[structure: see text]. The first study on enantioselective oxidation of functionalized sterically hindered disulfides is reported. This study shows that the Shi organocatalytic system using carbohydrate-derived ketone with oxone is superior to the Ellman-Bolm vanadium catalyst in terms of chemical yield and enantioselectivity. Whereas the latter system afforded mostly racemic thiosulfinates in low to moderate yields, the former one afforded thiosulfinates with up to 96% ee.  相似文献

Tetrahedral solid state structures of the blue potassium tris(aryloxo)cobaltate(II)-tetrahydrofurane complexes of the formula KCo(OAr)(3).2thf (OAr = o-chloro-, o-bromo-, m-chloro-, p-bromo, 2,6-dichloro-, 2,4-dichloro- or 2,4-dimethylphenoxide) undergo solid-phase thermal tetrahedral to octahedral transformation accompanied by change in their colours from blue to rose (one-step thermochromism). Magnetic moments, electronic and infrared spectral studies supported these results. Thermal treatment of theses complexes leads to the loss of the crystallized thf molecule yielding also blue tetrahedral complexes. However, further heating leads to the loss of the coordinated thf molecule and the formation of rose octahedral trimeric products. TG-DTA results showed that the, two solvated thf molecules were eliminated in two steps. Mass spectral studies and IR intensity measurements confirmed the trimeric behaviour of the rose octahedral geometry of thermal products. Conductance measurements of solutions of these complexes in thf indicated that they behave as non-electrolytes.  相似文献

One of the most important topics in management science is determining the efficiency of Decision Making Units (DMUs). The Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) technique is employed for this purpose. In many DEA models, the best performance of a DMU is indicated by an efficiency score of one. There is often more than one DMU with this efficiency score. To rank and compare efficient units, many methods have been introduced under the name of super-efficiency methods. Among these methods, one can mention Andersen and Petersen’s (1993) [1] super-efficiency model, and the slack-based measure introduced by Tone (2002) [4]. Each of the methods proposed for ranking efficient DMUs has its own advantages and shortcomings. In this paper, we present a super-efficiency method by which units that are more effective and useful in society have better ranks. In fact, in order to determine super-efficiency by this method, the effectiveness of each unit in society is considered rather than the cross-comparison of the units. To do so, we divide the inputs and outputs into two groups, desirable and undesirable, at the discretion of the manager, and assign weights to each input and output. Then we determine the rank of each DMU according to the weights and the desirability of inputs and outputs.  相似文献

This paper presents a fuzzy algorithm for controlling original unstable periodic orbits of unknown discrete chaotic systems. In the modeling phase, only input–output data pairs provided from the true system are required. The fuzzy model is developed using Gaussian membership functions and consequent functions where the Levenberg–Marquardt computational algorithm is employed for the model parameters calculation. In the controller design phase, the L2-stability criterion is used, which forms the basis of the main design principle. Simulation results are given to illustrate the effectiveness and control performance of the proposed method.  相似文献

Cinnamomum camphora L. is grown as an ornamental plant, used as raw material for furniture, as a source of camphor, and its essential oil can be used as an important source for perfume as well as alternative medicine. A comparative investigation of essential oil compositions and antimicrobial activities of different tissues of C. camphora was carried out. The essential oils were extracted by hydrodistillation with a Clevenger apparatus and their compositions were evaluated through gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), enantiomeric composition by chiral GC-MS, and antimicrobial properties were assayed by measuring minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs). Different plant tissues had different extraction yields, with the leaf having the highest yield. GC-MS analysis revealed the presence of 18, 75, 87, 67, 67, and 74 compounds in leaf, branch, wood, root, leaf/branch, and leaf/branch/wood, respectively. The significance of combining tissues is to enable extraction of commercial quality essential oils without the need to separate them. The oxygenated monoterpene camphor was the major component in all tissues of C. camphora except for safrole in the root. With chiral GC-MS, the enantiomeric distributions of 12, 12, 13, 14, and 14 chiral compounds in branch, wood, root, leaf/branch, and leaf/branch/wood, respectively, were determined. The variation in composition and enantiomeric distribution in the different tissues of C. camphora may be attributed to the different defense requirements of these tissues. The wood essential oil showed effective antibacterial activity against Serratia marcescens with an MIC of 39.1 μg/mL. Similarly, the mixture of leaf/branch/wood essential oils displayed good antifungal activity against Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus fumigatus while the leaf essential oil was notably active against Trichophyton rubrum. C. camphora essential oils showed variable antimicrobial activities against dermal and pulmonary-borne microbes.  相似文献

The synthesis and analysis of inorganic material combinatorial libraries by the split-pool bead method were demonstrated at the proof-of-concept level. Millimeter-size spherical beads of porous gamma-alumina, a commonly used support material for heterogeneous catalysts, were modified with Al(13)O(4)(OH)(24)(H(2)O)(12)(7+) cations in order to promote irreversible adsorption of the anionic fluorescent dyes Cascade Blue, Lucifer Yellow, and Sulforhodamine 101. The compositions of individual beads were easily determined through three split-pool cycles using a conventional fluorescence plate reader. Small split-pool material libraries were made by adsorbing noble metal salts (H(2)PtCl(6), H(2)IrCl(6), and RhCl(3)) into the beads. Analysis of these beads by micro-X-ray fluorescence showed that quantitative adsorption of metal salts without cross-contamination of beads could be achieved at levels (0.3 wt % metal loading) relevant to heterogeneous catalysis. The method offers the potential for synthesis of rather large libraries of inorganic materials through relatively simple benchtop split-pool chemistry.  相似文献

The mechanism of enhancing the light harvesting efficiency of dye-sensitized TiO(2) solar cells by coupling TiO(2) inverse opals or disordered scattering layers to conventional nanocrystalline TiO(2) films has been investigated. Monochromatic incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency (IPCE) at dye-sensitized TiO(2) inverse opals of varying stop band wavelengths and at disordered titania films was compared to the IPCE at bilayers of these structures coupled to nanocrystalline TiO(2) films and to the IPCE at nanocrystalline TiO(2) electrodes. The results showed that the bilayer architecture, rather than enhanced light harvesting within the inverse opal structures, is responsible for the bulk of the gain in IPCE. Several mechanisms of light interaction in these structures, including localization of heavy photons near the edges of a photonic gap, Bragg diffraction in the periodic lattice, and multiple scattering events at disordered regions in the photonic crystal or at disordered films, lead ultimately to enhanced backscattering. This largely accounts for the enhanced light conversion efficiency in the red spectral range (600-750 nm), where the sensitizer is a poor absorber.  相似文献

Metal nanowires containing in-wire monolayer junctions of 16-mercaptohexanoic acid were made by replication of the pores of 70 nm diameter polycarbonate track etch membranes. Au was electrochemically deposited halfway through the 6 microm long pores and a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of 16-mercaptohexadecanoic acid was adsorbed on top. A thin layer of Au was then electrolessly grown to form a metal cap separated from the bottom part of the wire by the SAM. Electron micrographs showed that the bottom and top metal segments were separated by an approximately 2 nm thick organic monolayer. Current-voltage measurements of individual nanowires confirmed that the organic monolayer could be contacted electrically on the top and bottom by the metal nanowire segments without introducing electrical short circuits that penetrate the monolayer. The values of the electrical properties for zero-bias resistance, current density, and breakdown field strength were within the ranges expected for a well-ordered alkanethiol SAM of this thickness.  相似文献

We report a quantitative comparison of the photoaction spectra, short circuit current densities, and power conversion efficiencies of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) that contain bilayers of nanocrystalline TiO2 (nc-TiO2) and titania inverse opal photonic crystals (PCs). Cells were fabricated with PC/nc-TiO2 and nc-TiO2/PC bilayer films on glass/tin oxide anode of the cell, as well as in a split configuration in which the nc-TiO2 and PC layers were deposited on the anode and cathode sides of the cell, respectively. Incident photon current efficiencies at single wavelengths and current-voltage curves in white light were obtained with both cathode and anode side illumination. The results obtained support a model proposed by Miguez and co-workers, in which coupling of the low refractive index PC layer to the higher index nc-TiO2 layer creates a standing wave in the nc-TiO2 layer, enhancing the response of the DSSC in the red region of the spectrum. This enhancement is very sensitive to the degree of physical contact between the two layers. A gap on the order of 200 nm thick, created by a polymer templating technique, is sufficient to decouple the two layers optically. The coupling of the nc-TiO2 and PC layers across the gap could be improved slightly by treatment with TiCl4 vapor. In the bilayer configuration, there is an enhancement in the IPCE across the visible spectrum, which is primarily caused by defect scattering in the PC layer. There is also an increase of 20-50 mV in the open circuit photovoltage of the cell. With anode side illumination, the addition of a PC layer to the nc-TiO2 layer increased the efficiency of DSSCs from 6.5 to 8.3% at a constant N719 dye loading of 155-160 nmol/cm2.  相似文献
