Virtual hydrocarbon and combinatorial databases for use with CAVEAT

Three new virtual databases have been developed for use with the bond-orientation-based database searching program CAVEAT. These consist of a database of trisubstituted monocyclic hydrocarbons having ethyl, vinyl, and phenyl substituents; a database of unsubstituted bicyclic hydrocarbons; and a database of core structures from established combinatorial synthetic methods having hydrogen, ethyl, vinyl, and phenyl substituents at the readily varied positions. Each collection of molecules was subjected to a batch conformational search, minimization, and conversion to a vector database for use with CAVEAT.     

Low-pressure gradient micro-ion chromatography with ultra-short monolithic anion exchange column

A 1.0 x 0.4 cm silica based monolithic anion exchanger has been produced and evaluated for use within a miniature gradient suppressed ion chromatography system based upon low-pressure micro-scale peristaltic pumps.     

Continuous-wave lasing of a stoichiometric Yb laser material: KYb(WO4)2

For the first time to the authors' knowledge, continuous-wave laser emission of the stoichiometric crystal KYb(WO4)2 was achieved at 1068 nm. The 125-microm-thin sample was directly water cooled and pumped at 1025 nm by a Ti:sapphire laser. The maximum output power at room temperature was 20 mW.     

Construction of solutions of integro-differential equations with restrictions and control by projection-iterative method

Reactions of <Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis>-acetyltrifluoroacetamide with chlorophosphites

Reactions of N-acetyltrifluoroacetamide with chlorophosphites give rise to O-phosphorylated N-trifluoroacetoacetylimidates, which transform into α-phosphorylated vinylamides of trifluroacetic acid as a result of vinylphosphite-vinylphosphonate rearrangement. On the basis of nonempirical calculations data the reaction protocol of N-acetyltrifluoroacetamide with chlorophosphites was suggested.     

Sorbent based on alumina modified with pyrocatechol violet

Pyrocatechol violet is used to modify the alumina surface. Optimal modification conditions are chosen; the sorption mechanism at different pH values is proposed. New sorbents are applied to concentrate copper ions by sorption through complexation.
