Polymer coatings are frequently used to modify surface properties of inorganic substrates. However, the disparity in physical properties between polymer film and substrate often leads to residual stress development, which can be deleterious to the overall performance of coated materials. This work reports the molecular design of polymer films that dissipate stress upon irradiation with ultraviolet (UV) light. These polymers are synthesized by post-polymerization modification of the reactive polymer, poly(2-vinyl-4,4-dimethyl azlactone), to introduce dynamic crosslinks capable of light-initiated addition transfer fragmentation chemistry. Using a custom-built optical cantilever, contrasting film stress responses are observed between films containing dynamic bonds and analogous control films after UV light irradiation, which indicate successful stress relaxation. Further experiments demonstrate the complete relaxation of residual stress in dynamic films after an extended exposure, thereby generating a “stress-free” film. Films fabricated using this approach can be easily tailored to incorporate additional moieties to introduce desired surface properties for future application in a wide array of coatings.  相似文献

The single-molecule magnet (SMM) properties of a series of ferrocenium complexes, [Fe(η5-C5R5)2]+ (R=Me, Bn), are reported. In the presence of an applied dc field, the slow dynamics of the magnetization in [Fe(η5-C5Me5)2]BArF are revealed. Multireference quantum mechanical calculations show a large energy difference between the ground and first excited states, excluding the commonly invoked, thermally activated (Orbach-like) mechanism of relaxation. In contrast, a detailed analysis of the relaxation time highlights that both direct and Raman processes are responsible for the SMM properties. Similarly, the bulky ferrocenium complexes, [Fe(η5-C5Bn5)2]BF4 and [Fe(η5-C5Bn5)2]PF6, also exhibit magnetization slow dynamics, however an additional relaxation process is clearly detected for these analogous systems.  相似文献

Various CBB‐based methods for staining proteins separated by 2‐D gel electrophoresis were compared with regard to sensitivity and resolution. A modified Kang's CBB staining protocol, which we have modified, includes phosphoric acid in a concentration of 8% instead of the original 2%. This proved to be the best approach. Protein amounts as low as 2 ng and ∼2300 spots in the gel can be detected by employing this protocol. The modified procedure takes less time to carry out. Moreover, this practice is more sensitive and resolves more protein spots than most protocols reported to date and is compatible with subsequent mass spectrometric analysis.  相似文献

Single stranded DNA‐targets from asymmetric polymerase chain reaction (PCR) of a sequence of the gram positive, spore forming bacterium Clostridium acetobutylicum were detected by square‐wave voltammetry after labeling with osmium tetroxide bipyridine and hybridization with DNA capture probes immobilized on gold electrodes. The asymmetric PCR, performed with a 10‐fold excess of the forward‐primer, was used without any further purification for hybridization with protective strands and covalent labeling with osmium tetroxide bipyridine. Square‐wave voltammetric signals of 20 nmol/L targets were significantly higher at 50 °C compared with 23 °C hybridization temperature. A fully noncomplementary protective strand yielded thoroughly modified targets unable for further hybridization. Coupling this with thermal discrimination opens new opportunities for sequence specific DNA detection.  相似文献

The jaspamide/chondramide family of depsipeptides are mixed PKS/NRPS natural products isolated from marine sponges and a terrestrial myxobacterium that potently affect the function of the actin cytoskeleton. As a first step to improve production in heterologous host cells and permit genetic approaches to novel analogs, we have cloned and characterized the chondramide biosynthetic genes from the myxobacterium Chondromyces crocatus Cm c5. In addition to the expected PKS and NRPS genes, the cluster encodes a rare tyrosine aminomutase for beta-tyrosine formation and a previously unknown tryptophan-2-halogenase. Conditions for gene transfer into C. crocatus Cm c5 were developed, and inactivation of several genes corroborated their proposed function and served to define the boundaries of the cluster. Biochemical characterization of the final NRPS adenylation domain confirmed the direct activation of beta-tyrosine, and fluorinated chondramides were produced through precursor-directed biosynthesis.  相似文献
