We present a quantum-chemical analysis of the molecular structure and second- and third-order polarizabilities in a series of promising nonlinear optical (NLO) chromophores, the zwitterionic ammonio/borato diphenylpolyenes, R3N+Ph(C=C)nPhB-R3, whose synthesis has been reported recently. The molecular geometries are obtained via MP2/6-31G optimization, while the NLO properties are calculated with the INDO Hamiltonian using the sum-over-states and finite-field real-space methods. The real-space approach allows the direct evaluation of the NLO-active segments of the molecules, while the sum-over-states results illustrate the virtual excitations and charge-transfer pathways that are essential in the NLO response. Both methods highlight the remarkable and unexpected result that it is the strongly polarized phenylene groups that play the key role in generating a high NLO response.  相似文献

Phase diagrams, volumes and heat capacities of aqueous mixtures of 2,6-dimethylpyridine (2,6-L) and 2-isobutoxyethanol (iBE) and activities of 2,6-L in aqueous mixtures were measured in the monophasic region near the lower critical solution temperature (LCST). With 2,6-L some measurement were also made just above the LCST. From the temperature dependence of these data, partial molar relative enthalpies (2,6-L), expansibilities and the temperature derivative of heat capacities were calculated and show that iBE undergoes a microphase transition at low concentration which is not related to the phase separation. On the other hand, the properties of 2,6-L in the water-rich region at temperatures well below the LCST indicates that this solute has only a slight tendency to associate. The heat capacities of 2,6-L show an important increase near the LCST. Such changes are not observed for iBE and other alkoxyethanols and amines since these systems already exist in the form of microphases; the partial molar properties of iBE near the LCST are nearly equal to the molar values of the pure liquid, and the changes in thermodynamic properties corresponding to the macroscopic phase transition, are therefore too small to be measured by the present techniques.  相似文献

Singlet oxygen has been detected in single nerve cells by its weak 1270 nm phosphorescence (a1deltag --> X3sigmag-) upon irradiation of a photosensitizer incorporated in the cell. Thus, one can now consider the application of direct optical imaging techniques to mechanistic studies of singlet oxygen at the single-cell level.  相似文献

The efficiency of several porphyrins at 10 μM and 83 μM as sensitizers of the photooxidation of 0.1 mM tryptophan and histidine via a singlet oxygen-mechanism was studied in pH 7.4-buffered aqueous solutions and in aqueous dispersions of Triton X-100 micelles. The porphyrins were either solubilized in the bulk aqueous medium or associated with the micellar phase, whereas the amino acids were always located in the aqueous phase. With those porphyrins, such as uroporphyrin I, meso-tetra (4-sulfonatophenyl)porphine, meso-tetra(4-carboxyphenyl)porphine and meso-tetra)N,N,N-trimethylanilinium)porphine, which are > 98% monomeric in both media, the efficiency of histidine photooxidation was independent of the site of O2(1Δg) generation, as shown by the closely similar values for the photooxidation rate constant and oxygen-consumption quantum yield in the presence and absence of Triton micelles; the same indications were provided by photokinetic experiments with tryptophan. Actually, laser flash photolysis studies showed that the micelle-incorporation of the above mentioned porphyrins brought about only minor changes in their photophysical properties, including the relative yield of O2(1Δg) generation. On the other hand, hematoporphyrin IX, its Zn2+-complex, and coproporphyrin III are largely aggregated in homogeneous aqueous solution; their incorporation into Triton micelles caused an increase of the triplet quantum yield and an enhancement of the oxygen-consumption quantum yield and photooxidation rate constant for both histidine and tryptophan. The lower photosensitizing efficiency of aggregated porphyrin species in comparison with the corresponding monomeric porphyrin was confirmed by measuring the initial rate and quantum yield of oxygen consumption upon irradiation of 1 mM histidine and tryptophan in the presence of different hematoporphyrin concentrations within the 0.3-100μM range.  相似文献

Protonated 4,4'-diaminotriphenylmethyl cation, DATM, has been investigated as a colorimetric reagent for the determination of sulphur dioxide. The bisulphite addition compound with formaldehyde alkylates a primary arylamine group in the protonated reagent to re-establish resonance, and hence produces a colour that is proportional in intensity to the concentration of either bisulphite or formaldehyde (the other being in excess). The large bathochromic spectral shift results in a negligible blank correction. Cyclohexanone in aqueous solution has been found to stabilize bisulphite solutions for up to 6 hr. The stabilization by cyclohexanone has been compared with stabilization by tetrachloromercurate(II). The Beer-Lambert law is obeyed with good precision for both sulphite and formaldehyde determination.  相似文献

A biocompatible stir bar sorptive extraction (SBSE) device was prepared using an alkyl-diol-silica (ADS) restricted access material (RAM) as the SBSE coating. The RAM-SBSE bar was able to simultaneously fractionate the protein component from a biological sample, while directly extracting caffeine and its metabolites, overcoming the present disadvantages of direct sampling in biological matrices by SBSE, such as fouling of the extraction coating by proteins. Desorption of the analytes was performed by stirring the bar in a water/ACN mixture (3/1, v/v) and subsequently reconcentrating the sample solution in water to enable HPLC-UV analysis to be performed. The limit of detection, based on a signal to noise ratio of 3, for caffeine was 25 ng/mL in plasma. The method was confirmed to be linear over the range of 0.5-100 microg/mL of caffeine with an average linear coefficient (R2) value of 0.9981. The injection repeatability and intra-assay precision of the method were evaluated over ten injections, resulting in a %RSD of approximately 8%. The RAM-SBSE device was robust (>50 extraction in plasma without significant signal loss) and simple to use, providing many direct extractions and subsequent determination of caffeine and its metabolites in biological fluids. In contrast to existing sample preparation methods for the analysis of caffeine and selected metabolites in biological fluids, this feasibility study using a biocompatible SBSE approach was advantageous in terms of simplifying the sample preparation procedures.  相似文献

Corrinoids were extracted with hot ethanol from human plasma and faeces and separated by high-performance liquid chromatography. The corrinoids (cobalamin and cobalamin analogues) were quantified in the eluted fractions by a dual radioisotope assay using as binders intrinsic factor and haptocorrin to detect cobalamin and total corrinoids, respectively. Recoveries ranged from 37.7 +/- 5.1% for hydroxycobalamin to 75.0 +/- 9.1% for cyanocobalamin. In plasma, the main forms of cobalamin were the coenzymes methylcobalamin and 5'-deoxyadenosylcobalamin (32.1 +/- 13.4 and 28.4 +/- 12.3%, respectively, of total corrinoids). The cobalamin analogue fraction of plasma was eluted with a retention time close to that of cobinamide and of deoxyadenosylcobalamin. In the faeces, most of the corrinoids separated were detected better by the haptocorrin assay than by the intrinsic factor assay. One corrinoid peak was eluted with the same retention time as cobinamide. This peak was detected by haptocorrin assay but not by intrinsic factor assay. It could therefore correspond to cobinamide.  相似文献

Blends of immiscible polymers are often stabilized by block copolymers which can form non-aqueous micelles and microemulsions in the liquid polymers. The phase diagrans, apparent volumes and apparent heat capacities of model non-aqueous binary and ternary systems were studied in order to investigate the conditions under which such self-assembly systems could form. 1,2-Hexanediol, which can cosolubilize hexane and ethyleneglycol, forms inverse micelles in hexane and weak microaggregates in ethyleneglycol. Genapol X-060, a commercial alcoholic surfactant containing on the average an aliphatic chain of 13 carbons and 6 oxyethylenes (C13E6), forms microaggregates in poly(ethyleneglycol) 400. A computational and experimental study of the hydrazine-catalyzed ring-opening carbonyl–olefin metathesis of norbornenes is described. Detailed theoretical investigation of the energetic landscape for the full reaction pathway with six different hydrazines revealed several crucial aspects for the design of next-generation hydrazine catalysts. This study indicated that a [2.2.2]-bicyclic hydrazine should offer substantially increased reactivity versus the previously reported [2.2.1]-hydrazine due to a lowered activation barrier for the rate-determining cycloreversion step, a prediction which was verified experimentally. Optimized conditions for both cycloaddition and cycloreversion steps were identified, and a brief substrate scope study for each was conducted. A complication for catalysis was found to be the slow hydrolysis of the ring-opened hydrazonium intermediates, which were shown to suffer from a competitive and irreversible cycloaddition with a second equivalent of norbornene. This problem was overcome by the strategic incorporation of a bridgehead methyl group on the norbornene ring, leading to the first demonstrated catalytic carbonyl–olefin metathesis of norbornene rings.

A computational and experimental study has uncovered a second generation hydrazine that enables the catalytic ring-opening carbonyl–olefin metathesis of norbornenes.  相似文献

The adsorption of neutral glycine onto amorphous silica was investigated both theoretically and experimentally. DFT calculations were performed at the BLYP-631++G** level using a cluster approach. Several possible configurations involving the formation of H bonds between glycine and one, two, or three silanol groups (SiOH) were considered. The most favorable bonding of glycine with one silanol group (45 kJ mol(-1)) occurs through the COOH moiety, thus forming a cycle in which the CO group is an H-bond acceptor whereas the acidic OH group is an H-bond donor. With two or three silanol groups, additional H bonds are formed between the amine moiety and the silanol groups, which leads to an increased adsorption energy (70 and 80 kJ mol(-1) for two and three silanol groups, respectively). Calculated nu(CO), delta(HNH), and delta(HCH) values are sensitive to the adsorption mode. A bathochromic shift of nu(CO) as compared to the nu(CO) of free glycine (calculated in the 1755-1790 cm(-1) range) is found for glycine in interaction with silanol(s). The more H bonds are formed between the COOH moiety and silanol groups, the higher the bathochromic shift. For delta(HNH), no shift is found for glycine adsorbed on one and two silanol groups (where the amine is either not bound or an H-bond donor), whereas a bathochromic shift is calculated with three silanols when the amine moiety is an H-bond acceptor. Experimental FTIR spectra performed at room temperature for glycine adsorbed at 160 degrees C on Aerosil amorphous silica exhibit bands at 1371, 1423, 1630, and 1699 cm(-1). The experimental/calculated frequencies have their best correspondence for glycine adsorbed on two silanol groups. It is important to note that the forms giving the best correspondence to experimental frequencies are the most stable ones.  相似文献
