Metallophthalocyanines with rod-shaped substituents

4-(4′-Dioctylaminocarbonylbiphenyloxy) phthalonitrile was synthesized from 4-(4′-carboxybiphenyloxy)phthalonitrile and dioctylamine in the presence of Et₃N. Metallophthalocyanines (Zn, Co and Cu) substituted with four dioctylaminocarbonyl biphenyloxy groups on the peripheral positions were prepared from 4-(4′-dioctylaminocarbonylbiphenyloxy)phthalonitrile and the corresponding divalent metal salts (Zn(CH₃COO)₂, CoCl₂ and CuCl₂). The new phthalocyanines are soluble in common organic solvents. These compounds were characterised by ¹H-NMR, ¹³C-NMR, FT-IR, UV-Vis and mass spectroscopies.     

Ph2SO/Tf2O: a powerful promotor system in chemoselective glycosylations using thioglycosides

Diphenylsulfoxide in combination with triflic anhydride provides a very potent thiophilic glycosylation promotor system, capable of activating disarmed thioglycosides. The usefulness of this novel thiophilic activator is illustrated in a successful chemoselective glycosylation sequence in which the donor thioglycoside in the first condensation step may be either armed or disarmed. Preconcentration of heavy metals ions from aqueous solutions by means of cellulose phosphate: an application in water analysis

Cellulose phosphate (CELLPHOS) was studied as a collector for analytical preconcentration of traces of Cd(II), Cr(III), Cu(II) and Ni(II) from aqueous sample solution. It has been proved that using chromatographic columns packed with CELLPHOS for preconcentration and 1.0 mol 1(-1) HCl for elution the adsorbed analytes are quantitatively enriched. An enrichment factor of 20 (100 ml sample, 5 ml concentrate) was achieved by this separation procedure, which was applied to a series of water analyses (river, sea, bog water).     

Mass spectra of heterocyclic compounds. II-Hexahydro-1,3,5,-triazines

The twelve tri-N-sulphonylhexahydro-1,3,5-triazines (R = alkyl or aryl) exhibit a common fragmentation pattern; most of the fragments are directly or indirectly generated from the [M ? RSO₂]⁺ ion. Tri-N-Benzylsulphonylhexahydro-1,3,5-triazine (R = PhCH₂) departs from the others mainly because the key ion [M ? RSO₂]⁺ suffers a skeletal rearrangement with loss of SO₂. The rationalizations presented are supported by metastable evidence, accurate mass measurements and deuterium labelling.     

Direct electrochemical synthesis and characterization of copper(II), iron(II) and iron(III) complexes with 1- and 2-substituted pyridines

Summary The electrochemical oxidation of anodic metals (iron and copper) in MeCN solutions of 2-pyridinone (HOPy), 1-hydroxy-2-pyridinethione (HPT), 2-pyridinemethanethiol-1-oxide (HPMTO) or its dimer 2,2-dithiodimethyldipyridine-1,1-dioxide (PMTO)₂, gave the simple complexes Fe(OPy)₂ · H₂O, Cu(OPy)₂ · 3H₂O, Fe(PT)₂ · 3H₂O, Fe(PT)₃, Cu(PT)₂, Fe(PMTO)₂·3H₂O and Cu(PMTO)₂·H₂O, respectively. When 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) was added to the electrolytic phase, only two mixed complexes were obtained: Cu(OPy)₂phen·3H₂O and Fe(PT)₂phen·2H₂O. The possible molecular structures of the complexes were studied on the basis of their i.r. spectra and magnetic properties.     

Processing and error analysis of signals in flow-injection analysis

The processing and error analysis of signals in flow-injection systems were systematically studied by simulation and experimental measurements. The content includes an error analysis for peak-height and peak-area signal, a least-squares filtering procedure applied to the flow-injection curve and a peak recognition to remove interferences from air bubbles. Simulation results were obtained by statistical processing of peak-height and peak-area values from Gaussian curves to which noise had been added. The experimental measurements were done by an automatic flow-injection device to obtain detailed information for each individual point of a peak. 2-(2-Arsenophenylazo)-7-(2,6-dichlorophenylazo-4-sulphonic acid)-1,8-dihydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulphonic acid (DCSA) was used for measuring physical dispersion alone, and Fe(II)-o-phenanthroline for the measurement of both physical dispersion and chemical reaction. The results from computer simulation and experiments agreed well.     

Diastereoselective synthesis of cularine alkaloids via enium ions and an easy entry to isoquinolines by aza-Wittig electrocyclic ring closure

In preliminary communications, we reported the diastereoselective synthesis of cularine and sarcocapnine via the intramolecular ring closure of nitrenium and oxenium ions, a new highly diastereoselective reductive methylation with (+)-8-phenylmenthyl chloroacetate followed by reduction with sodium borohydride, and a facile entry to the isoquinoline precursors by aza-Wittig electrocyclic ring closure. We now report the full details of the syntheses of (+)-O-demethylcularine, (+)-cularine, (+)-sarcocapnidine, (+)-sarcocapnine, and (+)-crassifoline and describe different methods of synthesis of their precursors.     

3,4‐Di­hydro‐6‐methyl‐3‐β‐d‐ribo­furan­osyl‐4,5′‐cyclo‐9H‐imidazo[1,2‐a]­purin‐9‐one hydrate

In the title compound, C₁₃H₁₃N₅O₄·H₂O (4,5′‐cyclo­wyosine·H₂O), the cyclization forces a syn arrangement of the aglycon with respect to the sugar moiety. The ribo­furan­ose part of the mol­ecule displays a β‐d configuration with an envelope C1′‐endo pucker. The mol­ecules are arranged in columns along the short a axis and are linked to water mol­ecules through O—H?O and O—H?N hydrogen bonds.
