Structural analysis of minor components in mixtures is a vital requirement in the development of any pharmaceutical compound. Mass spectrometry is uniquely able to give this kind of information on the trace amounts of material present as minor impurities in a drug substance. In this study we show that a combination of mass spectrometric analysers with different characteristics is an even more powerful approach with a higher chance of establishing a potential structure. In particular the advent of analysers capable of accurate mass measurement on small amounts of material has enabled structures to be proposed in situations where previously no real conclusions could be made. This paper presents a numerical method for solving the two‐dimensional unsteady incompressible Navier–Stokes equations in a vorticity–velocity formulation. The method is applicable for simulating the nonlinear wave interaction in a two‐dimensional boundary layer flow. It is based on combined compact difference schemes of up to 12th order for discretization of the spatial derivatives on equidistant grids and a fourth‐order five‐ to six‐alternating‐stage Runge–Kutta method for temporal integration. The spatial and temporal schemes are optimized together for the first derivative in a downstream direction to achieve a better spectral resolution. In this method, the dispersion and dissipation errors have been minimized to simulate physical waves accurately. At the same time, the schemes can efficiently suppress numerical grid‐mesh oscillations. The results of test calculations on coarse grids are in good agreement with the linear stability theory and comparable with other works. The accuracy and the efficiency of the current code indicate its potential to be extended to three‐dimensional cases in which full boundary layer transition happens. We present a theoretical and experimental investigation of the bending recovery performances for a commercial NiTi shape memory alloy strip. We evaluate the mechanical properties and the shape setting parameters and estimate the evolution of the curvature during heating in an Ethylene Glycol-based water solution. To model the strip bending response, we use a one-dimensional phenomenological constitutive equation for the shape memory material, based on the introduction of (twinned and detwinned) martensite and austenite volume fractions as internal variables. Under the assumption of uniform bending, we calculate a quasi-closed-form solution for the stress and martensite fraction distributions in a shape memory beam during bending and subsequent shape recovery. Using our characterisation data as input parameters of the model, we find that the theoretical curvature evolution is in good agreement with experimental data. 相似文献

The application of a novel fast optical‐imaging camera, TimepixCam, to molecular photoionization experiments using the velocity‐map imaging technique at a free‐electron laser is described. TimepixCam is a 256 × 256 pixel CMOS camera that is able to detect and time‐stamp ion hits with 20 ns timing resolution, thus making it possible to record ion momentum images for all fragment ions simultaneously and avoiding the need to gate the detector on a single fragment. This allows the recording of significantly more data within a given amount of beam time and is particularly useful for pump–probe experiments, where drifts, for example, in the timing and pulse energy of the free‐electron laser, severely limit the comparability of pump–probe scans for different fragments taken consecutively. In principle, this also allows ion–ion covariance or coincidence techniques to be applied to determine angular correlations between fragments. 相似文献

Resonant Raman spectra of photoexcited semi-insulating GaAs and Fe/GaAs show features characteristic of two-dimensional electron plasmas. The results are ascribed to the presence of a space-charge layer at the surface, originating in a slight mismatch of Fermi-level positions at the vacuum (or metal) interface and in the bulk. Calculations using values of intersubband transition energies from the data give an estimated shift of ~0.04 eV for the Fermi-level position at T = 85K. 相似文献
