Four 2,5-biphenylene based difunctional condensation monomers, such as 2,5-diphenyldicar-boxylic acid or phenylterephthalic acid (PTA), 2,5-bis(carbonylimino-4-benzoic acid)biphenyl (2,5-BCIBABP), 2,5-diaminobiphenyl hydrochloride (2,5-DABP.HCl) and 2,5-bis(iminocarbonyl-4-benzoic acid)biphenyl (2,5-BICBABP), have been synthesized and characterized. These monomers were polymerized in combination with terephthalic acid (TA) and p-phenylenediamine (PPD) via the phosphorylation reaction to prepare a series of phenyl-substituted random copolyamides having all amide groups attached to para-positions of the benzene rings. All the copolyamides have been characterized by solubility, solution viscosity, and by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Some of these copolyamides have unusual solubility in organic solvents such as N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc) and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone (NMP) containing dissolved lithium chloride. A few copolyamides were tested for lyotropic behavior and found to form anisotropic solutions at critical concentrations in organic solvents. A randomly distributed unsymmetrical phenyl substituent on the benzene ring of para-oriented wholly aromatic polyamides dramatically changes the solubility and melting point. The phenyl substituent on a terephthalic acid unit is more efficient in decreasing melting point and increasing solubility in organic solvents of aromatic polyamides than the one on a p-phenylenediamine unit. An environmentally benign, multicomponent integrated chemical process has been developed for the synthesis of 3,5-dispirosubstituted piperidines by cyclo-condensation reaction of amines, formaldehyde, and dimedone using iron(III) trifluroacetate [Fe(F3CCO2)3] Lewis acid in aqueous micellar medium at ambient temperature (25–30 °C). The heterogeneous solid acid catalyst conveniently promotes this double amino methylation reaction in which six molecules condense in one pot to form six new covalent bonds. The synthesized 3,5-dispirosubstituted piperidines have been screened for their in vitro antibacterial activity using agar well method. Many of these compounds showed satisfactory antibacterial activity as compared to standard drugs against all the bacteria tested. 相似文献

A facile and practically applied protocol for synthesis of benzil derivatives using styrene and arene diazonium salts is reported. Pd(OAc)2/SeO2 catalytic system was found to be efficient for chemoselective synthesis of benzil. Selenium dioxide works well as an oxidant under milder reaction conditions. A bisphenol bearing pendant maleimide group, namely, N‐maleimidoethyl‐3, 3‐bis(4‐hydroxyphenyl)‐1‐isobenzopyrrolidone (PPH‐MA) was synthesized starting from phenolphthalein. Aromatic (co)polyesters bearing pendant maleimide groups were synthesized from PPH‐MA and aromatic diacid chlorides, namely, isophthaloyl chloride (IPC), terephthaloyl chloride (TPC), and 50:50 mol % mixture of IPC and TPC by low temperature solution polycondensation technique. Copolyesters were also synthesized by polycondensation of different molar proportions of PPH‐MA and bisphenol A with IPC. Inherent viscosities and number‐average molecular weights of aromatic (co)polyesters were in the range of 0.52–0.97 dL/g and 20,200–32,800 g/mol, respectively indicating formation of medium to reasonably high‐molecular‐weight polymers. 13C NMR spectral analysis of copolyesters revealed the formation of random copolymers. The 10% weight loss temperature of (co)polyesters was found in the range 470–484 °C, indicating their good thermal stability. A selected aromatic polyester bearing pendant maleimide groups was chemically modified via thiol‐maleimide Michael addition reaction with two representative thiol compounds, namely, 4‐chlorothiophenol and 1‐adamantanethiol to yield post‐modified polymers in a quantitative manner. Additionally, it was demonstrated that polyester containing pendant maleimide groups could be used to form insoluble crosslinked gel in the presence of a multifunctional thiol crosslinker. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Antibiotic susceptibility test (AST) discs are used as an in-vitro diagnostic tool to select the appropriate antibiotic to treat an infection. Generally, the concentration of the drug loaded on to the AST discs is measured by studying its activity against quality control organisms. This methodology has several limitations—it is time consuming, requires trained manpower, has a wider acceptance criteria of zone of inhibitions—causing ambiguity in judging smaller variations in drug concentration. To overcome these issues, we have developed and validated high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) methods for the determination of strength of AST discs for in-house researched antibiotics, namely Levonadifloxacin/WCK 771, Nafithromycin/WCK 4873, Cefepime-Tazobactam/WCK 4282, and Cefepime-Zidebactam/WCK 5222. The drugs were extracted from the AST discs using an appropriate solvent. The developed methods are simple, accurate, precise, reproducible, rugged, and robust. They are efficient in terms of time, and can be easily conducted in a quality control laboratory during release as well as stability evaluation of AST disc. Application of HPLC methods for the determination of strength of AST discs ensures flawless quality and, consequently, a better selection of drugs to treat bacterial infections in clinics. 相似文献
