GC and MS were used for the analysis of Croatian Centaurium erythraea Rafn essential oil (obtained by hydrodistillation) and headspace (applying headspace solid-phase microextraction). The headspace contained numerous monoterpene hydrocarbons (the major ones were terpinene-4-ol, methone, p-cymene, γ-terpinene and limonene). Oxygenated monoterpenes were present in the headspace and oil, while 1,8-cineole, bornyl acetate and verbenone were present only in the headspace. High headspace percentages of toluene and naphthalene were found, followed by hemimellitene. Lot of similarities were observed with Serbian C. erythraea oil [neophytadiene (1.4%), thymol (2.6%), carvacrol (6.1%) and hexadecanoic acid (5.7%)], but different features were also noted such as the presence of menthol, menthone and phytone. The oil fractionation enabled identification of other minor compounds not found in total oil such as norisoprenoides, alk-1-enes or chromolaenin. The essential oil showed antimicrobial potential on Escherichia coli, Salmonella enteritidis, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus. On the other hand, no antibacterial activity of the oil was observed on Pseudomonas fluorescens and Lysteria monocytogenes.  相似文献

An unexpected blue-fluorescence band (around 420 nm) from both micrometer-sized dried particles and aqueous droplets of riboflavin [7,8-dimethyl-10-(D-1-ribityl)-isoalloxazine] is observed when the microparticles are irradiated with a pulsed UV (355- or 351-nm) laser. The intensity of the band increases quadratically with input laser energy density (fluence) and is attributable to a one-photon-excited fluorescence of lumichrome (7,8-dimethyl-alloxazine) that is produced by photo-degradation of riboflavin. The well-known greenish-yellow fluorescence band (at 560 nm for dried particles and 535 nm for aqueous droplets) from riboflavin increases sublinearly with UV-laser fluence. With a laser input fluence above 5 J/cm2 the riboflavin fluorescence decays earlier and the lumichrome fluorescence reaches a maximum later than the peak of the input laser pulse. The temporal dynamics of the 420- and 535-nm fluorescence peaks are consistent with a rate-equation simulation of photon-induced conversion of riboflavin to lumichrome and the subsequent fluorescence of lumichrome. The goal of this work is the simulation of concentration and temperature distributions insides fluidized bed with a uniform liquid distribution. Further, a physically based 2D model is developed for the heat and mass transfer processes in fluidized beds with a spray nozzle. The model is a coupled and semi-linear system of convection-reaction-diffusion equations. We considered the numerical solution of these semi-linear partial differential equations with discrete boundary conditions using linear finite elements on an adaptive triangular grid in space and implicit methods in time. We present calculations using, semi implicit and implicit methods in time, and different solvers for solving the linear systems. The complex correlations of mass and liquid flow rates, mass transfer, heat transfer, drying, and transient two dimensional air humidity, air temperature, degree of wetness, liquid film temperature and particle temperature were simulated. Like other organs, brain functions diminish with age. Furthermore, for a variety of neurological disorders—including Alzheimer’s disease—age is one of the higher-risk factors. Since in many Western countries the average age is increasing, determining approaches for decreasing the effects of aging on brain function is taking on a new urgency. Neuroinflammation and oxidative stress are two convoluted key factors in brain aging and chronic neurodegenerative diseases. The diverseness of factors, causing an age-related decrease in brain functions, requires identifying small molecules that have multiple biological activities that can affect all these factors. One great source of these small molecules is related to polyphenolic flavonoids. Recently, 3,3′,4′,7-tetrahydroxyflavone (fisetin) has been reported as a potent senotherapeutic capable of extending lifespan by reducing peroxidation levels and enhancing antioxidant cell responses. The neuroprotective effects of fisetin have been shown in several in vitro and in vivo models of neurological disorders due to its actions on multiple pathways associated with different neurological disorders. The present work aims to collect the most recent achievements related to the antioxidant and neuroprotective effects of fisetin. Moreover, in silico pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and toxicity of fisetin are also comprehensively described along with emerging novel drug delivery strategies for the amelioration of this flavonol bioavailability and chemical stability.  相似文献

The plasma-activated gas is capable of decontaminating surfaces of different materials in remote distances. The effect of plasma-activated water vapor on Staphylococcus epidermidis, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli biofilm contamination was investigated on the polypropylene nonwoven textile surface. The robust and technically simple multi-hollow surface dielectric barrier discharge was used as a low-temperature atmospheric plasma source to activate the water-based medium. The germicidal efficiency of short and long-time exposure to plasma-activated water vapor was evaluated by standard microbiological cultivation and fluorescence analysis using a fluorescence multiwell plate reader. The test was repeated in different distances of the contaminated polypropylene nonwoven sample from the surface of the plasma source. The detection of reactive species in plasma-activated gas flow and condensed activated vapor, and thermal and electrical properties of the used plasma source, were measured. The bacterial biofilm decontamination efficiency increased with the exposure time and the plasma source power input. The log reduction of viable biofilm units decreased with the increasing distance from the dielectric surface.  相似文献
