The inclusion complex formation of 4-sulfothiacalix[4]arene sodium salt (STCAS) and Xe has been investigated by using hyperpolarized
129Xe NMR spectroscopy. Our new continuous-flow type hyperpolarizing system has advantageous capabilities that can supply hyperpolarized
gases continuously and directly to a sample solution in a NMR tube. Consequently saturated Xe concentration in the aqueous
solution of STCAS is maintained during the NMR experiment, and 129Xe NMR spectra can be obtained in remarkably short time. STCAS concentration dependence of 129Xe chemical shift has been analyzed in an elaborated way by a computer method as well as a simple graphic method that we have
proposed. The association constant K:13.6±0.8 M−1 at 25 °C was obtained, and further analysis of the temperature dependence has successfully given thermodynamic parameters
of enthalpy (ΔH) and entropy (ΔS) for the inclusion complex formation: ΔH = −11.9±1.9 kJ mol−1 and ΔS = −17.4±5.8 JK−1 mol−1. The energetic aspects of complex formation are discussed from the size effect and from the molecular theory of standard
entropy, and a release of definite number of water molecules from STCAS cavity is suggested in the inclusion complex formation

Nanoprobe chemistry offers a promising approach for the construction of nanostructures consisting of organic molecules by employing the tip of a scanning probe microscope. In a previous report, we demonstrated that a nitroso-terminated surface on an organosilane self-assembled monolayer could be converted into an amino-terminated surface by applying such a nanoprobe electrochemical technique. This paper reports on surface-potential reversibility originating from a reversible chemical reaction between amino and nitroso groups. In addition, we demonstrate surface-potential memory based on this chemical reversibility. Amino-terminated SAMs were prepared from p-aminophenyl-trimethoxysilane through chemical vapor deposition. Surface potentials were acquired by Kelvin force microscopy. When scanning probe lithography was conducted with a gold tip at positive-bias voltages, the surface potential of the scanned area shifted dramatically in the negative direction. Scanning with negative-bias voltages led to positive shift in the surface potential of the scanned area. The surface potential could be recovered even after multiple scannings with positive and negative applied bias voltages. On the basis of this discovery, we also succeeded in demonstrating surface-potential memory via our nanoprobe electrochemical technique. 相似文献

High concentrations of arsenic were observed in the blubber of ringed seals (Pusa hispida) in our previous study. To better understand the arsenic accumulation in blubber of marine mammals, arsenicals in the blubber of ringed seal were characterized using high performance liquid chromatography–inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (HPLC–ICPMS). The most predominant water-soluble arsenical in the blubber was dimethylarsinic acid (DMA), in spite of the predominance of arsenobetaine in other tissues. Lipid-soluble fraction was hydrolyzed under mild (tetraethylammonium hydroxide (TEAH) hydrolysis) and strong (NaOH hydrolysis) conditions, and then an aliquot of hydrolysate was injected onto HPLC–ICPMS. Both TEAH-labile and TEAH-stable/NaOH-labile lipid-soluble fractions contained precursors of DMA. These results suggest that the blubber might be the pool of DMA and DMA-containing precursors in ringed seals. 相似文献

[Reaction: see text]. The synthesis of neuropeptide Y antagonist 1, currently under clinical investigation for the treatment of obesity, is described. The convergent synthesis from trans-spirolactone carboxylic acid intermediate 2a and aminopyrazole 3 is predicated on a stereoselective route to the former. The coupling reaction of ethyl 4-oxocyclohexanecarboxylate (10a) with lithiated isonicotinamide 11 was investigated in detail, but even optimized conditions only provided a 45:55 ratio of trans:cis isomers (12a:12b). While selective crystallization schemes were developed to isolate the thermodynamically less stable trans isomer 2a, improved stereocontrol was subsequentially achieved by the application of ketene chemistry. The ketene formation and quench was investigated under a variety of conditions aimed at maximizing the trans:cis ratio. Reacting a mixture of carboxylic acids 2a and 2b with POCl3 in THF, followed by concomitant addition of tert-butyl alcohol in the presence of TMEDA at 35 degrees C provided a 4:1 ratio of trans:cis tert-butyl esters (18a:18b) via in situ ketene formation. Ester hydrolysis, followed by selective crystallization of undesired 2b as the HCl salt, led to isolation of 2a in 47% overall yield. Aminopyrazole intermediate 3 was synthesized via the condensation reaction of 2-fluorophenylhydrazine hydrochloride (4a) with acrylonitrile derivative 5 in 65-70% yield. Oxidative cyclization of morusin (I) by using one-electron transfer oxidizing agents (manganese dioxide, silver oxide) afforded morusin hydroperoxide (II). A similar reaction was carried out in the presence of 2,4,6-tri-t-butylphenol, a radical quencher, to give compounds (IV, V, VI and VII) coupled with the 2,4,6-tri-t-butylphenoxy radical. On the basis of above results, the possible mechanism of this oxidative cyclization was discussed. In addition, morusin hydroperoxide (II) was also obtained by photo-sensitized oxidation of morusin (I) in the presence of sensitizers (Rose Bengal, hematoporphyrin). To elucidate the reaction mechanism similar reactions were carried out in the presence of radical quencher (2,4,6-tri-t-butylphenol) or singlet oxygen quencher (triethylenediamine). A hybrid mass spectrometer with an EBQQ configuration was used to investigate two approaches to trace dioxin analysis: high resolution gas chromatography – high resolution mass spectrometry (HRGC-HRMS) and high resolution gas chromatography – mass spectrometry – mass spectrometry (HRGC-MS-MS). It is shown that selected ion monitoring (SIM) HRGC-HRMS exhibits better selectivity for dioxins separated on a cyanopropyl column than is otherwise obtained under medium resolution mass spectrometry (3,000 resolution), while optimization of conditions for HRGC-MS-MS allowed the observation of 350 femtograms of the highly toxic 2,3,7,8-TCDF at a S/N ratio of 5:1. Observation of bubble layer formed on hydrogen and oxygen gas-evolving electrode in a magnetic field

The evolution of hydrogen and oxygen gasses in a 0.36-M KOH electrolyte was observed in a magnetic field, and the void fraction
was calculated by a hydrodynamic model. Both gasses evolving on a platinum working electrode formed a bubble layer which increased
the ohmic resistance. In addition to natural convection, magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) convection in a magnetic field improved
the electrolytic conductivity by supplying a fresh solution (pumping effect) and removing gas bubbles. The MHD convection
reduced the void fraction of hydrogen gas more than that of oxygen, which can be explained by the poor wettability of the
