It is shown that at low grazing angles, the slope probability density function (PDF) of the nonshadowed part of a rough surface can differ significantly from the slope PDF of the overall surface, if surface heights and slopes are functionally dependent. If the surface steepness has a tendency to increase with height, the effective slopes of the illuminated part of the surface can be significantly steeper than the average slope of the surface as a whole. This fact can play a crucial role in any theoretical interpretation of experimental results concerning radar scattering by the sea surface at low grazing angles.  相似文献

During methane oxidation initiated by nitric acid or nitrogen dioxide, it is possible to observe, under certain conditions of temperature, initiator content, and flow rates, the formation of an adiabatic “temperature peak.” Because the maximum temperature of the peak does not exceed the initial temperature of the reactor by more than 220°C, the recorded temperature-increase curves were used for a kinetic interpretation. The obtained kinetic parameters (overall n and E) agree with the values reported in the literature for isothermal methane oxidation and suggest that the overall mechanism does not change in the conditions of “temperature peak.”  相似文献

A new method for the consolidation of loose sand formations has been developed. The method involves in situ precipitation of a composite calcium phosphate-polyelectrolyte salt that binds together with loose sand grains, thus resulting to their consolidation. Three different polyelectrolytes (PE) were tested, i.e., polyacrylic acid (PAA), polyallylamine hydrochloride (PAH), and polyethylenimine (PEI). The effect of PE tested on the thermodynamics and the kinetics of precipitation of calcium phosphate salts was investigated. Three types of experiments were done. Investigation of the adsorption of PE on either hydroxyapatite (Ca(5)(PO(4))(3)OH, HAP) crystals or on sand grains. Measurement of the kinetics of heterogeneous nucleation of HAP on the solid substrates and the mechanical properties of the obtained crystals in batch experiments of low and high supersaturation solutions, respectively. Evaluation of the consolidation in sand packs in order to investigate the effectiveness of the method. The crystallization rates, R(p), on HAP crystals in the presence of the PE tested were found in the order R(p)(PAA)>R(p)(PEI)>R(p)(PAH), while nucleation and crystal growth on silicate sand took place only in the absence of adsorbed PE. PAH favored strongly the consolidation process, whereas PEI and PAA resulted in the formation of poorly consolidated grain agglomerates.  相似文献

Ferromagnetic full Heusler alloys containing Co are amongst the most studied half‐metallic systems. Several studies recently have been concentrated on the effect of defects and impurities. We focus in this Letter on the case of vacancies in these alloys. We show that the occurrence of vacancies at the sites occupied by Co atoms can destroy half‐metallicity and alters the Slater–Pauling rule. Such defects are likely to occur since they result to the C1b lattice structure of the semi‐Heusler alloys. Contrary, the appearance of vacancies at the other sites keeps the half‐metallic character of the parent alloys. ABSTRACT

We have used polarized neutron reflectivity, X-ray diffraction, X-ray reflectivity and magneto-optical Kerr effect in polar configuration to study the properties of ultrathin Pt/Co/Pt films. Structures consisting of a 5-nm thick Pt buffer, 3-nm thick Co layer and 5-nm thick Pt cover layer were deposited onto (0001)-oriented Al2O3 substrate by the molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) method. Irreversible modifications of film properties, resulting from its illumination by single femtosecond laser pulses, of duration of 40 fs and wavelength of 800 nm, were observed and analyzed. As prepared films exhibited magnetization in-plane, but after laser irradiation, the direction of magnetization was rotated to out-of-plane state. Formation of Co–Pt alloy phase caused by quasi-uniform film irradiation was demonstrated by the results of X-ray and neutron scattering measurements. Moreover, polarized neutron and X-ray reflectivity data showed that after illumination Co was distributed mostly in the area of nominal Co layer and Pt cover layer and its diffusion into the Pt buffer was less significant.  相似文献

It is proved that any mapping of an -dimensional affine space over a division ring onto itself which maps every line into a line is semi-affine, if and . This result seems to be new even for the real affine spaces. Some further generalizations are also given. The paper is self-contained, modulo some basic terms and elementary facts concerning linear spaces and also - if the reader is interested in other than , , or - division rings.
