Thermal oxidation of blends of poly(vinyl methyl ether) and styrene copolymers containing hydroxyl groups as hydrogen-bond donors was studied. The hydrogen-bonding interaction provide for improved miscibility between the component polymers and more extensive crosspropagation/cross-termination reactions. In addition to their contribution to improved miscibility, phenol groups in the copolymers exhibited apparent antioxidant and prooxidant effects.  相似文献

The diffusion studies of several solvents in epoxy polymer reported by Kewi and Zupko in Part I of this series are explained with the solution obtained from the generalized diffusion equation which includes the internal stress contribution. The rate of permeation of a penetrant through a polymer film and the time lag needed to reach steady state are also given for the generalized diffusion equation.  相似文献

It is demonstrated that in a filled polymer the thermal stresses resulting from the difference in the thermal expansion coefficients of the filler and the polymer have significant effect on the apparent coefficient of thermal expansion of the composite. A model is constructed to aid the thermal stress analysis, and the results are found to agree well with the experimental data obtained from other sources. An expression for the apparent densities of filled polymers is also obtained but the agreement between the present prediction with an existing test result is found to be only qualitative.  相似文献

Slow evaporation of toluene from poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide), PPO, at 23°C produced crystals which melt between 185 and 265°C and have a crystallinityof 0.58. About 8 wt% of the crystals appear to melt temperatures below 220°C. The lattertemperature marks the end of the glass transition interval for this polymer.This revised version was published online in November 2005 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Poly(2‐benzoyl‐1,4‐phenylene) (PBP) and poly(2,5‐dibenzoyl‐1,4‐phenylene) (PDBP) were synthesized by coupling polymerization using a Ni catalyst of 2,5‐dichlorobenzophenone and 2,5‐dichloro‐1,4‐dibenzophenone, respectively. These polymers are soluble in common organic solvents, have high thermal stability and show bright blue photoluminescence. Light‐emitting diodes fabricated with these polymers as the active layer emit blue electroluminescence with wavelength at 433 nm for PBP and 475 nm for PDBP. Polymer blends consisting of poly(styrene-co-4-vinylphenylmethylphenylsilanol) (ST-VPMPS) and poly(n-butyl methacrylate) (PBMA) have been investigated. The experimental results showed that miscible blends were formed when ST-VPMPS copolymers contained 9–56 mol % silanol functional groups. Comparison of the results with poly(styrene-co-4-vinylphenyldimethylsilanol) (ST-VPDMS)/PBMA blends revealed that the miscibility window was shifted to a higher silanol composition in the present system in which a stronger hetero-associated hydrogen bonding interaction was present. The results were discussed in terms of steric shielding and electron-withdrawing effects of the phenyl substituent bound directly to the silicon atom. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献
