On the basis of angular spectrum representation, a formalism describing paraxial beams propagating through an isotropic left-handed material (LHM) slab is presented. The treatment allows us to introduce the ideas of beam focusing and phase compensation by LHM slab. Because of the negative refractive index of LHM slab, the inverse Gouy phase shift and the negative Rayleigh length of paraxial Gaussian beam are proposed. It is shown that the phase difference caused by the Gouy phase shift in right-handed material (RHM) can be compensated by that caused by the inverse Gouy phase shift in LHM. If certain matching conditions are satisfied, the intensity and phase distributions at object plane can be completely reconstructed at the image plane. 相似文献

ABCD matrix formalism for propagation of Gaussian beam through left-handed material slab system 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
We apply a simple ABCD matrix formalism to investigate beam propagation in left-handed material (LHM) slab systems. Firstly, we derive the expressions for the matrix elements for a single LHM slab. Based on the ABCD matrix, we obtain the field distributions both inside and outside the LHM slab, and the conditions for focusing and phase compensation of the Gaussian beam. Secondly, the derived ABCD law is applied to analyze the propagation properties of Gaussian beams through various cascaded LHM slab systems. The corresponding focusing and phase compensation conditions of the Gaussian beam are also obtained. Our theoretic formalism may be applied as a compact and effective tool for the research of light beam propagation in complex LHM slab systems, since it avoids the complicated integral operation. 相似文献

The nonlinear absorption (NLA) properties of five different types of porphyrins were studied using the Z-scan technique. The
porphyrins under investigation were confined into Nafion column matrix membrane in order to protect them from possible degradation.
The results of the experiments have indicated that all the porphyrins tested exhibited interesting NLA properties. The nonlinear
absorption coefficients (β’s) were determined at different porphyrin concentrations by comparing the Z-scan data with the theoretical functions. 相似文献

The 31P NMR chemical shifts of adsorbed trimethylphosphine oxide (TMPO) and the configurations of the corresponding TMPOH+ complexes on Br?nsted acid sites with varying acid strengths in modeled zeolites have been predicted theoretically by means of density functional theory (DFT) quantum chemical calculations. The configuration of each TMPOH+ complex was optimized at the PW91/DNP level based on an 8T cluster model, whereas the 31P chemical shifts were calculated with the gauge including atomic orbital (GIAO) approach at both the HF/TZVP and MP2/TZVP levels. A linear correlation between the 31P chemical shift of adsorbed TMPO and the proton affinity of the solid acids was observed, and a threshold for superacidity (86 ppm) was determined. This threshold for superacidity was also confirmed by comparative investigations on other superacid systems, such as carborane acid and heteropolyoxometalate H3PW12O40. In conjunction with the strong correlation between the MP2 and the HF 31P isotropic shifts, the 8T cluster model was extended to more sophisticated models (up to 72T) that are not readily tractable at the GIAO-MP2 level, and a 31P chemical shift of 86 ppm was determined for TMPO adsorbed on zeolite H-ZSM-5, which is in good agreement with the NMR experimental data. 相似文献

Second-harmonic generation (SHG) in the nematic phase of bent-core oxadiazole-based liquid crystals (LCs) was studied and compared to that for the rod-like compound 4-cyano-4?-n-octylbiphenyl (8CB). Weak, isotropically scattered second-harmonic (SH) light was observed for all materials, consistent with SHG by nematic director fluctuations. The SH intensity produced by the bent-core materials was found to be up to ~ 3.4 times that of 8CB. We discuss this result in terms of the dependence of SH intensity on temperature, elastic constants and flexoelectric coefficients. We have calculated the latter by using a molecular field approach with atomistic modelling, thus demonstrating how molecular parameters contribute to the flexoelectric coefficients and illustrating the potential of this method for predicting the flexoelectric behaviour of bent-core LCs. We show that the increased SH signal in the bent-core compounds is partly due to their nematic phases being at a much higher temperature, and also potentially due to them having greater flexoelectric coefficients, up to ~1.5 times those of 8CB. These estimates are consistent with reports of increased flexoelectric coefficients in bent-core compounds in comparison to rod-like compounds. 相似文献

In this work, we developed a roll‐to‐roll printed poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene)/polystyrene sulphoanate without graphene oxide (GO) (PEDOT/PSS) and with graphene oxide (PEDOT/PSS/GO) plastic films for the electrochemical determination of carbofuran. Both the PEDOT/PSS and PEDOT/PSS/GO plastic films showed electroactivity towards the oxidation of carbofuran. Incorporation of graphene oxide (GO) improves the electrochemical activity of carbofuran and increased its sensitivity. The printed plastic films were characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), surface profilometer, four point probe and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The effects of pH, deposition time, deposition potential and film thickness on the oxidation peak current of carbofuran were investigated. Under the optimized conditions, a dynamic linear range of 1 μM–90 μM with a detection limit of 1.0×10?7 M (S/N=3) were obtained. The printed PEDOT/PSS/GO plastic electrode was applied for the determination of carbofuran in vegetable and fruit samples with recoveries between 94.4 and 101.8 %. 相似文献
