MiniMax: What has been learned thus far

Summary A small experiment, ?MiniMax?, has been set up in the C0 intersection region of the Fermilab Tevatron to seek evidence for disoriented chiral condensates and to study other forward physics phenomena. The experiment consists of a proportional wire chamber telescope accompanied by scintillation (trigger) counters, a lead converter, and followed by an electromagnetic calorimeter. The solid angle accepted is a cone centered at pseudorapidity (η) of 4.1 and of radius (in η-ϕ space) of about 0.6. Over 2.5 million events thus far have demonstrated the successful operation of the apparatus, however to date the analysis has not progressed sufficiently to permit any conclusions concerning disoriented chiral condensates. presented byL. A cubic Hénon-like map in the unfolding of degenerate homoclinic orbit with resonance

In this Note, we study the unfolding of a vector field that possesses a degenerate homoclinic (of inclination-flip type) to a hyperbolic equilibrium point where its linear part possesses a resonance. For the unperturbed system, the resonant term associated with the resonance vanishes. After suitable rescaling, the Poincaré return map is a cubic Hénon-like map. We deduce the existence of a strange attractor which persists in the Lebesgue measure sense. We also show the presence of an attractor with topological entropy close to $\log 3$. Chromofields of strings and baryons

We calculate color electric fields of quark/antiquark ( ) and 3-quark (qqq) systems within the Chromodielectric Model (CDM). We explicitly evaluate the string tension of flux tubes in the -system and analyze their profile. To reproduce results of lattice calculations we use a bag pressure from which an effective strong-coupling constant follows.
