retention, the separation efficiency, and the resolution of a homologous series of dialkyl phthalates were greatly improved.  相似文献

Continuous full filling capillary electrochromatography with nanoparticles as pseudostationary phase interfaced with electrospray ionisation mass spectrometric detection was used for reversed phase separations with very high separation efficiency. Several batches of nanoparticles were synthesised and their electrochromatographic performance were evaluated. Different parameters, such as repeatability, reproducibility, limit of detection, and peak asymmetry, were investigated yielding excellent results. The stability of the system over wide pH ranges and over time was found to be excellent. Very high separation efficiencies with over 1.1 million theoretical plates per metre were obtained. The limit of detection for the investigated dialkyl phthalates was approximately 1.0 micromol L(-1), corresponding to 3-5 fmol injected. After preparation, nanoparticle suspensions could be used without further treatment for at least an entire working day with maintained chromatographic qualities.  相似文献

Changes in the specific diet of earthworms with time in relation to landuse changes and two different climates were studied by analysing (13)C and (15)N natural abundance in soils and animals. Soil samples from three depths (0-10, 10-20 and 20-30 cm) and earthworms were collected from two sites: Santiago (Northwest Spain) and North Wyke (Southwest England) both consisting of replicated long-term grasslands and recently converted to maize plots. Earthworms were hand-sorted in the field at the peak of the maize growth and after harvesting at both sites. In the Spanish plots, nine and eight earthworm species, all belonging to the three ecological categories (epigeic, anecic and endogeic), were found under maize and permanent pasture, whereas at the English site five and seven different species were, respectively, identified. At both sites (13)C isotopic values of the earthworm tissues reflected changes in diet from C(3) to C(4) with epigeic and epi/anecic worms in the maize plots showing one delta unit difference in relation to the ones found in the grassland plots. Anecic worms seemed to be less responsive to landuse changes. The higher (13)C values of the Spanish soils were also reflected in the earthworm tissues when compared with the English samples. (15)N values showed no clear relationship with the cropping treatments but were clearly related to the ecological grouping, with endogeic worms reaching the highest values whereas for the epigeic and epi/anecic species the lowest values were obtained. This finding was also previously recorded by other authors1 and suggests that, in the future, stable isotope techniques could also be a useful tool in taxonomic studies. A suite of keV polyatomic or 'cluster' projectiles was used to bombard unoxidized and oxidized self-assembled monolayer surfaces. Negative secondary ion yields, collected at the limit of single ion impacts, were measured and compared for both molecular and fragment ions. In contrast to targets that are orders of magnitude thicker than the penetration range of the primary ions, secondary ion yields from polyatomic projectile impacts on self-assembled monolayers show little to no enhancement when compared with monatomic projectiles at the same velocity. This unusual trend is most likely due to the structural arrangement and bonding characteristics of the monolayer molecules with the Au(111). Copyright 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The NMR satellite frequencies were measured as a function of temperature in the normal high-temperature phase for 87Rb in Rb2ZnBr4 and Rb2ZnCl4 and for 35Cl in betaine calciumchloride dihydrate. Approaching the respective normal-incommensurate phase transition an anomalous shift of the NMR frequency is observed for the first two cases. This effect is ascribed to the increasing order parameter fluctuations. The experimental data are compared to calculations which relate the observed behaviour of the NMR frequencies to the non-classical critical behaviour of the substances under investigation.
