Cross-linkable gemini room temperature ionic liquids (GRTILs) were synthesized and photo-cross-linked into thin films. The resultant polymer membranes were tested for their permeabilities to CO2, N2, CH4 and H2. Permeabilities for each gas were found to be much lower when compared to previously reported poly(RTIL) membranes, mainly as a result of highly restricted diffusion. Separation factors were similar to previously studied poly(RTIL) membranes. CH4 and N2 fluxes were small enough to consider these membranes as “barrier” films to the transport of those gases. Poly(GRTILs) may have use in applications where flow of those gases is not desirable.  相似文献

The stereoselective formation of the alpha-GalNAc-Ser linkage via the ring opening of aziridine-2-carboxamides with pyranose C1-O-nucleophiles is described. The process is tolerant to the native C2-NHAc group, can be modulated to provide either the alpha- or beta-glycoside through judicious choice of solvent and metal counterion, and is amenable to other classes of O-glycosyl-Ser constructs such as the beta-GlcNAc-Ser and alpha-Man-Ser linkages. This coupling reaction also led to the development of the o-allylbenzyl (ABn) moiety as a new C-terminus carboxyl protective group, which allows for the use of novel methods for N- and C-terminus extension of amino acids following carbohydrate conjugation.  相似文献

An amphiphilic photoisomerizable macrocycle has been prepared that forms stable Langmuir monolayers at the air-water interface. The hydrophilic core of the molecule switches between closed and open isomers upon irradiation by the appropriate wavelengths of light. Isotherm measurements, Brewster angle microscope images, and atomic force micrographs (of transferred Langmuir-Blodgett films) suggest a phase transition between a face-on to a tilted edge-on molecular orientation as a function of surface concentration. In the face-on phase, in situ photoisomerization results in a reversible increase in surface pressure due to greater molecular crowding in the open configuration.  相似文献

Organic, nanoporous heterogeneous catalysts based on a carboxylate-containing, amphiphilic mesogen catalyze the Knoevenagel condensation (see schematic representation). These networks maintain their order in solution and can be recycled. QS-21 is one of the most promising new adjuvants for immune response potentiation and dose-sparing in vaccine therapy given its exceedingly high level of potency and its favorable toxicity profile. Melanoma, breast cancer, small cell lung cancer, prostate cancer, HIV-1, and malaria are among the numerous maladies targeted in more than 80 recent and ongoing vaccine therapy clinical trials involving QS-21 as a critical adjuvant component for immune response augmentation. QS-21 is a natural product immunostimulatory adjuvant, eliciting both T-cell- and antibody-mediated immune responses with microgram doses. Herein is reported the synthesis of QS-21A(api) in a highly modular strategy, applying novel glycosylation methodologies to a convergent construction of the potent saponin immunostimulant. The chemical synthesis of QS-21 offers unique opportunities to probe its mode of biological action through the preparation of otherwise unattainable nonnatural saponin analogues.  相似文献
