VO(salen)(X) catalysed asymmetric cyanohydrin synthesis: an unexpected influence of the nature of anion X on the catalytic activity

The nature of the anionic ligand X (X = EtOSO3, BF4, Cl, Br, OSO2CF3, F or CN) in vanadium(V)salen complexes [V+ O(salen) X-] was found to have a significant influence on the catalytic activity of the complexes, but not on their enantioselectivities; with the complexes in which X = Cl or F being most active and the complex with X = OSO2CF3 being totally inactive.     

Photodissociation of the BrO radical using velocity map ion imaging: excited state dynamics and accurate D0(0)(BrO) evaluation

We have studied the photodissociation dynamics of expansion-cooled BrO radical both above (278-281.5 nm) and below (355 nm) the A (2)Pi(3/2) state threshold using velocity map ion imaging. A recently developed late-mixing flash pyrolytic reactor source was utilized to generate an intense BrO radical molecular beam. The relative electronic product branching ratios at 355 nm and from 278 to 281.5 nm were determined. We have investigated the excited state dynamics based on both the product branching and the photofragment angular distributions. We find that above the O((1)D(2)) threshold the contribution of the direct excitation to states other than the A (2)Pi(3/2) state and the role of curve crossing is considerably larger in BrO compared to that observed for ClO, in agreement with recent theoretical studies. The measurement of low velocity photofragments resulting from photodissociation just above the O((1)D(2)) threshold provides an accurate and direct determination of the A (2)Pi(3/2) state dissociation threshold of 35418+/-35 cm(-1), leading to a ground state bond energy of D(0)(0)(BrO)=55.9+/-0.1 kcal/mol.     

Broadband self-pulsating fiber laser based on soliton self-frequency shift and regenerative self-phase modulation

We demonstrate experimentally and numerically the operation of a self-pulsating fiber laser based on the cascaded effects of soliton self-frequency shift and self-phase modulation spectral broadening. The combination of those two effects triggers and sustains the propagation of picosecond pulses in the cavity. At one of the outputs, the laser emits a supercontinuum with spectral width in excess of 150 nm at the repetition rate of 95 kHz.     

Fabrication and characterization of a pulsed fiber ring laser based on As2S3

We demonstrate the operation of a fiber ring laser using a 19.5 cm segment of As2S3 chalcogenide fiber. The laser is passively mode-locked via nonlinear polarization rotation and provides two different operation regimes of picosecond and noiselike pulses. This ring configuration also enables an accurate measurement of the chromatic dispersion of the chalcogenide fiber.     

静态法和X射线吸收精细结构光谱技术研究腐殖酸对Eu(III)在高庙子膨润土上的吸附影响

膨润土由于其高吸附性和低渗透性而受到广泛的研究. 在本文中, 利用XRD、FTIR和酸碱滴定对我国内蒙古高庙子膨润土进行了详细的表征和分析. 用静态法研究在温度为25± 2 ℃和0.01 mol/L NaClO4溶液中, pH值、腐殖酸、接触时间和Eu(III)初始浓度对Eu(III)在钠基膨润土上的吸附影响. 研究结果表明Eu(III)的吸附受pH值影响明显. 在低pH值条件下, 腐殖酸对Eu(III)的吸附影响微弱, 而在高pH值条件下腐殖酸降低Eu(III)的吸附. X射线吸收精细结构光谱(XAFS)技术对吸附在膨润土上的Eu(III)局域微观结构研究结果表明, 在pH为4.15条件下, Eu在膨润土上与其周围的氧原子间的距离大约为2.39 Å. 本文中的研究结果对于评估其他三价镧系和锕系元素在作为填充材料的膨润土上的吸附和迁移具有重要的意义.
