The oxidative coupling reaction can efficiently be promoted by supported ruthenium catalyst Ru(OH)x/Al2O3. A variety of 2-naphthols and substituted phenols can be converted to the corresponding biaryl compounds in moderate to excellent yields using molecular oxygen as a sole oxidant in water without any additives. The catalysis is truly heterogeneous in nature, and Ru(OH)x/Al2O3 can easily be recovered after the reaction. The catalyst can be recycled seven times with the maintenance of the catalytic performance, and the total turnover number reaches up to 160. The results of competitive coupling reactions suggest that the present oxidative biaryl coupling reaction proceeds via the homolytic coupling of two radical species and the Ru(OH)x/Al2O3 catalyst acts as an one-electron oxidant. Two radical species are coupled to give the corresponding biaryl product, and the one-electron reduced catalyst is reoxidized by molecular oxygen. The amounts of O(2) uptake and H(2)O formation were almost one-quarter and one-half the amount of substrate consumed, respectively, supporting the reaction mechanism. The kinetic data and kinetic isotope effect show that the reoxidation of the reduced catalyst is the rate-limiting step for the coupling reaction.  相似文献

The magnetism of activated carbon fibers composed of a disorder network of nanographites was investigated, where each nanographite has about 1 edge-inherited localized spin. The susceptibility, for samples situated around the metal-insulator threshold, shows a cusp around 4-7 K in addition to the presence of a field-cooling effect. These behaviors are explained in terms of disordered magnetism caused by random strengths of inter-nano-graphite antiferromagnetic interactions mediated by pi-conduction carriers.  相似文献

The empty δ (δe) form of uniaxially-oriented syndiotactic polystyrene (sPS) samples were obtained by extracting the solvent molecules from the δ form of sPS and solvent complex in acetone and methanol. Temperature dependence of the X-ray fiber diagrams starting from the uniaxially-oriented δe and δ form has been measured successfully at various temperatures for the first time. The transition behavior was traced clearly by separating the equatorial and layer line reflections. The δe form transformed to the γ form via an intermediate form. The intermediate form is speculated to take disordered structure due to the empty cavities present in the δe form. Calorimetric studies showed an endotherm followed by an exotherm during this phase transition, which is consistant with such a speculation. On the other hand the δ form transformed to the γ form directly without passing through the intermediate form or δe form. During the δ to γ phase transition the solvent molecules evaporate through the columnar structure in a broad range of temperature, allowing the transition to occur smoothly.  相似文献

The introduction of unconventional elements into π-conjugated systems has been studied to manipulate the electronic states and properties of compounds. Herein, boron- and germanium-containing hybrid macrocycles, as a new class of element-hybrid conjugated systems, have been synthesized. The palladium-catalyzed Stille cross coupling of bis(bromothienyl)borane and bis(trimethylstannylthienyl)- or bis(trimethylstannylphenyl)-substituted dithienogermoles as the boron- and germanium-containing building blocks, respectively, produced a mixture of several macrocyclic compounds. Single-crystal X-ray analysis of the 2:2 coupling product revealed a planar structure with a cavity inside the macrocycle. The optical properties of the macrocyclic products indicated rather small electronic interactions between the building units. However, intramolecular photoenergy transfer from the dithienogermole unit to the boron unit was clearly observed with respect to the fluorescence spectra.  相似文献

Polymer networks usually contain numerous inhomogeneities that deteriorate their physical properties and should be eliminated to create reliable, high‐performance materials. A simple method is introduced for the production of nearly ideal networks from various vinyl polymers through controlled polymerization and subsequent crosslinking. Monodisperse star polymers with bromide end groups were synthesized by atom‐transfer radical polymerization and end‐linked with dithiol linkers using thiol–bromide chemistry. This simple procedure formed nearly ideal polymer networks, as revealed from elasticity of the formed gel and model conjugation reactions involving linear polymers. The versatility of this method was demonstrated by preparing networks of common vinyl polymers, including polyacrylates, polymethacrylate, and polystyrene. This method can be used to prepare multiple functional nearly ideal gels and elastomers and to explore fundamental aspects of polymer networks.  相似文献

A highly deuterated novolac‐type phenolic resin was prepared by polycondensation of deuterated phenol and formaldehyde using oxalic acid as an acid catalyst. The polycondensation of deuterated monomers and the formation of the highly deuterated phenolic resin were confirmed by the gel permeation chromatography, IR, and 1H NMR analyses. With the exception of hydroxyl groups, the degree of deuteration was estimated to be more than 98%. The polymer conformation in THF solution was evaluated by the scaling exponent of the Mark–Houwink–Sakurada equation. The exponent of the deuterated phenolic resin is 0.26 in THF at 40 °C and is close to that of a nondeuterated phenolic resin, which suggests that phenolic resins behave like a compact sphere irrespective of deuteration. The curing behavior of the deuterated phenolic resin with hexamethylenetetramine was confirmed by differential scanning calorimetry analysis. The cured highly deuterated phenolic resin exhibits a lower incoherent neutron scattering background than that of the nondeuterated phenolic resin, which suggests that the former is suitable for matrix resins with low incoherent backgrounds for small‐angle neutron scattering studies of thermosetting resins. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Hydroxyapatite (HA) is synthesized at early stages of bone formation by osteoblasts. Nondestructive observation of early stages of osteoblastic mineralization provides crucial information for biological mechanism of bone formation. Raman microscopy serves as an ideal tool to observe the osteoblastic mineralization process because it shows the chemical information of the sample at a minimally invasive level. In addition, HA is a marker for osteoblastic mineralization, and HA Raman signal is strong enough to identify mineralized spots in osteoblasts. In this research, we visualized the distribution of HA in cultured mouse osteoblasts by Raman imaging and observed the location of the mineralized spots in the culture. We monitored HA Raman signal from osteoblast culture for 3 days after administrating the osteogenic differentiation medium and observed Raman signal associated with HA. We identified mineralized spots of KUSA‐A1 by Raman imaging constructed from the distribution of HA Raman signal. We successfully visualized the distribution of the mineralized spots in the culture of KUSA‐A1. We compared our Raman images with Alizarin red S staining assay, which was a conventional method to evaluate the mineralization process. Raman imaging of the KUSA‐A1 culture visualized the mineralized spots more accurately than Alizarin red S staining assay. The interaction between a 25 TW laser and Xe clusters at a peak intensity of 1 × 101? W/cm2 has been investigated. Xe K-shell x rays, whose energies are approximately 30 keV, were clearly observed with a hard x-ray CCD at 3.4 MPa. Moreover, we studied the yield of the Xe K-shell x rays by changing the pulse duration of the laser at a constant laser energy and found that the pulse duration of 40 fs is better than that of 300 fs for generating Xe K-shell x rays.  相似文献

LR11, also known as SorLA or SORL1, is a type-I membrane protein from which a large extracellular part, soluble LR11 (sLR11), is released by proteolytic shedding on cleavage with a disintegrin and metalloproteinase 17 (ADAM17). A shedding mechanism is presumed to have a key role in the functions of LR11, but the evidence for this has not yet been demonstrated. Tetraspanin CD9 has been recently shown to regulate the ADAM17-mediated shedding of tumor necrosis factor-α and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 on the cell surface. Here, we investigated the role of CD9 on the shedding of LR11 in leukocytes. LR11 was not expressed in THP-1 monocytes, but it was expressed and released in phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA)-induced THP-1 macrophages (PMA/THP-1). Confocal microscopy showed colocalization of LR11 and CD9 proteins on the cell surface of PMA/THP-1. Ectopic neo-expression of CD9 in CCRF-SB cells, which are LR11-positive and CD9-negative, reduced the amount of sLR11 released from the cells. In contrast, incubation of LR11-transfected THP-1 cells with neutralizing anti-CD9 monoclonal antibodies increased the amount of sLR11 released from the cells. Likewise, the PMA-stimulated release of sLR11 increased in THP-1 cells transfected with CD9-targeted shRNAs, which was negated by treatment with the metalloproteinase inhibitor GM6001. These results suggest that the tetraspanin CD9 modulates the ADAM17-mediated shedding of LR11 in various leukemia cell lines and that the association between LR11 and CD9 on the cell surface has an important role in the ADAM17-mediated shedding mechanism.  相似文献
