Angular velocity in heated rotating nuclei

For a heated rotating nucleus, the angular velocity is equal to one-half the γ-ray transition energy if and only if the band E(I) follows a trajectory of constant entropy.

The crystalline of PCL/PLL random copolymers, prepared by anionic polymerisation in the melt and freed of residual monomer(s), vary with composition and are at a minimum for approx. $\text{65}\text{35}$ mole% composition. The T_g's of the copolymers show a minimum with composition; this effect is discussed in relation to the different co-unit compositions of the crystalline and the amorphous phases. The copolymers are tough thermoplastics with values of yield stress, stress at 100% elongation, and modulus all tending to a minimum for the compositions of lowest crystallinity and highest birefringence. The tensile strengths at break are independent of crystallinity and vary linearly with NH(CH₂)₅CO unit content.     

Two-photon ionization spectrum of the 1Lb ← S0 transition in toluene

The multiphoton ionization (MPI) spectrum of toluene arising from the ¹B₂ (¹L_b) valence state has been investigated. The state participates as a two-photon resonance. A total of nine excited state fundamentals have been characterized, including three non-totally symmetric vibrations. The toluene MPI spectrum shows a strong resemblance to the two-photon fluorescence excitation spectrum with the strongest transitions taking place to the origin and excited state modes ν₁(a₁), ν₁₂(a₁) and ν₁₄(b)₂). The intensities of the observed fundamentals are rationalized in terms of Franck-Condon and vibronic coupling effects. A major conclusion is, that the primary mechanism for the activity of ν₁₂ is vibronic coupling.

A complete classification is given for neighborly combinatorial 3-manifolds with 9 vertices. It is found that there are 51 types, only one of which is not a sphere.
