A set of equations is presented and the effect of rotation of the secondary principal stress axes is discussed. The equations, general and relatively simple, adequately describe observed results. In studying the equations, a better understanding of the rotational effect can be achieved, and a technique is suggested which can eliminate any error resulting from rotation. The economical processing of low-volume products has been a challenge to the gamma industry since inception, influencing customers to send their products to contractors or choose alternative technologies. With the introduction of the Brevion irradiator (patent pending), economical gamma processing of low annual volume product lines is now possible. This innovative design is specifically targeted at plants processing product volumes of up to 20,000 m3/yr. Brevion provides good cobalt efficiency and good dose uniformity, thus processing these volumes efficiently and economically. The Brevion facility has the distinct advantage of a low capital cost, compared to medium-sized automatic tote plants, while maintaining similar performance. Lead-time for the construction phase is also considerably shorter, resulting in significantly lower start-up costs. Companies with low-volume product lines can now achieve the control provided by in-house processing, and eliminate transportation time and costs associated with shipping products off-site. 相似文献

Ab initio molecular orbital theory has been used to probe the effect of the substituent X on the structures, strain energies, stabilization energies, inversion barriers, and proton affinities of carbanions CH3CX CH and cis-C3H4X?, where X = H, F, CN, and NC. All geometries have been optimized with a 3-21G basis set, and the parent anions (X = H) were also optimized with the same basis set with a diffuse function added (i.e. the 3-21 + G basis set). The anions, with the exception of the α-cyanoisopropyl anion, are pyramidal. The out-of-plane angle, α, for the pyramidal anions decreases in the order F > H ≈ NC > CN, and the barriers to inversion follow the same order with the cyclopropyl anions consistently having higher barriers than the isopropyl anions. The substituents strongly stabilize the anions with the stabilization energy following the order CN > NC > F. The cyano group slightly reduces the strain energy of cyclopropane, but the isocyano and fluoro substituents are weakly and strongly destabilizing, respectively. The pyramidal cyclopropyl anions are less strained than the cyclopropanes except when the substituent is a cyano group where the strain energies are reversed but are very similar. The relationship between cross-linking and thermal stability as related to polybutadiene is the focus of current research. Cross-linked polybutadienes have been prepared using various diols as the cross-linking agent. Cross-linked polymers have been characterized by gel content, swelling ratios, infrared spectroscopy, and thermal analysis. These polymers are not highly cross-linked, as seen by gel content and swelling ratios, and cross-linking does not have a large effect on the onset temperature of the degradation.
