Although the influence of structurally modified sterols on artificial membranes has been intensively investigated, studies on the properties of stanols, which are saturated analogs of sterols, are very rare. Therefore, we have performed Grazing Incidence X-ray Diffraction (GIXD) experiments aimed at studying in-plane organization of a plant stanol-β-sitostanol monolayer and its mixtures with 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine - DPPC at the air/water interface. The collected GIXD data, resulting in-plane parameters and BAM images provide information on molecular organization and in-plane ordering of the investigated films. It was found that the lateral organization of β-sitostanol/DPPC monolayers depends on their composition. The oblique structure of the in-plane lattice of tilted hydrophobic region of molecules, found for DPPC film, is maintained at 10 mol% of stanol in the system. However, at 30 and 90 mol% of stanol in the mixture, the arrangement of molecules is hexagonal and they are oriented perpendicularly to the interface. With the addition of stanol the extend of the in-plane order of the monolayers decreases. Moreover, in mixtures the ordered domains consist of both monolayer's components. Additionally, β-sitostanol film is of similar in-plane organization as the corresponding sterol monolayer (β-sitosterol) and stanol induces condensing effect on DPPC.  相似文献

In the present work, the validity of the helicity rule relating the absolute configuration of the bridgehead carbon atom in bicyclic β-lactams to the sign of the 220 nm band observed in their electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra is examined for ring-expanded cephalosporin analogues. To this end, a series of model compounds with a seven-membered ring condensed with the β-lactam unit was synthesized. A key step of their synthesis was either the ring-closing metathesis (RCM) or the free radical cyclization leading to the seven-membered ring with an S, O, or C atom at the 6 position in the bicyclic skeleton. To investigate the scope and limitations of the simple, empirically established helicity rule, a combination of ECD spectroscopy, variable-temperature ECD measurements, X-ray analysis, and time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) calculations was used. A comparison of the experimental ECD spectra with the spectra simulated by TD-DFT calculations gives a reasonable interpretation of the Cotton effects observed in the 240-215 nm spectral range. The results suggest that the helicity rule does not apply to the investigated compounds because of the planarity of their amide chromophore. Thus, these compounds do not constitute an exception to the rule that was established for bi- and polycyclic β-lactams with the nonplanar amide chromophore only.  相似文献

The oxidation of aniline with silver nitrate in 1 mol L−1 acetic acid at 20 °C yielded a composite of two conducting components, polyaniline and silver; the acceleration with 1 mol% of p-phenylenediamine is needed for efficient synthesis. The yield and molecular weight increased when aniline was copolymerized with 10 mol% p-phenylenediamine. Such product displayed metallic conductivity below 180 K and semiconductor type above this temperature. As the result, the conductivity was the same at 100 and 300 K. The oxidation of p-phenylenediamine alone with silver nitrate also produced a conducting composite having the conductivity of 1,750 S cm−1 despite the assumed nonconductivity of poly(p-phenylenediamine). The present study demonstrates that all oxidations proceeded also in frozen reaction mixtures at −24 °C, i.e., in the solid state. In most cases, molecular weights of polymer component increased, the conductivity of composites with silver improved, to 2,990 S cm−1 for poly(p-phenylenediamine)–silver, and remained high after deprotonation with 1 mol L−1 ammonium hydroxide.

Detection of apoptosis is one of the main criteria of preimplantation embryo growth potential assessment. Recent developments in lab-on-a-chip techniques has led to apoptosis detection and monitoring on a single cell or embryo level. However, single embryo apoptosis detection without a change in embryo developmental competence and post-examination "recovery" still remains a challenge. In this paper we present a lab-on-a-chip, co-working with miniaturized optical instrumentation, which allows supravital examination of single embryos for the presence of apoptotic blastomers with full after lab-on-a-chip study "recovery" and maintenance of their further developmental capacity.  相似文献

The behaviour of an interfacial antimony device in potentiometric titrations in non-conducting solutions is described. In tests of the device, various alkaloids were titrated with organic acids, p-toluenesulphonic acid being the most satisfactory. The non-conducting media examined were chloroform, ligroin, benzene and carbon tetrachloride. In all cases, solutions of the titrant and the sample were prepared in the same organic solvent. Alkaloids in the range 10?3–10?4 M could usually be titrated with a precision of about 2%.  相似文献

This work presents the results of phase behavior studies of two-dimensional (2D) binary systems involving semifluorinated alkanes (SFAs) and fatty alcohols. Four different SFAs were selected for investigations: (i) with a short and branched perfluorinated moiety (iF3H20), (ii) with a short and normal perfluorinated chain (F4H20), (iii) with a long and branched perfluorinated fragment (iF9H20), and (iv) with a long and normal perfluorinated group (F10H20). Two alcohols were selected to mix with the above-mentioned SFAs: tetradecanol and docosanol. The measurements were based on surface pressure/area isotherms in addition to Brewster angle microscope (BAM) imaging. Dependencies of the collapse surface pressure and the compression modulus vs the monolayer composition together with the excess free energy of mixing values, complemented with BAM images, enabled us to draw some general conclusions regarding the phase behavior of the investigated mixed systems. Generally, it has been noticed that the addition of docosanol into an SFA monolayer exerts a condensing effect, contrary to tetradecanol. Moreover, SFAs with a long perfluorinated segment mix to a larger extent with alcohols as compared to their analogues having a short perfluorinated moiety. The resultant phase diagrams for all the investigated eight mixtures are presented and discussed.  相似文献

This work presents the application of a new construction of an electronic tongue for the classification of milk originating from various producers. Integrated array of microelectrodes was fabricated from epoxy-glass laminate. PVC membranes with various additives were used as chemosensitive layers. The developed device is capable of recognition of milk samples with high correctness. Moreover, the application of miniaturized reference electrode, integrated on the same substrate, also provided satisfactory results, which can be helpful in future constructions of hand-held electronic tongue systems.  相似文献

We study the Langmuir monolayers of four different ferroelectric liquid crystals on water surface. Two of them are attached to water surface by their polar groups, and the chiral groups, at the opposite ends of the elongated molecules, remain well above the interface. The other two ferroelectrics have both groups (polar and chiral) at close proximity, and therefore the chiral group is also attached to the surface or even submerged in water. We demonstrate that only when the chiral group of the ferroelectric liquid crystal in Langmuir monolayer is not attached to the interface and stays in the air does the system exhibit the collective rotations induced by evaporation of water (described for the first time by: Tabe, Y.; Yokoyama, H. Nat. Mater. 2003, 2, 806). The isotherms of surface pressure and surface potential versus molecular area of four compounds were measured with simultaneous observations using Brewster angle microscopy. Experimental data of the compression isotherms are described with a van der Waals model with very good accuracy, and the fitted parameters were used for calculations of compressibility coefficients for different phases found in the compounds under investigations. The ability of the two compounds for rotation and the disability of the two others is discussed in a context of thermodynamic properties of the monolayers.  相似文献

The paper is devoted to searching algorithms which will allow to generate images of attractors of generalized iterated function systems (GIFS in short), which are certain generalization of classical iterated function systems, defined by Mihail and Miculescu in 2008, and then intensively investigated in the last years (the idea is that instead of selfmaps of a metric space X, we consider mappings form the Cartesian product X×...×X to X). Two presented algorithms are counterparts of classical deterministic algorithm and so-called chaos game. The third and fourth one is fitted to special kind of GIFSs - to affine GIFS, which are, in turn, also investigated.  相似文献
