Ultracompact high-efficiency polarizing beam splitter with a hybrid photonic crystal and conventional waveguide structure 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We propose an ultracompact high-efficiency polarizing beam splitter that operates over a wide wavelength range and is based on a hybrid photonic crystal and a conventional waveguide structure. Within a small area (15 microm x 10 microm), this polarizing beam splitter separates TM- and TE-polarized modes into orthogonal output waveguides. Results of simulations with the two-dimensional finite-difference time-domain method show that 99.3% of TM-polarized light is deflected by the photonic crystal structure (with a 28.0-dB extinction ratio), whereas 99.0% of TE-polarized light propagates through the structure (with a 32.2-dB extinction ratio). Wave vector diagrams are employed to explain the operation of a polarizing beam splitter. Tolerance analysis reveals a large tolerance to fabrication errors. 相似文献

Positive muons have been used to monitor the proton and deuteron mobilities in mixed, concentrated NbH_xD_y hydrides, with
x+y= constant. The mobility of the muons decreases linearly with increasing D‐content, which is expected if the protons and

High Resolution Electron Microscopy on Yttrium Iodide Carbide Oxides An investigation on the real structure of the yttrium iodide carbide oxides has been carried out by means of HRTEM. In the structures planar layer fragments with the general composition Y2I2C are linked via chains of corner sharing Y4O tetrahedra building corrugated layers. A sequence of compounds with the general formula (Y2I2C)nYO can be derived where n denotes the number of linked octahedra chains in the plane sections, and thus represents their width. Irregularities concerning the width of the planar segments have been detected. Besides the so far known members of the series Y7I6C3O und Y9I8C4O, with n = 3 and 4, respectively, an additional ordered compound with alternating 3 and 4 octahedra chains has been found. Summary A technique is described to obtain shockfrozen tissue specimens from a beating heart in situ using liquid propane as cooling agent. The method allows to take up to 8 samples from the ischemic area of the left ventricle of a pig heart following acute coronary artery occlusion.A freeze-drying apparatus was developed in which, under a vacuum of 10–6 mm Hg, the specimens remain for 10 days with the temperature slowly rising from initially –100 C to room temperature. Freezing damages in the tissues samples due to the formation of ice crystals either during shock-freezing or freeze-drying are usually below the spatial resolution of the microscope system employed in the LAMMA instrument. Already after a few minutes of ischemia, a considerable decrease of the intracellular K/Na relation was measured.
